What's with so many people and their long term visions? How many coaches have stayed for more than 5 years recently?

We have an excellent squad and need someone who can come in and win immediately. This whole waiting for 3 seasons to 'build the team' is bollocks. The fans have every reason to demand better results and silverware with this team.

If and when there is a new manager, he will have problems to resolve all over the pitch:

Goalkeeper
Right back
Central defence
Central midfield
Pogba
Right wing
Striker

It's not a case of this being a ready made squad that just needs the right manager.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

how is he perfect - no more experienced than Ole

Dude wins 3 UCL and delusional fans think he's "no more experienced than Ole".

Like dude, he may not be the right choice, but he's a better choice. This squad is made to at least compete, we've spent the money, the owners have invested massively (finally), and we're going to waste a year or two extra because the fan base won't push getting rid of our manager.

No more experienced than Ole

The guy has won 3 CLs and the league title with Real Madrid. How many managers or even clubs have 3 CLs? I am not saying he's the right choice, but it's a massive stretch to put him and Ole in the same bucket.

but he's not experienced. which is what i said. how many years in the game as manager? how many teams has he led to success? I didn't say he was as poor as Ole or that he hadn't won anything. Also look at some of the Real performances and how he lacked the ability to change things. whatever anyone says about Jose, he could affect games, as can Klopp and Pep

This is indeed RAWK levels of delusion. Ole is not a bad coach, but he's nowhere near the elite coaches.

It seems to me that people want us to be like Chelsea. No clear direction, no clear identity, just ruthless consistent spending and constant switching of managers the moment they inevitably hit a rough patch. With 4 major trophies in the last 10 years it has worked out for them, but I do think that these stats flatter their methods.

CL 2012:
A prime example of cup madness. They finished 6th in the league and shithoused their way to a CL trophy. The caretaker manager who achieved this didn't survive for long.

Conte and Mourinho's PL trophies:
Both came during what can only be described as a dark age of English football. Post Fergie and before Klopp and Pep's good teams. An era where Spurs and Leicester were genuine top teams and Van Gaal tried to win games by boring the opponent to death.

CL 2021:
Fair play. They played well but they also had a very underrated team.

______________

Overall, I don't think Chelsea's model is a good one, personally. Liverpool has simply been fortunate to get Klopp, who's clearly special. City is City. No magic behind their methods.
Chelsea’s mind set is to win no matter how much they spend or how many managers they fire but they win something. Man United shouldn’t copy them but the fans shouldn’t care about who the manager is as long as he is winning. For example, most of the fans in here are against Conte and Zidane, two of the best five managers in Europe. If I were a United fan I wouldn’t care much about style, tradition or bling bling football. I would only care about winning.

I don't want "better". better than pretty damn poor isn't good enough. How long has Zidane been a boss for? How many teams has he led to success? Why was he sacked by Real? I've said from day one that Ole was wrong for us - so hardly delusional.

I get your point, but don't think experience is that big a factor though. He was with RM for a decent amount of time and won a lot of silverware for that to be luck.

But it's totally worth taking a punt on him because he's a proven winner. He's a pragmatic coach, but he gets results. For what it's worth, I think Conte is better for us, but Zidane is absolutely a better choice vs Ole.

He wasn't sacked by Madrid. He resigned due to problems with Perez.

Surely your post is jest? It's like saying you wouldn't want Pep after he left Barca because he only did it at one club. You can tell the pedigree of a manager without having a 25 year CV. Like I said I don't know if Zidane is the right guy, that's for our board to determine and Zidane if he even wants to come here. I just know Ole is finished at this club and the quicker we make a decision the better. No reason we can't just fire the next manager anyways. Hell if we hired Conte, he'd leave on his own if it didn't go well here. He was sacked from Real because he went trophyless for one year and didn't get along with Perez. He may not be the guy to take us to a title, but he has a better shot than our current one.

It's because United fans are delusional in the idea of finding another SAF. it's an insult to his legacy for fans to think that we'll just be able to find another person who did what he did. He was unique and trying to capture that again will continue to kill the club.

He's won the league twice and the champions League 3 times.

He's out of a job so you wouldn't need to pay off a club.

He has a winning history with two of your best players.

He'll immediately have the respect of everyone at the club because if who he is.

It'll be a massive statement that you are lookih to win the big prizes.

Like I said, seems perfect.

As for Ole having more experience, yes, he has got 5 or so years managing Molde and Cardiff over Zidane.

Not impressed by Zidane. He had Ronaldo, Ramos,Kroos, Modric, Benzena, Varane at their prime.
We need someone that is a better strategist and keeps up with the changes in the game. Big fan of Tuchel but too late.

Dammit I was all in on Zidane until your last bit. No thanks.

This is sarcasm right.

If the main reason you want Zidane to manager Manchester United is because he has won three Champions Leagues and two La Ligas, it feels like you haven’t learnt the lesson of Mourinho.

Prior silverware does not beget future silverware in of itself.

How come?

Among the problems you list are goalkeeper (where we're okay), centre back (where we're strong), Pogba (who would typically be viewed as an asset rather than a liability), right-wing (where we have two of the most talented young players in Europe in Sancho and Greenwood) and centre forward (where we have Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, Martial and even Rashford at a push).

There how many squads stronger than us in all of Europe? Five? Six? Arguably less. Our team is stacked with talent. A few problem positions, sure, but that's common for most teams. Yet you're making us sound like we need a complete rebuild.

Personally I blame Rodgers for last season bottling it, we were been setup to not lose games instead of to win them, we thrashed WBA first half 3-0, then at FT he publically blasted the players for it. Next game we were back to been passive again. He started like a house on fire here, first 9 months or so played some lightning football, were Liverpool's main title contenders for a while but then after we got battered in two games by Man City and Liverpool, he changed up his approach and in my opinion hasn't really recovered since then in terms of performances but did to be fair to him still managed to get us another season mostly in top 4 before the second collapse, Somehow he maintained performances in cup games which ended up with us winning two trophies so am grateful to him, but he seems to have hit a ceiling in league.

This season he has been playing a massively out of form and probably injured player for most games, and been leaving out our top scorer from last season. So if you got him also be prepared for stubbornness on favourite players.
Thanks.
The changing style after being rattled by a big defeat and stubbornness to certain players reminds me a bit of LVG’s character.

Are you saying Zidane's already washed up???

We have to utilize the time we have Ronaldo. We should not have renewed his contract so fast. We should have waited 1st.

No, but you need to be process-oriented, not results-oriented. I’ve read very little about why Zidane would be a good choice, other than the fact he has won stuff with Real Madrid. Why was Zidane successful at Madrid? What makes him likely to be a success elsewhere?

I can understand the frustration but Ole is not going anywhere for at least another 2 years.
Yeah I can't see us missing top four even with McFred. Though I do predict a panic DM buy at Christmas.

Ole won't be sacked unless we miss top 4. These calls to sack him with us sitting level with City and Chelsea and 1pt of top spot are absolutely ridiculous.

We have the worst 'fans' in world football. What are you achieving with this agenda? Club have just given him a 3yr deal and backed him in the market so he's not being sacked.

Get behind him or go do something else until he's gone. You're worse than rival fans.

And so did Benitez who failed despite his reputation as a great tactician.

If Manchester United was a serious football club the board would already be looking for replacements and making the necessary contacts.

Unfortunately, it’s not a serious football club. We all know that the board/Glazers will dither until top 4 is no longer possible and the season is unsalvageable until they sack him and bring in someone else.

Abramovich had no problem sacking their club legend manager when they were performing like shit and went and brought in a top class manager who led them to win the CL. He’s a serious owner and takes winning and losing very seriously. The people who make decisions at United are either too stupid and/or romantic in their expectations to actually have the urge to make a change when’s it’s glaringly obvious that Ole’s “plan” and direction for the team is not working.

Instead, they’ve given Ole a 3-year contract extension based on nothing other than some “United Way” mindset (bullshit) that Ole seems to emulate - rather than the fact that he hasn’t won anything despite investing millions of pounds and creating no clear disciplined playing style.

My trust and faith in the club to act in any meaningful way to improve things is honestly at an all-time low.

It has all become rather tedious.

Sure, let’s all just mindlessly cheer on and accept the fact that our board is beyond incompetent and if you disagree - well then tough shit go take up knitting.
