It must be really toxic for Poch to be so desperate. Its a guaranteed league title and a chance to wipe off the "haven't won a trophy" reputation
I don't think anyone in the game really cares about how many French league titles they have if they managed or played PSG in this era. It's like Brenden's Scottish league titles, mean next to nothing.

Seriously, if we get Poch sorted this week we've worked miracles here

I worry about this Poch' stuff. I am just not sure it's right. Just my personal opinion, but I would give it some time. Too many knee-jerk appointments have characterised things over the last few years.

Let's not forget, the caf's current favourite master taction was also floundering at psg last season and got the sack.

Everyone saying what has poch won… it’s probably the same people that want to give potter a chance, what has he ever won that makes people prefer him? Pochettino hasn’t really had a big job up until now where he’s managing PSG… everyone’s going on like he should be winning titles with spurs  He was very unlucky in the CL final against Liverpool if I remember rightly spurs was by far the better team… I’m almost certain that if we get poch he will win something with us once the players buy into his methods.

Tuchel wasn't extending his contract, he had personal issues with Leonardo and got himself in trouble with the Demba Ba "scandal". Otherwise Tuchel was an excellent coach for PSG.

People forget that other option is wait till summer and hope ETH takes over. Is it really worth it ? Or go for Rodgers now. Tired of this care- taker shit . We need someone now.

Also , if Poch fails here it's fine , he would atleast have integrated the kids to the team. We have such an elite talented group coming from academy. We would be a hardworking high pressing team by the team he leaves .

Can't think of any negatives at this point of time.

Poch over Rodgers all day long, and I don't even rate Poch.

Like others have said, it's gonna be Zidane to PSG and Poch to Utd. All the pieces are coming together.

The united way is 'not having an obvious system/approach and be a nice guy' apparently.

I don't get it, I really don't get it. Is it because he's the best qualified manager who fits their timid personality type of not kicking up a fuss while the Glazers, Woodward and co all play at Disney FC and give each other jobs? Or do they genuinely feel he's the man who will deliver the club success? He's won absolutely nothing of note.

Can't believe people want Rodgers, his teams play a shite brand of football and choked 2 years in a row to make the CL. I can understand the Ten Hag love but unfortunately he's unproven in a non-farmers league. If the Glazers back Poch and he fixes the midfield, I think Poch can have great success with this squad.

If it was their dream, why didn't they go for him years ago instead of sticking with Ole... the absolute clowns.

Yeah that is a very good point and if we loved him so much would have made this appointment this time last year

For those confused why Ten Hag is so highly rated, a lot of it is down to how his team plays in the CL. He has no reason to be as high up in this list given the budget constraints at Ajax. Feel free to ask for more names and i'll add them on the list, I just went through Managers currently at top clubs in the CL (and Conte).

It's starting to look inevitable. We'll get Poch and PSG will hire Zidane. I'm feeling perfectly fine with that. In fact out of all the managers post Ferguson I'd say I feel more optimistic about him than any of them.

I'm on board with Pochettino provided Ten Hag doesn't go somewhere else in the league as I fear

If we can get Pochettino now we should 100%.

This interim manager stuff for 6 months was only acceptable because a target wasn’t available. It’s far from ideal.
Bang on.

We shouldn't "hope" on anything. If we go the interim route, whoever our top candidates are agrees now to join us in the summer or they can feck off.

What has Pocchetino ever won?

Who else is available that has won anything of note? Winning the Eresdivisie with Ajax isn't exactly a miracle, and winning the SPL with Celtic is about as tough as buying bread at the baker.

Before going to PSG, Poch had managed Espanyol, Southampton and Spurs. Not winning trophies with those clubs isn't exactly failure. He took fecking Spurs to the CL final, which is a more impressive feat than anything most managers ever accomplish. And if not for a freak handball penalty in the first minute of that game, Spurs might very well have won the CL. Then Poch would have been hailed as one of the modern greats.

People get too hung up on trophies without taking a moment to think about the context. If he'd managed Barcelona, Bayern and Chelsea without ever winning anything, that might have been worth pointing out. But he's been at three clubs that haven't won anything in a million years, and yet he came within arm's length of an absolutely amazing feat that would have left us pleading with the board to sign him in 2019.

Besides, PSG are 11 points clear after fourteen games. For all intents and purposes, he has already won the league there.

Point being that it's beyond idiotic to ask what he has ever won as if he should have won something but wasn't good enough to do it. In my mind, reaching the CL final with Spurs is a considerably bigger feat than winning a title with City, Bayern, PSG, etc. Poch did astonishing things at Spurs, playing some of the best football in England for several years until the club had the opportunity to sign Mourinho and went for it. By the way, as soon as Poch left them, Spurs plummeted from consistent top 4 finishes to 6th-7th place.

People talk as if Pochettino has accomplished nothing of note. Christ almighty.

No, me too, I'm skeptical but we probably should have appointed Poch when Mourinho left but Levy wanted something like £30m just so we could speak to him, then he fired him a few months later. So this one kind of feels different.

I've gone off Poch a bit the more I research. PSG fans don't rate him. Hard to pin him to a specific approach or style in his tactics. He's sexy and a nice chap. I don't think we should kid ourselves that he was working with no marks at Spurs either. When he did recruit, he had some right clangers too.

I'm wary.

If playing 6 games across a tournament that includes every team in France is a 'Charity Shield' then sure, why not? How does your argument hold up when they win the league at the end of the season? "Charity league"?

I don't know mate I was just responding to the poster's question.

I just can't picture Poch winning us the league or CL. I can't picture it at all. He strikes me as yet another nearly man, unless the stars align and our rivals all really stumble.

If we can sort Pochettino this week or next then I'd be very happy. I'd pretty much written off our season with all talk of an interim until the Summer. The sooner the new manager comes in the better.

My take is that, especially given that we know Fergie loves him and has wanted him at the club for a while...

1. He kicks up enough of a fuss when he feels he needs to, but doesn't tip the boat in an explosive manner like say Mourinho, which is just about the best we can hope for I think considering the board won't take anyone that is too confrontational
2. He's had multiple seasons of experience in the Premier League
3. His multiple seasons in the Premier League have been, arguably, "successful" when taking into consideration the resources available to him
4. His footall can be attractive to watch, it certainly isn't a Pep or a Ten Hag but it's not dreadful either, depending on the situation of course
5. He has a great record with youth players in the Premier League, the likes of Deli Alli, Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw etc they flourished under him
6. Unfortunately for us he has a great record of working with what he's got, which means it's likely they won't consistently break the bank on new signings, but go for cheaper ones I would imagine
7. He's a manager on the younger side that likes a project, seemingly that's what our owners want to, rather than a 1-2 season manager

Add whatever else i've missed and I can see why they are so turned on him

And now we miss out on ten Hag? Who will end up going to city to replace pep in a year

cheeky bid for pep?

Pep’s made it known his next managerial job will be at an international level. City are a pretty well run club. It wouldn't surprise me if it's already talked about that after the world Cup (end of 23 season) Pep goes to manage Spain and Enrique takes over at City. Both have a similar style so it wouldn't affect either team too much.

And what about the people wanting Hag? Older and won nothing of note and no PL experience. Utterly bizarre for me.

Yea PSG is a shitshow behind the scenes with all the egos and money involved.

All of their managers since Blanc have complained over how things are set up there and apparently everyone associated with the club hates the man with the most power at the club, their sporting director Leonardo, with a passion. From the stars, your Mbappes, Neymars etc to the last 3 managers reportedly.

Add in his family still being in England and it's a no brainer why he'd want the job

AVB had a higher win percentage at Spurs then Poch

Listening to Mitten at the moment. Mooting Rudi Garcia as being interested in the interim post.
