this is starting to feel like building a new ballroom on the titanic, after its hit the iceberg
Agree

This project should be shelved for a decade.

There's a few things you could do to the current ground like fixing the leaks etc and getting some better beer in K Stand to improve the current matchday experience.

This is just pessimism bias. The stadium needs revamping, the funding from that will be largely from loans which will be paid off by the increased revenue.

It needs doing. Do it. Waiting for the club to start winning before you start just means it might never get done.

Maybe, but when added to the job cuts, financial restraints and on-pitch problems etc, what message does it send out to existing players and staff, prospective new players, investors, sponsors, advertisers and (esp) fans etc, if the club is just fixing up a tired old stadium for another bit, while other clubs are striding ahead with new stadia of their own?

Which delaying for another decade denies the potentially enormous extra revenues a 100k stadium should generate?

Never mind eg Real Madrid, but even the likes of Everton recognise that!

Ridiculous.

These things take a bit of time, and it’s not even been that long since the last communication. There are lots of things to bring together. There appears to be a will to move forward from the owners, local and wider government - this happens rarely, and the opportunity needs to be grasped.

The only way United will be able to move forward is with a new stadium or completely refurbished OT.

This is a crazy post. The stadium project will probably take a decade to complete, why you would want to delay that I don’t know.

I’m sure the club are working towards having a team fit for a shiny new stadium long before it is built, especially if we want to be winning the league in 3 years time.

We can't afford to give staff a free lunch ffs.

No serious money should be sent on planning/building a ground until we have got our shit together.

Spurs and Arsenal curbed spending after their new grounds were built. We always tightened purse strings after stadium expansion. Sadly we're not in a position of strength anymore so a new stadium could set us back even more.
