He isn't physically shot I guess, but he has always been on the slow side and with age that obviously gets more problematic.
Guess he has the positional sense and anticipation to compensate though if his only job will be to sit in front of the defence.

The physically shot comments are weird, a quick Wiki check shows he's only played 40 more club games than Lukaku and that number is smaller when you add international matches.

It can't really be explained by his age or miles on the clock, and yet when you watch him, he's obviously not the same player physically that he was a few years ago. Maybe it all stems from that Ashley Barnes horror tackle.

Yes possibly. He looks slower and is certainly much less aggressive/willing to use his physicality. Attempts fewer dribbles/aerial duels than he used to and loses the ball more-often on the occasions when he does. Less tackles too (although that one could partially be explained by Kante's presence). Overall, he's a player in decline, whatever the contributing factors.
50 million for a player that conte doesn't seem to have in his plans is madness plus he's 29ish. Think he would be a good signing thought.

Duncan Castles suggested that Matic would not be permitted to leave until Chelsea had identified a replacement (on top of Bakayoko). Perhaps Conte is planning to trigger N'Zonzi's release clause or bring in Fabinho etc once it looks like United will meet the asking price for Matic (both players would likely be cheaper than the Serb).
Can't imagine we'd go for such an expensive option.
He massively underperformed in 15/16 just like every Chelsea player except Willian and improved the next, so I'm not convinced he's on decline considering he just improved. 3 at the back limits the need for a DM and Kante is also known for his off the ball and defensive abilities so his profile is no longer needed. I'm not the biggest fan of this transfer because I don't think he'll complement Pogba well since both prefer to be on the left side of midfield, but I can see him being a success at Juve who's been more impressive than any side in the PL for a while.

That's correct, Telegraph have removed the snippet about Chelsea wanting £50m for him and us being close to signing him.
If we are gonna get fleeced I'd rather it was for Dier, I don't want either but Dier is much younger, more mobile, English and more agressive with room to improve where as Matic has already declined substantially.
I wonder if that's because the Matic rumours simply weren't true, or whether releasing that information was embargoed until later tonight.
If we're signing him, he has to play in a three. I fear for him against mobile pressing teams.
