NCAA College Football 2016/17

Watson needs to tighten up. He's gonna cost us if he keeps this up. 3 turnovers tonight were on him.

Our coaching staff also needs to stop with this 2nd half conservative mindset. We had our foot on their neck going into halftime and then we let up.

If those 2 things don't change, it's gonna cost us.

Jackson should have gotten penalized for his meltdown there. Hit Ben (#10) and took his helmet off on the field while berating the officials.

I could be biased though. I coached Ben.
You can't really blame him. Boulware tried to rip his head off as he was going down to the ground. You're a football coach in high school?
We've crapped the bed :(
Great game. Too bad there had to be a loser. Early enough in the season that you can recover and be in contention for a playoff spot.

Yes I am.

Well, I spoke too soon there, as I was pulling for Clemson. I posted that in the middle of us blowing our 3 score lead.

Georgia/Tennessee finish was the wackiest final thirty seconds I've witnessed live (for college football).

Tennessee CB slows up and gets burned. Georgia goes from a low win probability to practically 100% win probability. Commits a stupid unsportsmanlike penalty during the ensuing celebration. Tennessee gets great field position on the kickoff and a decent return. Then (I ain't a killer but don't push me) Hail Mary which rarely works. Two oranges shirts amidst a see of red and the guy pulls it down. Madness.

OU almost blew a massive lead against TCU.

Charlie Strong in the hot seat at Texas.

@Carolina Red who do you like to win Texas A&M or Tennessee?
That's a tough one to be sure.

A&M played down to their competition against South Carolina yesterday, and Tennessee is on a roll with snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

BUT... It's at Kyle Field, and I think Tennessee is playing too close to the fire. A&M will come out looking to prove their performance against SC was a fluke. I'm taking A&M.

Yep the slow start is going to catch them out, if not the Aggies then definitely Bama

I'm a Horns fan so A&M can feck off every week.
I'm with you there. Have always had a soft spot for the Longhorns (must be the orange and white).

I see Tennessee finishing the regular season with 2 or 3 losses. A&M (the wild card) and Bama, then Bama again in the SEC championship game.

Lifelong Canes fan. We are back in the top 10.....and I don't think we are stopping there.

I did a post-doc at UT and my wife's from Alabama. I've been telling her all year that TN has a shot against her Tide this season since the game is at Neyland. I hope I'm right, since I've been taking it on the chin from her for a lot of years now. As for the Vols - A&M game, I think that could go either way. Go Vols and all that!

Yep Go Vols, my wife is from TN and still is going on about hail marys

I watched the game vs Georgia but when GA scored with 10 seconds left I left the house all pissed off about the result to go and watch the Warriors preseason game at a local bar. I talked to my son about it on the way out and he'd turned the game off (him also being a Vols fan and just as bad a loser as I am). Anyway, I get in the car and the game is on Sirius and so I listen to it just so I can get closure on a thoroughly crappy day. Next minute the Vols score and I'm screaming down the phone to my son "we won, we won, we won" and all that. He, of course, doesn't believe me and basically tells me to do one (reminds me, I need to cut his allowance for that), but after finally being convinced he turns the TV back on and we are screaming at each other down the phone about our victory. After that Hail Mary - Touchdown Jesus be damned, God is a Volunteer.

Believe me, I'd love for the Vols to knock off Bama. They've been on their perch for too long.

Can't see Miami knocking off Clemson in the ACC title game. That's assuming they don't blow up against one of their divisional foes along the way.

Richt was massively overrated at Georgia. Perhaps he's found his level, i.e. not the SEC. UGA should have canned him years ago. Probably a better fit for Miami.

Tennessee needs to stop sucking ass in the first half because do that against some of these schools and they'll get smashed hard, like FSU vs Louisville hard.

Btw, Rocky Top is the most god awful college fight song created.

Yeah but he's got a lot more talent available at Miami, plus he's known as a damn good recruiter. When you combine those, he should have South Florida, one of the most talent rich areas in the nation , locked down. At Georgia, he was having to compete with Bama, Auburn, Clemson, FSU, UF, Tennessee etc for recruits. Not the case in So Fla.

He will still have to compete with those same schools. At an urban school that hasn't been at the top for awhile like Miami you need a coach that is a superstar or one that's a bit dirty, neither of which describes Richt.

Tennessee has only got two tough games left (next two weeks, A&M and Bama). After that it's pretty tame. I think outside of those next two they could give up 10 point leads and still win. On "Rocky Top" - you heathen.

Exactly. Clemson has 15 Florida players on the roster and a track record of getting recruits from Florida to the league.

Not so much. The out of state schools don't have much pull in So Fla unless its players who Miami don't want, at which point UF or FSU generally come into the picture. Its quite rare that the SEC schools come in and usurp the big three in FL. I get the impression Richt is going to lock So Fla down much like Jimmy Johnson did.

That's only because they happen to be good at the moment, which happens to coincide with a period where Miami and UF were struggling and/or in transition. Miami does have abnormally high academic standards, so the 2nd tier kids from Dade and Broward county schools who have the football talent but lack the best grades, often opt for places like UF or other SEC schools with ordinary academic standards.

Clemson has had a Florida pipeline for a lot longer than the last few years.

Really ? I've been following Miami football since the early 80s and hadn't noticed that.
Yes. The pipeline has been going since at least the early 90s

A colleague of mine was on the Clemson coaching staff in the early to mid 2000s.. By that point the pipeline was so established that every coach on the staff had a recruiting region in Florida assigned to them.

Richt doesn't have the personality of a Jimmy Johnson. And with it being a non-traditional power, they don't have the pull of a great power like Bama which has been ingrained into the culture over the past half century or so.

Similar to UCLA...they should have had more success based on their geography. Or A&M, having great recruits pulled out from under them by OU, LSU, and UT on a regular basis. Miami's pull is not enough to capitalize on their advantages without a great coach.
