I find it very peculiar that a Spurs fan would pay so much attention to United..

Exactly. This thread has nothing to do with spurs or spurs bashing. I have seen him just randomly show up in many of the united related content and start united bashing.

Has anyone ever seen Matic play in a 3 man midfield, as a holder?

I have only seen him play in a double pivot for Chelsea.

No, earlier this past season, he was playing next to Oscar in front of Kante in a 3. That was really fun to watch

People are so upset when we are linked with/sign Madrid's "rejects" but are happy when we sign Chelsea's "rejects"?

Not something that remotely concerns me. Madrid 'rejects' have won teams Champions Leagues e.g. Cambiasso and Sneijder with Inter and Robben with Bayern. I bet Juve fans weren't unhappy to sign Milan 'reject' Andrea Pirlo.

Its ridiculous to think that another team not wanting a player makes them useless. Are Lukaku and Mata useless by default because, once upon a time, they too were Chelsea 'rejects'? Should City sell De Bruyne because he's a Chelsea 'reject'?

Its entirely possible that a player might not work in one system but thrive in another you know? (Also, Matic wasn't even that bad in Conte's 3-4-3 system. He kept Cesc from getting regular starts for most of the season so I'd suggest he was doing something right!)

Can somebody order @GlastonSpur an Uber? His head is spinning in circles. Time for him to be taken home. Shocking shit coming out of his keyboard, altogether.

Don't agree with those saying Matic is 'entering' his prime. I like the signing but that's a load of bollocks. Physically a players prime is probably 24-28. Not beginning at 29.

Surely this depends on the player?

And mentally a players prime is probably 28-35, so when you look at Matic, and experienced destroyer in his late twenties, I'd say he's bang in his prime.

Nice analogy

The £89m purchase is working fine, just keeps hitting the post and seeing his through balls wasted...

Matic will help Pogba but people need to stop acting like Pogba's played badly. He's had a handful of bad games, Liverpool (H) being the worst. By and large he's played very well and just been let down, not in midfield but up front. I hope Lukaku's addition will change that.

Matic wont have a huge effect on Pogba. Lets see if Matic will start over Herrera first of all

Sooner or later, players like Dier, Alli, Kane, etc, will see that Spurs have very little ambition and will move on.

As I'm told every summer ... so I guess that we'll again go with "later" rather than "sooner".

Terrible analogy really. If anything, Matic would be that very durable Otter phone cover that would protect the phone so the phone would perform to its potential without the worry of.....

...I stop.

Terrible analogy but I'll take it over those weird girlfriend analogies that RAWK is so fond off.

They are utter nonsense. I blame it on football manager. People talking about resale value and all that cak.

Why do some on the caf care about resale value? We are not a selling club.

Provided Matic comes in and gives us exactly what Mourinho wants from his #6 what does it matter?

People are acting like we didn't sign Zlatan in his 30s? The logic behind some of these posts...Wouldn't have signed Pirlo when Juve did, he was over 30. If you can get a player who will make your manager's system work why would you not do it?
It's definitely FM influencing people. Everyone wants to see a team full of 21-24 aged players. Anything beyond that is bad. People seem to forget that this is real life and teams need experience to win things. We already have so many youngsters playing regularly in the team.

Besides Matic is not someone who relies on his pace to suddenly decline at 30. I think he has another 3-4 good seasons left. More than enough if he ends up helping us winning the title.

That's absolutely crap
I suppose that Liverpool fan thinks everything's hunky dory at Anfield then? Klopp losing 2 finals (The 2 Mourinho WON) and failing to finish above Rodgers in two seasons or sign any of his targets. Everything's going GREAT!

Can't stand those scouse twats. They're more concerned about us than their own lack of success.

I'm sure they meant it as an insult to us but isn't that what teamwork is all about? Sum of the parts etc?

Exactly my reaction to that.

A team (or an iPhone) needs all its parts to work in unison to achieve what it wants to achieve. Therefore EVERY signing is a contributing factor to everyone else on the pitch. It's a clueless 'analogy' that actually says: 'I don't get how football works'.
