He should be on the bench and only play when we're winning comfortably (which basically means, never). Too slow, takes many touches to make a simple sideways pass.

Negative slow and not good enough to be starting. Him and Fellaini is slow motion stuff on the pitch. He should be dropped, criminal to play 90 minutes at Old Trafford when we need to win.
A key reason why our passing from the back is poor is Matic. Too slow in possession, too passive and safe with his passing choices, popping little 5 yard balls off to Bailly and Smalling and then hiding when they are looking for someone to take responsibility.

Can't remember the last time we fielded a comatose midfielder. I thought he was great last season but my goodness, a 34 year old Carrick showed better energy levels than he has so far this season. No wonder Matic is so loyal to Mourinho, any other manager would have dropped him by now.

More an indication of how poor he had been the rest of this season. Plus today Fellaini was the weaker link in the midfield.
He's no longer a footballer. His decline has been completed about 12-24months earlier than i expected. Saw this coming in the last few months of last season and said he needed upgrading this summer. You know,like actual big clubs do when a first team regular has visibly declined.

To slow on the ball and often careless with his passing when he tries anything more than a safe sideways pass, as for his mobility, I expect jump jets to start trying to land on him any day now.
He doesn't even shoot from distance that much. That was one of his better traits and few good times caused errors among keepers.
I once drove a Bentley that had a smaller turning circle than this man. Why does he take so long to make fairly obvious passes?

Carrick as a coach ain't doing what's needed then, to ask matic to step up and pass the ball forward more purposefully.
Said it before, our form depends on Matic's form, he plays well the team plays well, he struggles we struggle as a team.

At this rate, our payers seriously risk being called LuMpaku and Static. Both together with Fellaini symbolize the current state of the team: big, cumbersome, immobile - the exact opposite of Liverpool, City and Chelsea.
Our problems start and end with the midfield issue and the problems are compounded with the poor coaching Mourinho applies. None of Pogba, Fellani and Matic Knows about when to break up the play and when and where to pass the ball. The positioning of the wide forwards and lack of movement is another problem to handle as well with an already ponderous midfield lacking energy.
Matic was a big let down at Chelsea in theirs season and exactly same is the case again and poor coaching and midfielders who don't help each other out compounds the total lack of control we lack in the middle.
Bought fred for the energy and he barely plays with two of Mohrinho's favourite Matic and Fellani always being preferred because he likes their physicality.

He is terrible. How he manages to avoid criticism in the press and with the tv pundits I have no idea. Encapsulates a lot of what is wrong with us at the moment in every performance he puts in.
He sure does like charging into tackles giving away fouls.

He avoids it because he's not so upfront in social media like Paul and, generally speaking, he's quite a respected player.
He's becoming slower and slower each game. He's either tired after the injury or age is catching up to him pretty quick.
For me he has been the biggest disappointment / worry this season despite other players getting the criticism. Genuinely looks like he's past it / legs have gone. Agree with what others are saying, he is one of the main culprits for our slow build up play, when do you ever see him playing a first time pass or having one touch and passing, it's always 3 or 4 touches before releasing the ball.
