I hope we don't tolerate failure in the Champions League (getting dumped out from the group stage) just because we're doing an adequate job in the league (in the top 4). It simply should not be acceptable to fail in the CL for the second year running after so much backing and investment.

The thing is...does Zidane need to build this squad from scratch? Hasn't Ole pretty much laid the foundation already? Now only CDM, a stellar ST (Haaland) and we are set.
When Zidane took over Madrid the first time, the biggest change he made was playing Casemiro in midfield instead of Isco and the rest is history. He was able to turn that Madrid side which started the poorly into a relentless machine, could he do the same here ? Probably not, as we don’t have the “Casemiro” to bring into the side.

Potter would be the one for me. He knows the league, plays good football and could build a side that can compete for a few years over a quick fix.

Marco Rose, Ten Hag and Gasperini would be my top 3 picks. I wouldn't be mad if we went for Potter either. I hope we stay away from Zidane and Conte.

Potter is a good shout but how he would deal the expectation of winning every game and management of the dressing room would be interesting.

Zidane, Conte and Rose are good recommendations with Zidane being the best available manager imo on the market.

Rose has just joined Dortmund. He's not a realistic option, although a very exciting coach.

If Ole was to leave right now, managers such as Ten Hag wouldn’t want to join until the end of the season anyway. So what’s the solution ? Stick with Ole till the end of the season or go for another caretaker ?

Bosz hasnt won anything either though and is more kamikaze and naive compared to Ten Hag.

But would have us playing infinitely better football than Ole, in 3 weeks and not 3 years.

Only Ole makes fans believe that it takes so long to implement a brand of football.

Some even belief that there are no such things as brands of football or we can't see it or we're just being hipsters!
Absolutely.

My personal preference is for us to hire one of these gifted coaches whose team's have a certain excellence in how well organised they are. From what I read and hear the Ajax Coach is definitely one of those. So, someone like that will IMO be transformational for a club that is still stuck in the early 00s from a footballing perspective. It's been my view for absolutely ages now. Even when people were yearning for Jose.

Failing that obviously we can go for an established coach who is consistently successful like Zidane or Conte but personally do feel that a coaching revolution is far more of a necessity at OT. People keep focusing on the results, goals assists etc whereas quality of football is usually ignored hence mood swings based on patches of form. For me, the football on the pitch simply hasn't developed.

I'd start the process of hiring now. If we identify Ten Hag (I'm sure we won't) as the man, then agree the move with him now. If he's only good with coming in the summer, Ole is fine until then. He's not a bag egg and it'll be hard to get real quality for a short period anyway.

Potter did a great job with Östersund (a skiing town) in northern Sweden and took them to EL. He is a great young coach. Can he cope with the pressure? He knows the league but Zidane has more European experience.
Brighton do play very nice football. He's definitely one to keep an eye on. Not sure about his record in the transfer market but seems a talented coach.

Feels like the logical move is for Rodgers to come to United and Potter to replace him

Zidane is really underrated.
Yes that Madrid Squad was elite, but to do 3 UCLs in a row is unreal. No great team of the past has managed this feat. Ole has excellent management skills, he's a nice guy, but zero tactical awareness.

Zizou has both. He really is up there with Pep and Klopp etc as one of the best in the world.

With the players in our squad, Zizou would take us to where we should be.
Zidane has explicitly said in the past that he has no tactical awareness.

Oh but knowing our board, that absolutely won't be seen as a failure!

Ten Hag is awesome. I feel like he's had quite some bad luck the past few years and sometimes the machine did stop working.

The Eredivisie is by no means the Premier League let's get that straight, but the football Ajax is currently playing, such dominant, attacking football, full of creating chances, suffocating opponents, only Bayern does that.

Ajax has a very good squad now, maybe better than during 18/19 (squad, XI is debatable). However the high Ten Hag has been able to achieve, the football, is something we'd never ever see under Ole even in the most favorable scenario.
Thanks for the reply. Agree with the Peak Ten Haag > Peak Ole

I still maintain that if Ajax went to the final of the CL, they would have lifted the trophy. The fact that for the first time since 1996 they literally went toe to toe with European giants with the limited resources they had just shows what an amazing managerial prospect Ten Haag is.

I wasn't sure that he was ready to make the next step, but reading your post fills me with confidence that he's going to be a top manager. Sadly though, we will persist with Ole and will pass him up(just like we did with Tuchel and Poch) and hire someone like Simeone or Conte, then bite out elbows when he's going to crush it at Barca/Bayern.

I like Rodgers. But he’s getting a bit of a reputation as a bottler. I know what he did in the past two seasons at Leicester was amazing to even have them in the CL spots near the end of the season. But the end of season collapse is concerning, not sure if it was him, bad injuries, or small squad etc but it’s something to consider and look into before deciding on him. But he is probably my first choice.

Would love to see someone like ten Hag coaching ManUtd. Ole won't be sacked as we aren't proactive in making decisions.

The simplere solution would be to pair Ole with a great 2IC, like Fergie had with Carlos. Mike Phelan, Carrick etc aren't doing it - Ole can remain as the head

Luis Enrique, ten Hag, Zidane.

If new manager approves and Ole is interested then I'd leave him working with young players or being in some sort of man manager role.

It's funny that everyone is convinced we will stay with Ole, I get it that the board wants to try to prove we are doing things the United way and all that jazz but I don't see them letting all the current investments go down the tube. Especially with the idea of splashing big on a striker next season, Idk. just doesn't make sense to me

Some of the suggestions here are so bad I would rather keep Ole, especially Conte. Mancini or ten Haag are also rather underwhelming.

Think he will be sacked anyway. I just hope it’s not gonna happen too late.

We look so shit with the amazing team we got. And this is Ole’s fault.

We play such cowardly football. We don’t go after opponents, we dont even want to attack. Just wait and hope football is not gonna win us anything.

Compared to us, Brentford is 5 times more entertaining at the moment.

I’m kind of sad of all this new manager crap. We have only started season and have done well and just because we don’t have only W record, people are ”playing” fantasy manager here.

"We have only started season", yeah, right. As if we should completely forget nearly 3 previous years with Ole in charge which were exactly the same as the start of this season. The fact that we keep improving the squad but still have the exact same issues and crap performances we did 3 years ago should be quite an obvious indication that our coaching staff isn't doing a great job. But since some of you quite clearly support the manager more than the club, you fail to see it.

Surely it’s madness to think Conte would be a worse option than OGS. A 2 year deal with an optional 3rd would mean you’d get all the short term benefits. He’s an excellent coach, at the level of Klopp, Pep and Tuchel.

Been on and off the fence so many times about Ole I can never make my mind up, complete stupidity on his behalf to go into this season with mcfred for one. If he were to go it has to be Rodgers or Potter for me, not interested in conte given his dramatical exits from previous clubs and zidande I'm not sure would work out here.

Not from a success point of view. But I don't like Conte's personality (I think there would be too much drama again in the team) and his football is rather boring, defensive

I think it’s overplayed how “defensive” he is. His teams are good at defending but they do it aggressively, in a different way to Mourinho. His Chelsea team were very good to watch and his Juve teams were all high pressing and would play 42-4 at times. His football is much more progressive than OGS in that all of the movements and patterns are property coached and drilled. There would be drama but thats the same with lots of coaches.

Another disingenuous argument. Nothing specific to support Ole, so just come out with rubbish.

Yes, people who want him out want 100% win record. That's it. Nothing to do with our performances.

Jogi fits all the criteria! Excellent man management. Clear philosophy. Capability to build a legacy over the next 25 years. Proven Coach with huge success. And most importantly a figure demanding true respect!

I bet it will be Jogi Loew..... that would cause absolute disaster and the chance for the trainer after to become a complete legend.

Going for the more known name while ignoring the guy with greater potential than him who also plays better football.

That seems exactly like something the United board would do.

The problem with going for Potter is he is a big gamble. Which is fine. Nothing wrong with a brave decision like that per se. However we lack the proper structure at the club to support him. And we lack proper decision makers who you can have faith in to recognize if an appointment such as Potter is not working out and make the necessary change.

After Ole the board will 100% go for a proven winner so I don't see it being either Brendan or Potter.

At the moment they would consider Zidane or Conte I guess. Conte is the obvious one if you want to win but also difficult to manage.

Ole would have been a fairy tale if it worked, but realistically it was very unlikely to. He is so far behind the managers of the other top teams in the league it's unreal.
