The one thing against Matic is age. He will be 29 this summer and that means the peak window is closing. Would prefer a younger player.
I would rather go the other way round.Think / hope we'd go for Dier over Matic
He does. They might feel more assured defensively now with 3 CBs, 2 WBs and Kante. They might want a more box to box player in there instead of Matic.I'd rather go for Dier than Matic. Why would Chelsea sell him anyway, doesn't he start for them?
To the tune of dinner dinner batman.
Radja radja radja radja radja radja radja Naing-golan.
To the tune of what??!!!
The Adam West Batman theme!
No.I love Nainngolan but is he really a pure DM? Always seemed more box-to-box for me. Which is problematic given that we're specifically looking for a properly defensive DM to free up Herrera to be more box-to-box and Pogba to attack.
Either way, Matic isn't leaving Chelsea this summer.
Hopefully this is just lazy guff like the Willian stories and even Fabregas for a while, kinda like the lazy stuff linking us to every Dutch national team player when LvG was our manager.

fecking ridiculous... isn't a bit too late?
everybody knew he was the man we needed back then, but we got Fellaini instead.
But now we need to replace Carrick with a world class DM, not a Matic.
That too. I think there's a decently long list of reasons why this won't happen.Wasn't he one of the players who stopped playing for Mourinho back in 15/16?
Matic signing wouldn't make sense unless we're playing a 3 man midfield - which I doubt for a couple reasons. Mourinho's preferred system is the 4231, and signing Griezmann would imply us playing a 4231. In a 4231 too Matic is left footed and plays on the left side of midfield - same area Pogba plays.
Getting any DM for the sake of filling the role is bad business. The case with Schneiderlin is one such example - very good player but never really fitted in. We need a younger Carrick who sets the tone, calm presence and one who doesn't buckle under pressure.I love Nainngolan but is he really a pure DM? Always seemed more box-to-box for me. It's less so in a 2 man midfield because the players are more reserved, sure, but both of these players are more comfortable on the left side of the field. It's natural for players to prefer to play on their stronger side. I don't think Pogba has played on the right side - even in a 4231 - more than once or twice this season. If that. The left side of midfield is only when played in a 3-man midfield. In a 2-man midfield this isn't the case.
The MEN story seems far from lazy guff, even suggesting deal is close.

The story hasn't got a single source linked in it, just them claiming to have inside info, something that they've been woeful at for ages.

He had a massive fallen out with Mourinho before he got the sack at Chelsea
It's a nothing story
