Nemanja Vidic - Thanks for it all

I remember when it was reported we're signing this Serbian centerhalf who is considered hard as nails. Didn't know him at all, but I had a good feeling about him.

He far exceeded my expectations. Anyone's expectations. Club legend.

Warrior, in his prime I never felt we would concede when he played. Legend.

Did anyone expect the impact he had? I remember recently seeing a thread some Serbian guy made on here about how good he was when we were being linked to him, but very few would have expected the monster he turned out to be.

Absolute rock. Definitely going to be watching some Italian football next season.

Arrived as an unknown. Leaves as our captain and an Old Trafford legend.

One of the very very best defenders we ever had, respected by the players, idolised by the fans.

Thanks for everything Nenamja. We will never forget you.

Well said.

Man mountain. Pure quality.

He won us a ridiculous amount of games for a defender, absolute rock and was more than deserving of being a United captain.

Thanks for everything Vida, you legend.

Our greatest ever centre back. Will be sorely missed, shame we didn't provide a mural or an end of season testimonial.

Him and Rio were the perfect partnership. Both strong and can read the game extremely well but had different things they were better at. I'll miss Vidic, and although I thought it was about time to phase him out/stop relying on him too much, I felt we should have kept him around if we could in some way.

One of my favorite players, I'm struggling to deal with it since his good-bye interview. Greatest of luck in Italy

08-09 was his best season. Over 10 goals, was the only outfield player to play 1400+ minutes that we kept a clean sheet in. Other teams barely had a shot to test Van Der Sar and that was mostly down to Vidic. He should've won PFA player of the year, but that Liverpool game cost him.

All the best Vida. Probably the best out and out defender I have seen in my time supporting United. A real warrior.

The best centre back I've ever watch. Thank you Vidic.

Nemanja ohhh. Nemanja ohhh. He comes from Serbia. He'll f***in murder ya!!

Heh, I actually think Rio was a better defender (and here longer) but he'd never get a reception like that. Probably because he's an idiot and Nemanja is a tough, lovable c*nt.

Absolutely spot on, there's no shame in not being as good as Ferdinand though. It's impossible not to love a character like Nemanja, going to miss him.

Cheers for everything, Vida. You were prepared to do a lot of things some players would never dream of on the football pitch as long as it was in the best interest of the team. It's been a pleasure watching you play. You can live on in my username!

Top, top centerback.

He was a part of one of the best defenses ever, with Rio, Evra, VDS and himself, all being in their prime at the same time.

At his imperious best, he was a colossus of a defender and the best center back I've seen. Him, VDS and Rio is quite easily the best I've seen in defense other than may be AC Milan of early to mid 00s. Gutted to see him go as I always expected him to retire with us.

Thanks Nemanja for making so many Serbian football fans proud of your achievements with Man Utd

Went from a complete unknown to arguably the best defender in the world in less than two years in 2006-2008

Gonna miss the big fella, thanks for everything Nemanja!

Is there any footage of post-match around? My stream cut out straight after the final whistle.

He didn't get to say a word... Looked a bit disappointed

Stam, Roy Keane and Vidic were the only hard men at this club. We need a new one. No, not Mata.

Probably my favourite player in the team. He was never one to just sit back and watch bullshit. He protected his players, intimidated other teams and he was a damn respectable person as well as a player. He was so dedicated when he went out onto the pitch and its been a real honour to watch him play for us throughout the years. Really sad to see him go but thats football, you have to move on in life. I really hate changes!

Heres to the future Vida! Thanks for everything, Captain.

Extremely poor cam quality. But the fans' reaction at the end says it all. :(

What a legend. I wish him all the best in life. Might be looking a while before we find a centre-back his level again.

:( Will miss him. One of all the all time best defenders of PL era.
