Elon Musk! he'll take us not just to the top of the table. To the moon!

After browsing some manager threads on the front page, I've only seen Poch mentioned a few times. Most of those lean towards not rating him, some would even put him below Rodgers and Potter for example. Coupled with the fact that there's no seperate thread for him, guess he's not rated that highly in caf.Is this a recent change of mind after he failed to win Ligue 1 in his first season or it's been like that since his time at Spurs?

I'm new here so that's quite surprising really. He's shown that he could overachieve and play on the front foot with a lesser squad just like Potter, but also had the experience of challenging at the highest level. Compared to Rodgers, his work also seems more impressing. In their 5 full seasons, Poch would average ~75pts while it's 67pts for Rodgers and that is with Suarez going crazy. In terms of choking, I still don't think Rodgers is any better...

I think it got to a point where he was heavily overrated on here, now it is probably too far the other way. He'd be a decent option, once available.

I think most wanted him a few years ago and worry now we would be getting him too late, like LVG and Jose. For what its worth I would bet my house he's the next manager, we're trying to work out a plan how to deal with Ole and wait for PSG to sack Poch at the same time.

We pay PSG £10-15m and they get ZZ in to take over? Would Poch want the job though?

For me the biggest criteria for any new manager is their likelihood to be able to overcome Klopp and Pep. Poch to me just seems to be a Pep stylistically but worse. Trying to do the same thing but in a worse way just makes it unlikely we will win a trophy under him which his personal record shows. Klopp and Pep are the best at what they do respectively. I would fancy our chances more with a manager with their own style rather than becoming a poor man's version of Pool or City.

I'm seeing so many posts mentioning Rodgers and Mancini that I'm beginning to wonder if tribalism means something nowadays.

Whoever it is, they are going to have the most enormous amount of pressure on their shoulders which in itself creates a problem before anyone has even started.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that puts most of the top coaches already in jobs off, which only leaves us with 2nd rate options. Therefore the cycle of underachieving continues, possibly getting even worse.

Be careful what you wish for Reds.

I mean yeah, I agree that it would be tough for Poch to overcome those 2 if they just take turns having seasons in the high 90s range. That applies to any new manager, though, especially since the only candidate with history of getting a 90-ish season is already snapped up. Still, Pep's soon to leave and Pool are showing more cracks with injuries and in their midfield, I think Poch or ten Hag would have a fighting chance.

Don't have the same optimism about Potter and Rodgers, however. Not that I'd be underwhelmed by Potter, but he's so much of a coin toss (like Poch back at Soton or Klopp at Mainz) I don't see us taking a chance. Rodgers, I don't have much problem with his history, just feel like his ceiling is few levels below EtH or Poch, so even more likely to be also-ran in the league while also shit in the bed in Europe.

I think it says more about out current managerial/coaching situation to be honest. After Liverpool dismantled us I think a lot of options suddenly became a whole lot more viable.

If or board decide to finally choose a long term coach with substance that will win Trophies, then I'd have to say Erik Ten Hag is definitely a Man for Man-U.

Poch is way more like Klopp. He’s not really that like Pep at all, relatively speaking. Far more direct and physical than Peps teams.

Why are there so few top football managers compared to 20 years ago? If Chelsea sacked Tuchel tomorrow who's the Hiddink equivalent etc they could bring in?

Not related to Ole necessarily just looking for opinions...

A lot of the Hiddink types of this generation are still in jobs, be that with clubs or national sides.

Ancelotti, Mancini, Benetiz would be similar stature but are all already working.

I would be all for Pochettino IF we saw the guy that managed Spurs before the 2019 Champions League Final, there is no doubt that his stock has certainly dropped since losing that and still hasn't really recovered his reputation

Valverde, Favre are options

Face it people the next manager will be Ole's son taking over him in about 15 years time

Try telling our clueless board that
Our clueless board thought Ole was a good idea back in summer 2019 when plenty of top candidates were available.

They also gave him a new contract after the calamitous EL final this summer when again, a whole host of top candidates were available.

Yeah precisely why I have switched off emotions about Utd until he's gone

Pochettino, and it sums this management up that we passed on him for over a calendar year, while winning nothing and racking up middling league performances, all in the hope that we would step up a notch.

The talk about "bottling" titles will always follow him, because a lot of people seem to think a Spurs manager should somehow be expected to win titles. But he remains one of three managers to have finished above Guardiola in the Premier League, with a squad assembled at a fraction of the cost

I am begging PSG sack Pochettino NOW and give our clueless yankee leeches a permanent option
