NBA 2024-2025 ; Lakers Land Luka

Draft night was always the more likely time for the Wolves to make roster moves but I'm deflated.

So the Suns were shopping KD around and then chose not to trade him to the Warriors because KD said no.

No idea what they plan on doing but if they miss the playoffs I’d be surprised if there isn’t at least a conversation about them blowing it up.

Wasn't it that the Warriors didn't accept the deal because KD said he didn't want to play with them, rather than the Suns rejecting it? Can't blame the Warriors for not accepting the trade as well if the player is so against it.

Lebrons three point shooting has become incredible. Better % than curry last year and within one %this year. Monster. Just punked the warriors with three in a row, last one from the logo.

I cant believe im saying this as he is the greatest NBA (career wise) player I've seen in a Suns jersey, but i hope we trade KD in the off season. I think we have a very slim window left to build something around Booker before he wants out.

Im not even sure what trade could be out there, but I hope theres another stupid GM somewhere who gives us a haul.

I'd try to tempt the Knicks and get a package of Kat, hart and bridges for kd Beal with some picks and fringe players to make up for salary.

With Butler, the Warriors are now truly and actually into their two years, win-now, last-dance window. If lucky with the pairings in the West’s jungle, they can surely aim at a very deep run in May (and beyond) imho.

We'd snap their hand off for that deal. The Knicks wouldnt go for it. I would take Bridges, Hart and two first round picks for KD. And then flip those picks to get a good point guard.

I just wish we could get the Bridges and Johnson duo back together with Book.

I'm really not holding my breath on this. I think it was a bad trade and the Dubs will live to regret it. Butler is not worth 60 million now. There is no way he'll be worth 60 million plus 2 years from now.

I hope I'm proven wrong.

This stat is interesting when you consider that his shooting abilities were in question during the draft process. His career 3pt% is slightly above league average but this season he jumped to 42%.

Some Western unicorns gonna move to the East front or life is too good and feck the declining TV ratings?

It's supposed to not be soon but if the NBA adds an expansion team, it is supposed to be Vegas or Seattle and in that scenario it was said that the Wolves are possibly going to be moved to the East, especially since it would allow to have the same regional rivalries that exist in other major sports.

I think people are sleeping big time on Lakers as possible contenders this year. Luka took Mavs to the finals last year and LeBron is LeBron. Their supporting core is not too shabby either, a lot of players that seem to fit what you want around those two.

Wouldn't Memphis / New Orleans be the first to move East?

Knicks don't even have two first round picks to trade, besides they have great chemistry and a roster that just fits very well together. Hart and Bridges are part of the Vilanova crew with Brunson. They will never make that move. Leon Rose has done very well managing their roster and making the right moves, he’s not going to suddenly become an idiot.

Suns best hope is probably Rockets wanting to go for it.

It's the other options. But iirc one of the arguments for the Wolves was that it is the team that travels the most every year.

With the addition of Williams we have a good shot to go deep in the playoffs. Still wouldn't back us against OKC in a 7-game series though, especially not if Chet is fully healthy again by then.

Thunder still have a lot to prove in the playoffs. They disposed of New Orleans pretty easily last year but Pels are awful as proven by this season, they struggled against Mavs and I rate this Lakers team as having more potential than the Mavs.

Rate Thunder a bit higher as well, but the Lakers are definitely right behind and in the same boat as the Nuggets for example. Not sure about sleeping on them, they are falling out of screen in usual podcasts and shows that are around. But yeah, they are a legit contender.

Agreed. Thunder as slight favorites, then Nuggets and Lakers. I don’t really have Grizzlies, Rockets or anyone else as real contenders.

Houston is such a weird one. Really didn't expect them to have the kind of season they're having.

Udoka for COTY? Probably him or Atkinson for me.

Things are going to be weird for the Wolves, the injuries created opportunities for Jaylen Clark which he took with both hands, he is primarily a defender but in a small sample he is averaging 14.9 points per 36. In the mean time Reid finally plays with the starters and easily outperform Randle who was himself doing better lately. I don't know if DDV and Randle will comeback from injuries with the same roles.

We're waiting for them to implode so we can swoop in and take Booker. We want nothing to do with KD. He doesn't fit our timeline and we'd be giving up a lot of assets for just 1-2 years of elite KD. Booker is the guy we want, and I think in the off season, if the Suns miss the playoffs, Phoenix and Houston will have interesting conversations.

If this guy starts getting same the whistle other stars like SGA get, it's game over for the league.

You don't even support the Wolves and you know how bad his whistle is.

Compared to other stars, he gets a really bad whistle. In reality, I think he gets the whistle he deserves most of the time. It's the other star players who get calls for just breathing near them that ruins a lot of games, sometimes it's they (Giannis) who commit the offensive foul but it's called a blocking foul. It's make the games borderline unwatchable when the defences are just sitting ducks and anything they do to defend the space is called a foul.

Maybe I'm biased but I think that he gets a similar whistle to a younger Lebron, because he demonstrates more athleticism refs let defenders make obvious fouls. It applied to Zion too early on but I don't know if it's still true.

That's probably true. I don't follow Twolves enough to watched Ant closely but generally, it doesn't feel like he gets to the line as often as other star players. I don't know if that's because he settles for jumpers more, I know SGA absolutely loves driving to the basket. That's his bread and butter.

We play Ant physical every time, and we clobber him almost every single time. Last night was probably the first time I've seen refs just keep giving him the fouls he deserves against us. The 'he's too athletic' theory might not be crazy. I've seen Rockets fans make the same complaint about Jalen Green not getting whistles because of his athleticism and he gets clobbered every time he drives too.

Don’t refs have their review sessions one or two times per month behind closed doors? The “tricks” and the physical load on the most relevant players are so open to scrutiny nowadays I can not think for a moment they are just oblivious and not aware… they can even re-watch at will the action in slow motion during the games!

Atlanta are in a peculiar position because quite clearly Trae is going to ask out sooner rather than later, they haven’t been able to surround him with much talent and at best will be on the fringes of the playoffs… but they can’t really properly embrace a rebuild as they don’t control any of their next three draft picks.

Toronto, I’m not even sure what they are trying to do. If you asked me to name three teams that needed Ingram the least they’d have made that list without any doubt. Looks like they will have all their cap tied down to Quickley, Barnes, Barrett and Ingram…. Eww.

Atlanta and the Pelicans to be are the two teams that have a lot of good pieces but they just are going nowhere. Both have very flawed franchise stars* (I dont even want to call Zion a star).

New Orleans have an easier path to success. They should strip back everything except Murphy, Jones, Missi and Hawkins. Those are fantastic role players and all relatively young. Add a franchise player to that squad and they could be a hard team to face.

Atlanta on the other hand just have a puzzle that will never fit. Johnson is a future All-Star, but the team should be built around him. Daniels is a nice player with good upside, but I would be open to trading away everything else. Maybe they could trade Trae? But I dont see a good fit for him anywhere.

I wouldn't trade Booker unless he demands a trade. That guy just means so much to the City, he is beloved.

I hear you. He just also happens to be the Rockets’ number one target. We need to take a swing at a star player eventually and I think swapping out the Nets picks with the Suns picks was done with the intention of aggressively pursuing Booker when the time was right. Unless you get a decent haul for KD that allows you to smartly retool around Book, there doesn’t appear to be that many avenues to improve the team, hence why the Rockets are circling like vultures ready to pounce.

What do you guys think about the Wolves wanting Durant?

AD with a really strong debut for the Mavs. Also checked out with a non contact injury in the 3rd quarter. Pretty much, a full AD experience in his 1st game
