Agreed, and this one and the Desailly one are both based on "spottings" rather than anything else. Just because both are defenders and we need defenders doesn't make them real.

After all, wasn't Thuram days away from signing for us last month? Last year?... It was 'likely'.

After being linked with every defender under the sun, Ferdinand, Nesta, Cannavaro etc it was only time before we were linked with Gallas. Personally I can't see it happening. Gallas has not been at Stanford Bridge a year, and there money sitition they've got down there will be sorted when Milan complete the deal of Sam Dalla Bona, who is the most over rated player ever!

As for tommorow how about Ronny Jonhson being the inspirational player who is could sign on a free to a fellow premiership player.

Johnsen tomorrow signing for another PL club would not be made at OT, as he's already been released. He's not a United player anymore.

Defence is, and has been our problem area. A solid centre back, and possibly a player who can cover or rotate in the full back position(S).

Gallas is a decent CB IMO and will help improve you defence, but he's not the world class player many of you were expecting..and you'd still be without a really dominant defender that I reckon you really need..

I'd be quite happy if he was the only CB you signed this summer..

Will be a bargain at less than 10m tho
