I am guessing you are one of those who said Matic was old, washed up and not worth 30 million, right? Don't worry mate, good thing for all of us that you got that wrong.

Never said those words but didn't want him, nah. Which is why I've stated in this very thread, literally today, that I was wrong about him. Your level of smugness is so childish. Grow the feck up

It will happen as soon as his performance levels will drop. I still agree with you about the whole "I told you sos" and "let's laugh at those who were wrong" because 1) it's still wayyyyy too early to make any conclusions, as good as he's been and 2) it's so fecking childish.

Yeah but it's the caf.....no one gets away with anything! That's the fun of it. Anyway, for those writing him off before he was even signed...or at least being unimpressed, then they too wrote him off too early as well.

A lot of modern day internet football fans in here; being 'right' takes precedence over everything else. This is, despite the fact that people are openly admitting they were wrong about him, in this very thread. So sad

Of course they are. I only see kids or self centered people who focus on being right and proving everyone wrong. FFS this is an internet forum with a huge fanbase, trying to prove you're right all the time, that you hold the absolute truth is insane. Someone like that needs to get a life or something.
Mourinho makes mistakes and will make them, he is human after all, he gives chances to Lingard. Just because he's interested in a player, doesn't mean we cannot think he's making a mistake. Just like we all do make mistakes, admitting them is healthy.

Your post reads like you are the one who needs to grow up.

Like I said, approach criticisms and analysis with humility. When you are all bashful about how dumb it is for a world class manager to go for a player, then expect people to tell you that told you so.

Both as tedious as each other but hey. Kind of cringy too considering the amount of people saying "yeah I was wrong about him".

The reason it continues is because people like yourself were quick to ram your opinion down people's throats about how "shockingly overrated" he was. That's not just assessing the player yourself, it's assessing the supposed miscalculation in other people's assessments. If you were less quick to judge others, I suspect the reaction would be different.
Funnily enough he was once shockingly overrated as witnessed here.

It's all fun and games when you're telling people how they've got it wrong - and repeating that message over and over again, for longer than Matic has even been here - but when the shoe's on the other foot you're all up in arms. Complaining about it won't change things.

Must admit that I was underwhelmed when he signed for us. Still early days but watching him in the side has been a revelation, I didn't realise he was as comfortable on the ball as he's shown so far.

No ego either and already linking up well with Pogba. Promising stuff!

I've been on the caf for more 10 years so I've seen stupid posters of all kinds so I don't expect any form of sanity but there is always hope. The "i told you so" after 1 game in the season, is about as stupid as it gets. To make the analogy about Perisic is again stupidity on another, like Matic playin well now, never mind him having a great season overall, has any bearing on how Perisic would play for us :wenger:

If you actually said that then total respect to you. I admire people that approach football analysis with humility, which is my point and I am baffled you can't seem to comprehend that in my posts.

It's like the stampede scene from the Lion King on here today, feck knows what they'll do if we beat Swansea next week!

Goodness me, calm down, it's just a bloody football game. People are just relieved at the score today and game today and seeing United...for the first time in a long time.....be, well, more like the old united.

It might all go tits up....but enjoy the hour!

Not really. You're so pedantic it's untrue. If someone holds their hands up (plenty have done in here today) and state that they were wrong then that should be that. I don't get your point. You wrote a lot of words but a lot of utter bollox. People have opinions on transfers and some are right / some are wrong, that's life. State of some of your opinions down the years but I won't dig them out ;)

Not just me pal, plenty try reading the thread first before spouting off.

I have no problem with people enjoying it, it's the smug, childish digs at other posters that is off putting, surely it can be enjoyed without the smug nonsense.

10 years? Amazing. Your choice of words ('stupidity' etc) in describing my posts show so much childishness. Maybe you were like 10 years old, 10 years ago?

Anyway, it's a free forum as your 10 years would apparently have taught you. Have a field day. My point remains the same, criticize with some humility. If you don't, people will tell you they told you so.

Fair shout. Yeah if people are willing to ridicule others for disagreeing with them in the first instance then they should not be all butt hurt when it flys back in their face. Seems like they want their cake and eat it by being immune to any post they make with a get out of jail free card of "you smug fecking child". I think the answer is not to take them seriously most of the time. Those that admit they made a mistake are fine (we all do it even PL managers!) because football is all about opinions, it's just the sanctimonious ones that people rightly like to call out.

Great performance again.

The extra mobility he has over Carrick helps a lot.

I agree. Everyone is very, very wrong on a lot of things in life. I couldn't even guess which ones you're referring to but I can guarantee there's countless more. I'm quite sure in some cases you'll have made a point of pointing it out to me and others. We're biologically motivated to - it makes us feel good.

Criticising others for doing exactly what you'd have done in the reverse scenario is churlish, in my view. I think it's fair game. Especially when people express opinions as strongly and occasionally dismissively as you (and I) do.

He must be an absolute dream to play alongside. Definitely my favourite of the new signings so far without question.

He quoted me so stop talking shite. Have a gander back through the thread and you'll see I said I was wrong about him as many have. Get off your fecking high horse.

There is no "I told you so" to tell me at the moment. I've liked the Matic signing because I've always rated him before.

Wow. I knew he's a good solid signing but he's beginning to prove to be a monster of a signing!

He is definitely happy to be here and happy to be playing for Jose! You can tell he is a different looking player compared to the past couple of years. Jose knows his players!

why don't you read what I said before you get your tits in a twist:

"Those that admit they made a mistake are fine (we all do it even PL managers!) because football is all about opinions"s, it's just the sanctimonious ones that people rightly like to call out. I was not calling you out unless you think you are among the sanctimonious ones?

I don't care if he was quoting you. Not the point I was making as you said you were wrong.

Still don't agree. If people were coming in here today saying "he wasn't that good today", "I still don't rate him" etc, then yeah, I could understand some of the shite being spouted. But sorry, when many are admitting they were wrong, I find it incredibly churlish, childish and sanctimonious to come in here saying "oh look at me I was right, I understand football more than you".

As I said, transfers, as with anything in life will cause divisiveness and wildly differing opinions. Admitting you were wrong rather than continuing on a crusade to the contrary is usually the best / right thing to do, like so many have.

I'm a massive Lukaku fan and was very vocal about wanting to sign him. Shall I go over to his thread and call out everyone that slated his signing? No, what would be the point.

Not just me pal, plenty try reading the thread first before spouting off.

Like I said, I have no problems with people who approach these discussions with humility. Having different views makes the forum fun.

You have the right to say a player is not good enough and I have the right to say 'I told you so'. No need to let a conversation degenerate into something nasty because of that. Again, thumbs up to you for admitting you got it wrong in Matic.

You utter fecking snowflake

Says the fella cursing and name calling everyone in a thread because he looked silly. I'm just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy!

FWIW I think every mug on this forum has been wrong many more times than they've been right, most just don't get so upset about being called out on it.

Deal with it bruh.

Oh I read it. Thing is, I've only seen people admitting they were wrong. I've yet to see a single post from anyone's saying they still think we shouldn't have signed him. Maybe I've missed those posts but I ain't seen one.

Looked silly? Weird comment. I chose to come in here and praise him today and call people out over their smugness. Get a life pal ;)

Well obviously no one is going to do that now are they after his performances recently and today.

that's not the point anyway, stop lashing out I am not your problem here.

Admitting it like literally everyone else seems to be. Not sure what posts you're reading to the contrary. Are there any?

Hardly lashing out. I just haven't seen any. I've only seen praise. If people come in here after a bad game and say "oh lol cats I told you all he's crap innit" then that'll be equally as sad and pathetic.
