New Zealand vs England

feckkkkkkk. How run out off the second last ball!!! 2 runs needed off the last delivery. Cracking end to this game. Great work from Anderson there.

Brilliant game.
With 6 overs to go, i'd of taken a tie, but Vettori should of been given run-out, if the third umpire was'nt slacking.

202/7 off 47 overs.

Doubtful to be enough, shame for us.

Wright put in a decent innings, and really should be further up the order, maybe open with him.

If Mascarenhas does something amazing in these last overs, we might at least be able to get in range of a workable target, the cause won't be completely lost. Just need our attack to turn up like New Zealands' first.

:D

Well how about this eh? More like it.

Quality from Mascarenhas..

EDIT: 22 off the final over.

242/7, that ahs a nicer sound to it. Just maybe...

22 off the last over 242 of 50 overs. That's a good score to defend.

It was a rather dumb decision to have a part time baller take the last over. Probably come back to haunt New Zealand now.

Well I'd almost forgotten about the Test Match, with all the Champions League excitement and everything.

NZ are 23-0 after 10 overs.

Ian Bell just gone off after being hit by the ball fielding at silly mid-on. Got a nasty blow and his hand/wrist is quite badly swollen already.

We were doing ok until Harmi came on.

EDIT - Harmi gets a wicket!

44-1 now off 13.4

 at me.

feck, i missed the wicket!
Harmison bowling straight?

Seems to be bowling on leg alot in this over. He's gone for 26 of 4 overs now.

Boycott is suggesting they call up Adil Rashid if Bell's injury is serious, if my ears aren't deceiving me. Rashid can bat a bit, but I'd prefer a specialist batsman personally.

EDIT - Do we have any? Call up Stuart Law!!

The phrase "good touch" annoys me. Particularly when Athers always says: "He was in good touch last evening".

Just say "He played well yesterday afternoon".

Who says "last evening"? Nobhead.

Anyway. Whats the score? Oh it's 102 for 1.

Sidebottom bowling accurately as ever but hard to see where the wickets will come from. 108 for 1 now.

EDIT - I've done it again! Sidebottom gets a wicket!

108 for 2

Finished 281-6.
England will be marginally happier after losing the toss on a flat, slow wicket.

Well - not going well for England now. NZ are 387-6 at lunch.

And apologies to Michael Atherton and his extended family for my drunken rant against his commentary skills last night.

NZ 470.
Eng 87-2, losing Hoggard as a night watxhman.
Looks like a draw or loss for us now.

Yeah i'd say that a draw is the best that we can hope for, we don't have the attack to push for any better [If not for Sidebottom...well le't not think about that reality eh lol] regardless of how we bat from hereon in.

If Strauss can replicate his last knock i think that'd be handy, and the luck went with Vaughan at the end of yesterday so may that continue.

I know we've been hearing encouraging news as goes Bell's injury but even so, you have to wonder.

Well that was like watching 6 Geoffrey Boycott's.
Scored at about 2 an over and ended up 287-6, should be enough to save us the game.
But has vanquished all chance of us winning it, barring a NZ score of less than 150.

Bloody hell, it's getting worse.
A run rate of 1.65 so far today.

Sidebottom Hat trick!

Last one I saw was Dom Cork against the Windies, well I dunno about 12 years ago?

About 30 minutes ago NZ were turning the screw, and England still had a job on to save the game. Suddenly, England are in a potentially winning position if they take a wicket or two more tonight

Even if they get the 2 wickets early, they've still got an uphill task in getting 300 in a day (especially when you batters have been in billy blocker mode!)

Could be a cracker now, i'll be staying up for it.
Supposing we skittle 'em early on,
One of our top order needs a hundred, prefferably Pietersen as he will score it at a good rate.
However, with it being England, i reckon we'll bottle it and lose.

300 would be pushing it, it's true. But given this game was heading for a dire draw, it is at least alive again. England take the last 2 wickets quickly, have 280 to chase, bat a normal paced session and a half getting beyond 100 for the loss of no more than 2 wickets. Then go at em in that final session

I often wonder why I sodding bother

4/7 Martin was. Complete mental breakdown from the England opening batsmen, it's pathetic. All our national teams have the same fragile mental state, I just don't understand it

Let's see if Collingwood can bail us out and dig in for a couple of sessions

I can see Sidebotton scrapping with the tail, for an un-deserved draw.
Sidebottom the only player with any fight in our side, Collingwood gives his all also.
Mills 4-7, and he's not much better than a county swing bowler.

That would be Mills. I'm glad NZ have pulled it together, because after yesterdays atrocities I was almost ready to never watch a testmatch again! Collingwood is the key for you salvaging a draw, he's shutting up shop pretty well at the moment.
