I think the Virgin Draft would be a better way to severely restrict the pool. It also allows relatively less well known players from the major countries rather than trying to sell a player as the best ever to play for San Marino.

I vote for Invictus's virgin draft. Should help freshen up the pool considerably imo. Let's see what the majority wants.
What about this:
1. We randomly pick a player to start with, who gets blocked for the rest of the draft.
2. First manager picks a teammate of the above player (either competitive game at NT or club level) for the next manager in line, who has the option to keep that player or not.
3. If he doesn't opt to keep the player, the first manager gets it.
4. Normal snake order.
For example we randomly pick Heskey to start with.
Drafting order is:
Sjor
Harms
Gio
Sjor picks Owen, but then harms passes and Sjor gets him. Then harms picks Fowler, Gio takes him, makes the next pick etc.

I'm easy. Would fancy something more focused on a theme or pool (e.g. specific decade / league / country / etc).
Prima facie, don't think the block list for the virgin draft is really that restrictive.

I guess if any all timers slipped the net, they could be banned like did Stefano. Either every drafter nominates a player to be blocked (we had a block round in one of the earlier drafts iirc) or we PM Invictus those players so that he can block them at his own discretion.
Reckon its best not to name those unpicked players out in the open though.

How about a modern auction draft? Goes nicely with the transfer window right now.
Last modern one was October 2018. That was a born post-85 pool minus the big two.
I was thinking of a sheep draft with a twist.
So the reason for the twist is to punish playing safe.
The difference from your usual sheep draft would be -
1. All players who passed will be revealed every round instead of after 3 rounds.
2. So you will know which gems are still available and can go for them in the next rounds
3. There is literally no incentive to play safe and not be aggressive.
4. Sheeps to be allocated only after 4 rounds. So even more incentive to not play safe.
To make up for the extra round w.r.t time -
Round 1 - 16 hours
Round 2 - 12 hours
Round 3 - 12 hours
Round 4 - 8 hours
All time pool.

I'm always in for a sheep draft. I do think the not playing safe will actually end up with more sheep, or more likely the big players getting blocked more often, but I don't mind that.
I'm in, but please don't ask me difficult questions.
