I’d beg to differ. I think the squad is too unbalanced now and the arrival of CR7 could make situations difficult. I think there is very chance we don’t make top 4 this season if he stays as manager

Don't agree, with Rashford coming back and Sancho starting to settle in, we will win enough games to get top 4, but that will be it though. Have a feeling the board will be happy with that. Also, can't see Woodward sacking another manager when he's leaving soon.

To be fair, Ole did not make the Ronaldo signing.

He's not in charge of signings. Surely that's obvious from VdB? He has a say but that's it. He's just a smiling front guy for Woodward's Disneyland. This is exactly why Klopp didn't come here.

Okay so if he's not in charge of signings, that takes away the one correct thing he did as a manager. So why is he here at all if he didn't even do that? (I think we've spent well but we're not using DVB because ole has some vendetta against him)

Feck it. Get rid of him now. I love the guy but this isn't the time to let sentimentality get in the way. If we want to start winning stuff again we have to be ruthless. We need a top quality manager. The problem is i don't know who that guy is. Every manager since Fergie has been a dud. We need to get it right this time.

Conte. He will snap this team into a system of play with fiery discipline.

Zidane might seem like the ONLY good option. He's won shit so at least they'll respect him. Don't want a Moyes situation.

It'll get better when Rashford's back, we don't have anyone else that offers that kind of explosive pace and he'll give us a better outlet. He'll also change how teams set up against us, we really need him back asap.
I like Rashford and the sooner he’s back and in form the better. But his absence is no excuse for not dominating and outplaying the likes of Villa, Villareal and a second string Everton team at Old Trafford

I don’t think it could have happened without his blessing, someone like Conte would have never give in if player would be forced on him. It’s quite clear Ole is just happy to be here and is trying to keep everyone content too.
Good point.

This is absolutely depressing

Varane, Ronaldo and Sancho added to a squad that just finished 2nd. And the fans are worried about top 4.

Yeah, bringing in actual winners is putting too much pressure on the manager. Would managers at Chelsea, City, or Madrid ever have fans try to coddle them like this?

That maybe true but his footballs boring… the fans would get bored of going to games, it will be similar to mourinhos time. He will win but it won’t always be pretty… we need someone who can win and win the united way in style!

I would love Marco Rose here, I wonder if we can drag him away from Dortmund next year; or someone of that ilk. Can we have just have a manager of that style please? We haven't had a proper attacking coach since SAF retired.

He's here to stop the top reds booing the Glazers and keep the players happy while they get top four.

He's doing a good job tbh. Just not the job we want.

yes we did before he came to Liverpool. That idiot Woodward scared the shit out him talking about United being Disney etc.

Klopp realised he would be running the football subsidiary of a marketing and sportswear brand.

As long as Ole makes CL qualification he will be safe. Glazers only sack when CL qualification is a mathematical impossibility.

There should be a poll between ten Hag and Potter.

And then another poll between Rose and some other young, progressive attacking coach.

And then the finals.

Rose who only just joined Dortmund?

I still think there should be a poll though. What say you mods? Is that allowed?

'Member how approximately fifteen sixteenths of the caf were frothing at the mouth about the job he was doing at Borussia Mocha-lama-dingdong which got him the job at Dortmund.

I think they're bored of polls. Let them do an old-fashioned tournament bracket.

Marco Rose is at Dortmund now and is in a job where he's gonna be tested. He still has a lot to prove and it would be unusual to see him jump ship from a club where he's still trying to make a impact.

I think for us all roads lead to Ten Hag. We have two prominent Dutchmen in our recruitment structure in Marcel Bout who has vast experience of the European game and he's the head of global scouting. We also have Henny de Regt (ex Ajax) who is the head of European scouting. And both men I feel could make things easier for Ten Hag, due to their understanding of the football Ten Hag implements.

Potter is also a interesting shout due to his approach to the game, which is proactive/front foot. But the most important thing for us as a club is to appoint someone who will work with the likes of Murtough, Bout, Court, Lawlor, De Regt etc who are the key players in the recruitment structure which is still fairly new in a lot of ways.

I think the lack of an obvious replacement might keep Ole in a job for a while longer. I can’t see us going for Conte and I have no idea who else there is available. Can’t see us getting Zidane either
I think this why we are struggling and despite spending over a billion since Fergie we are struggling. It's not about the obvious replacement it's about having the vision to see potential even in the not so obvious one, I'd would think this is just basic recruitment and we are failing because we don't have leadership with the requisite imagination.

That's exactly how someone saw a ready made and 'obvious' United manager in Van Gaal and Mourinho. No homework done, just counting trophies won and saying well there is our guy.

Been on and off the fence so many times about Ole I can never make my mind up, complete stupidity on his behalf to go into this season with mcfred for one. If he were to go it has to be Rodgers or Potter for me, not interested in conte given his dramatical exits from previous clubs and zidande I'm not sure would work out here.
Surely we should have signed sancho last season, we would have been better and this season we who’d have signed rice. Imagine the difference

And if we do decide to bring in a new Head Coach, then it will be the first time post Fergie that we'll be appointing a Head Coach with the likes of Murtough, Bout, Court etc in key positions when it comes to recruitment.

Ten Hag or Hassenhutl would be interesting. I just know I don’t want Conte or Zidane.

How many years does Ten Hag have left on his contract?

I'd get him in immediately.

I don't know about that. You think he's decent? Never really been convinced by him.

Even if you weren't convinced by his Barcelona stint, his Spain side looked really good in the Euros and they're not as good as they used to be talent wise.

I highly doubt he'd leave the Spain post though.

You think they'll be consulted? Are you clued up on what sort of footballing vision any of these hold? I get you're referring to the structure of the club being better than when Ole came into "a fantastically well run club" :wenger: so it will make things smoother in theory.

His contract expires in 2023 from what I've read.

The contract buyout shouldn't be that much in theory.

I'd love for us to get him, but I can't see this club being that proactive.

I fear that we'll let Ole manage the season. We'll have a disappointing season. PSG also have a disappointing season. They let go of Pochettino.

We hire Poch in the summer after letting Ole go.

Spain looked like one of the best coached sides at the Euros and they were in bad shape when he took them over, and have lost a lot of talent over the past few years. Their movement and passing was great and they created a lot of chances (but constantly had trouble finishing!).

Did well at Barca too but had Messi, Suarez and Neymar who were on fire at the time which makes people unsure if he’d be equally effective elsewhere.

With the World Cup being so close now, might be hard to convince him to leave Spain at this point but we should try. Most elite managers are usually in jobs already (Conte and Zidane being a bit of an anomaly right now).

Wonder if Ten Hag would be poachable mid-season or if he's someone you'd have to wait until the summer for.

Call Ten Hag and tell him to come with his midfielders, including the one he plays in defence.
