NBA 2022-2023

Woo-ho, player power!

Who wants to give a max contract to the next ego maniac who wants to run practice himself?

I think it might be time to start worrying.

I know it's early but the defense is shameful and the 2nd unit is really bad.

The Magic scored 60 points in the last 18 minutes of the game.

Really hope Jokic knows whats he is doing with this forced path he took to bring MPJ and Jamal into groove, to pay off in a long run, otherwise its a huge waste of time.

Why is Poole struggling so much? I saw a stat that said something like he had the 2nd worst +/- in the league (behind Jalen Green).

Seems he is just struggling a bit. It's a new team for him this year bar Gordon.

Maybe because he got punched in the face by own veteran teammate.

He is struggling because he is letting to be like that, its should be his ball as playstyle and move forward, instead MPJ and specially Jamal trying to revert how it was before 2xMVPs, like he was in coma and not injured.

Its true thats new team but it should show like tonight in KCP and BB, they missed their spots few times, so he got extra TOs. On top, from pre season,he took a line where he choosing to be semi passive, forcing to bring up and speed those two. Like i said, for their sake, hope early suffering will pay off at the end of season.

Part of the problem is that he is playing with the 2nd unit: Kuminga, Wiseman, JaMychal Green and Moses Moody. The whole 2nd unit is struggling so that is reflecting badly on his +/-.

.....and getting punched in the face, I don't think helped.

It's interesting for the Warriors. They're trying to find the right balance between developing the young guys while also competing. Would you be open to some kind of trade where you give-up some of the younger assets (maybe Wiseman and/or Moody/Kuminga) for a solid bench/rotation veteran that can stabilise the bench and play with the starters in the playoffs if required? I have no idea if that is a possibility or if a player like that exists. It's just a thought exercise to gauge the fan base on how they feel about the compete/win now vs. look toward the future.

The question about trading the young guys (Kuminga, Moody, Wiseman) has been on the table for a while now and my answer is the same as it was when it was originally raised. That answer being "no."

However, the rationale behind my answer has definitely changed. A year ago, I didn't want a trade because I had high hopes for all three of them. I still have the same high hopes but now because of their recent performances they would probably be making said trade with the value of the players at an all time low. So, bottom line, even if the Dubs are thinking about it, now is not the time.

If the Warriors are 10-20 after game 30, that trade materializes pretty quickly, can't afford to waste a season of Steph playing hard. Otherwise if you are going that route, let Steph rest and tank for Wemby/Scoot.

Poole is also struggling with carries being called on him - he had 4 of those in this game.

Warriors are just 3-6, it’s not like time is running out for them to fix things with the current group that just won the championship and is a favorite to win it back. They have started slow but this often happens to quality teams that just won something important, in all sports.

Catching up on Celtics - Cavs from yesterday. I love this Cavs team. Think they reach the ECF very soon.

Yeah, I think they’ll be about 4th overall come the end of the season. Nothing to really worry about.

I still think it's time to start worrying. Not panicking, just worrying. Both Kuminga and Wiseman have looked massively out of their depth. Not really worried about Poole and Moody as I think the former will get his act together sooner or later and the latter is progressing ok.

As you said, plenty of time to turn it around but neither of these 2 are rookies and although they haven't played many games they've both been in the Dubs system for a while and they just don't seem to get it.

Wait and see, I suppose.

Decent efforts by Kuminga, Moody, Lamb and Jerome off the bench. If Poole could have hit the broad side of a barn (5-18), they might possibly have pulled this one out.

Luka is on fire to start the season. He's the best offensive player in the league, on the same level as peak Harden.

Big win for Blazers in Phoenix, without both Lillard and Simons, the team still played hard and ground out a win. Suns are now 6-2 with the only two losses coming to Portland. We are playing them again tonight which I am pretty much writing off as a loss but 1-1 over there without our two main playmakers is still way better than what I expected.

Also missed out on $1k last night because PJ Washington could not cover over 13.5 points only to realize he got 10 while being 2-15 from the floor, goodness.

Jazz up to 7-3 and I am legit thinking there is no way they can tank properly without trading 4-5 more players. They are basically full of good players so the lack of a true superstar (even with Markkanen clearly being on the path to becoming one) does not hold them back.

People here almost ridiculed me when I said that Luka in peak physical shape can be dropping 40 a game. He is averaging around 33-34 now while being at least 10 kg overweight haha.

Only partying till 5 am and Poland can stop this guy.

No, you said he would still drop 40ppg even when he’s having an off night if he loses 10kg.

People were ridiculing you for your complete lack of respect and knowledge of NBA basketball.

I have enjoyed watching the Jazz so much this season. Three guards who can all create shots & make them,Markannen playing really great and a C in olynk who can shoot 3’s. They also have great crowd support at home. I wonder if they might drop the idea of a tank

Really like the Blazers. Afernee is looking real special and Dame is still one of the best players around when he’s healthy.

I would wager he does not finish over 30, or if he does he will play fewer than 75 games. This is not a criticism of him or “ridiculing” you, it’s just an acknowledgment how fecking hard averaging even 30 is.

Personally I hope I’m wrong and he does it as I enjoy watching him play. Boycotting my Lakers has freed me up to watch whatever game I want, so that has been a plus.

Is there a college degree for NBA analytics I need to be commenting on my boy Luka? Well maybe I slightly exaggerated boys ceiling, but only slightly.

Plenty of people *could* drop 40 a game, if winning didn't matter. Most of these guys will hold their High School scoring record.

40 on an off night, Jordan might do that with today's rules. Jordan, with an extra step, no hand checks, quick whistles, it boggles the mind.

Yeah, Lakers sorta lost soul. They got that one in the bubble but other than that Davis and Lebron partnership has been a disaster.

But yeah, you are not fun haha, I'm a idealist while you are realist. I know one or two games that he has to leave because of ejection or injury while having less than 15 points in a game would drop average significantly. We shall see what happens but so far he is scoring like he is playing against children, not physical specimen that each NBA player is.

Never exxagerate with an Englishman! They're painfully literal.

Though I hear the Irish are more poetic with their descriptions.

As I said I don't want to turn this into Luka is better than greats from the past. I do know that scoring now is much easier than when NBA was a physical game where few of your internal organs would get displaced if a big guy felt disrespected.

It’s nothing against you, but you need to be realistic especially with how Luka is actually playing.

Doncic’s biggest advantage right now is him driving in and getting easy points against smaller defenders.

Him dropping 10kg is just going to make him much easier to defend because he can no longer bully smaller defenders who can keep up with him.

His average shot distance this season so far is at 13.1 feet compared to his career average of 14.9 feet and that’s the real reason for the increase in his shooting percentage and ppg.

As the season progress, he’ll start taking more jumpers to save his energy and his ppg will take a hit once that happens.

Can you imagine if the Lakers traded for Kyrie. Dumpster fire would be putting it mildly. Silver linings eh laker fans.

I miss the physicality I must admit. As much as I hated the Knicks, had big respect for Charles Oakley. Or Horace Grant, who wouldn’t thrive In todays nba.

Never thought about this before, but it is (in my case anyway) painfully true.

I think that is referred to as "blarney." ;)
Learned that here. Along with the difference in descriptions; a footballer I would call great is “okay” and the best players aren’t amazing, they’re “good”.

Very stingy with the superlatives. Meantime in the US these hog dogs are awesome!

Quite hilarious when Russ gets all the hate for shooting badly when LeBron doesn’t get much for shooting even worse so far this season

Yeah, LeBron has been awful this season. Looks like father time has got him, finally.

I reckon he might finish around 30-31 as he’s been close to that in the past, everything is going through him and he gets a lot of shots.
