Agreed totally. For once i hope to just get the best candidate for the job, dont even mind writting this season off if it means we get the best there is in the summer.

It's a write off anyway. This is now 2022 pre-season and the interim manager can do all that if it's the right guy.
By which time Ronaldo will probably be coming to the end of his contract anyway.

Who knows what will happen at PSG,Liverpool,City, Chelsea,Bayern,Barca,Real,Juventus etc over the next few months. It's highly likely at least 2-3 of them will be looking for a new manager and he will be top of their list.
Potter is a gamble in the same way Moyes was, I think.
I'd still take him over Rodgers.
I’ve just seen an interview after the Ajax match today where he was asked about the United. He refused to rule himself out, even refused to rule out leaving mid season which was very surprising. In fact it was almost as if he was hiding something.

You are assuming the manager + club he is at would accept leaving mid-way, which is fair enough, but should that not be the case i don't mind being patient if it means getting the best candidate.
Why is it a right off? The squad we have is capable of winning anything (ok maybe not the PL this season).
I know we’re all a bit disenchanted after the last few weeks but a good manager can get something from this side.
The bolded part is why, there is a fair chance that we don't get a good manager in the short term.

We're probably not going to win the PL But the season as a whole is hardly a write off.
We still have to fight for top 4, CL is a big ask but not impossible just like Chelsea last season, and FA Cup is still a trophy. We have the squad to put up challenges in these areas.
Not sure who you're thinking of, but he's not managed Rennes?
His pressing is a good transition for us to be an organised pressing team, it's not a full team press, it's tactical and would suit our players better.

If we are getting Poch or ETH we then spend a year teaching players how to high press, getting rid of the ones who can't and targeting new ones who can. While we do that we are going to lose a fair few games of football.
So I suggest we start now and get an interim manager who can begin the process. Liverpool and City had to go through that pain under Klopp and Pep. So did Chelsea under Lampard. So will we.

That’s true. However likely that is though, we can only wait and see who comes through the door. Until then it’s pointless getting too down or too optimistic about this managerial change.
And I know there’s a lot left to be desired about how we operate as a club and the severe lack of planning. But a manager who can bring this squad together and gain a bit of momentum can pull something off.

When they started - though Pep had quite a lot of ground work laid for him already by having his Barca cronies already there. You remember Klopp's first season at Anfield? Finished 8th? Pep finished 3rd in his.
But ETH said in his interview that he hasn't been contacted by our club. So unless he is lying, it may be that Poch, Zidane and Bodger are our only targets.
If we are looking at Rogers or Potter we wouldn't be waiting until the end of the season which makes me think they aren't under consideration.

He went out of his way to not say no when the reporter gave him every opportunity to.
It doesn't mean he's joining us, but it does mean his future at Ajax isn't set in stone come next season.
We should be making moves on him as of right now to be with us next season.
