New forum for football talk

You wouldn't get in

You're exactly the type of spastic that brings the place down....

That's got to be a joke right?

I know KingEric7 hates me but he's a good poster on here IMO

I'd envisage the new forum to be quite slow traffic wise, with the vast majority of the posters on it also posting on the football forum

It would just include threads which could go on for a week plus and added to whenever, without being interupted by some random spastic claiming that "tOOris is Shit"

It might seem a bit harsh on newbies who are decent who wouldn't get an invite straight away, but on the other hand, the better posters seem to be less arsed with posting in the football forum thesedays...which will ultimately continue to bring the site down

General's rubbish as well. Full of gay e-flirting. A new forum could actually have football and general talk. Just one forum.

The other thing is... some of us (well, me) are not really interested in posting on the football forum. Most of the reason why I'm here is just to read what other people are saying (intelligently) about football. I agree that some of the posters here arn't too bright, but by having the "good posts" on invisible... then there's no real point for me to come here to read stuff *** football is there.

I agree with you, the e-flirting has ruined the general. I hope Plech comes back soon to restore order.

It's just my opinion of you based on anything I can remember you posting. You seem clueless

Naturally you'll disagree...perhaps you can prove me wrong

I do disagree but i will continue to post as i do.

I never meant to come across that way. We just disagree at times. :)
I was in quite a bad mood when i made that thread.

You could still see the new, non-spastic forum. It would allow those who want to be part of it to see the expected standard

And would also allow the cretins to start new threads in the football forum titled "OMG, DAVO SAID THAT VIDIC ISN'T THE BEST CB IN THE WORLD IN THE NON-SPASTIC FORUM. WHAT A SCOUSE WUM"

The general forum relies on a few strong posters to be around regularly to make it a success. This has always been the case

Doesn't seem like there are any such candidates around at the moment...

I try and stay away from the General now.

To many weirdos for me.

If the new forum is open, I kindly request to get permission to post there.

Some mod run through my posts and you`ll see that I post decent stuff in a decent way.

You mean that thread after the Portsmouth game?

IMO there's no need to make a new forum, just ban all the spastics from the football forum.

There should be another forum set up for football discussion, made up of senior posters only. This could obviously grow as newer posters prove themselves not to be utter spastics

There seems to be an influx of posters on the football forum thesedays who have no knowledge of the game whatsoever...it's embarrassing to read

I'm happy to provide a list of non-spastics if required

sorry but i fail to see how retarded posters can affect you directly through their odd posts. also your categorisation of spastic is far too subjective. bloody biased muptard.

That's the problem. I don't think I can actually?!

Maybe if you didn't refer to people as spastics it might help to create a nicer atmosphere?

Well put...... yet more double standards on the Caf..... only a supreme hypocritical twat can complain about things getting too childish and then use THE most childish insult as a base insult in the majority of his posts..... there is a group of supposed 'senior' posters in the Caf who are in the same petty boat.

Classic..... an idea typical of the pretentious, "Im redder than you" feckwits that seem to be breed like viagra fuelled rabbits on here.

It says it all when these useless posters make an appearance in a thread that's supposed to save the rest of us from them....

The e-flirting is completely ruining the general.

OK well first off it better be visible.........otherwise it will be kind of pointless and drive away those like me who read and rarely post. If u look at my post history they are generally serious posts with good content.......but it is probably going to be for those who have huge post counts to feel superior.
A far better idea is to set the rules that if you negatively contribute you can be relegated back to the newbie forum, not for a probationary period but simply persistent bad posting will send u back.
Besides if u can't ignore the stupid stuff and tear them to shreds with valid arguments of your own.......you shouldn't feel entitled to regard yourself as superior.

That's a fair idea.

Or possibly, if there are people who post in the Football Forum who are clearly not up to standards, they could be kept out of that particular Forum. They would still be able to read the threads, but would not be able to post in it.

That way, we don't have to create another Forum and separate posters because I don't think that would be fair. Also, who would be able to judge which poster should get into the elitist Forum or not? Certainly not Davo....

It should definitely be visible, and it should be in addition to the current football forum

It's easy to "tear apart" the spastics, but it becomes tiresome doing so in every thread, and the halfwits don't even realise it's happening half the time

There's basically no downside of doing this, bar some newer posters whinging that they haven't got access....and it would be down to them proving that they should be allowed in

There is a downside, and that would be having the left-over Football Forum, which would contain only idiots and wums and end up being some ridiculous Forum that everyone would complain about.

It would also mean more moderating, especially in the left-over Forum because of the amount of rubbish that would be there. It would also mean having to pick out the decent posters from the poorer ones which is a hard process, and would involve a lot of work by having to go through their posts to see if they qualify or not.

I don't think it would work to be honest, there would be a lot of angry posters who wouldn't deem it 'fair' to be left in a Forum full of wind-ups and idiots just because they aren't considered a 'Senior' poster.

I think a better plan would be to simply clean up the Football Forum and re-instate a strict policy that does not allow wums and idiots with the risk of a banning from that particular Forum if the rules are broken.

I wouldn't think it fair and would not like to be involved in it either.

Instead of making a new forum for football discussions, how about we keep the one we have but make the rules stricter.

Wind ups and the likes would result in bans. The United forum is stricter and seems to be a better place for discussions.

I`m not saying not to have banter. Just striking down harder on those who lower the quality of the forum.

Just like when the Guv had his time on the forum, hijacking threads and what not. The mods threw him out, that can be done with others as well.

There doesn't seem to be any will or desire to do this whatsoever from the mods. It is a lot of work, they would constantly be under attack for doing it, and it would cause havoc in some ways.

It was what was implied would happen when the floodgates started opening last summer, but I reckon it is just not worth the cost to the mods in aggravation.

I wouldn't think it fair and would not like to be involved in it either.

Why? Is the newbie system unfair?

The problem is that the floodgates opened right about the time you joined, so you've not seen what it was like before.

It used to require some semblance of real quality to get promoted. Now it requires 10 half-decent posts.

Just look at the football forums. It is attrocious, and it wasn't like this even a couple of years ago.

I know what you mean, but I would rather support a proposal to clean up the Football Forum and impose strict rules to counter the idiots that post there now, rather then create a separate forum for select posters.

I agree with just keeping it how it is and enforcing the rules a lot more.

There are a few ideas I can put forward though...

Seen as the general is taken up by social things maybe the one idea to look into would be creating a 'general football thread' which would contain more relaxed football posts like new shirt and that kind of type leaving the main football thread for more serious discussion.

For example, a general football thread could contain a thread of this nature (thread 1, thread 2 or thread 3). This would then leave threads like this, or this in the serious football discussion. I don't believe there is much of a problem with the Manchester United forum as you can't always have it perfect, can you..

With the whole idea of creating an elite group it will be a system like the newbies. You may clean up the content in the elite forum but as Davo said:
It's easy to "tear apart" the spastics, but it becomes tiresome doing so in every thread, and the halfwits don't even realise it's happening half the time
This would then be the same in the normal football forum where it is hard to 'shine' because the quality of posts is brought down.

I also had a similar idea in the newbies where poster's could advance certain level's and gain entry to the general, then the transfer forum, then the football forum etc..

This all leads to more moderating from the mods and admins, which I think is part of the problem in the first place as they cannot be around every forum, thread and posts. Maybe this could be solved with having the 'elite' posters you are speaking of having small moderating powers in the football forum or something along those lines.

we're too soft on newbies i think

If they haven't been promoted after 200 posts they should be banned because they're obviously wasting their time.

The footie forums do need cleaned up...and this season is the season for it. It needs the good regular posters to continue posting, dont let the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime destroy the threads, report the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime who take the threads off track, and we'll be along to delete posts/threads/posters.

However, and i want to make this absolutely clear, im not going to ban people simply because they support a different team. The forum would not survive if it was United only posters. It would turn into Red Issue. So, if you are a poster who prefers that environment, feel free to post there instead.

I think it's ridiculous to ban posters from different teams. That's one of the reasons I actually post in the Football Forum, to see a rival fans take on certain aspects of the game. That and the banter is often worthwhile, except when it is taken to the extremes by individuals.

I think your idea about the 200 posts one is interesting. It seems a bit cruel, but then again it does make sense. If a poster has 200 posts and can't be promoted when only 10 good ones are needed, it seems logical it won't get any better for them. I think as a fail-safe, before the newbie is banned, they should undergo a small review to make sure they haven't been overlooked by the scouts.

In terms of what you said about the football forum. I agree, I don't class myself as a 'good regular poster', but I don't think I'm like the wums or idiots there who don't have an ounce of knowledge about football, I've started to post there now and it's actually alright when theres debate involved.

I think in general many of the poster's do not mind other supporter's on the cafe as long as they act accordingly and don't simply wind up (apart from mancboi who went mad in one particular thread). I agree and encourage supporter's of a different team as it increases the discussion, view points, and banter. In fact, in the newbies I found myself having various debates and banter with 'cockneyhammer' which I believe helped the focus on posts and in turn the quality.

The newbies does its job of stopping banned poster's re-registering and keeping out the WUMS etc. The problem you may have is the skills level of the posters or the age group where they are at there 'level'. Maybe there is a need to 'educate' them on how to construct decent posts, not duplicate threads (mainly for attention), and leaving the jokes/one-liner or even the single  post for the general. This is something I never really saw being laid down in the newbie forum but then again this just comes down to enforcing the rules as has been said about the football forum.
