NBA 2021-2022

Steph has been defended like that once this season. He had 3 points, 4 turnovers and hobbled off injured after 14 mins. And as intensity is 1/3 of the playoffs in regular season, we can only assume Steph would get 1 point, 12 turnovers in 5 mins.
Since you seem to only want to consider Celtics games from this season. There have been 2. As you point out he went off injured in the second but scored 30 in the first. Per 36 minutes he averaged 24.3, right around his career average.

Simmons is getting to destroyed on all platforms, it's to a point where I have a bit of sympathy for him.:wenger:

So impressed with Tatum's development this season. Smooth passer and a lockdown defender on top of his scoring ability? Yikes. He's kinda unplayable.

His playmaking is what has gone up several levels this season. Those passes to the corner to Grant at the end of the first half weren't happening last year.

It's his defense I have been the most impressed with in recent months. Seems like something just clicked around the turn of the year. He's been incredible on defense.

He was always this good but the Celtics' roster construction was hugely flawed - their insistence in playing Smart in a 2 guard role in order to accommodate a score-first point guard made it easy to hunt switches against Boston.

Getting rid of the net negative defenders in Schroeder and Richardson in favor of switchable pieces like Theis and White was a colossal upgrade.

Brooms out for the Celtics. Nets just not a good enough team and that's no surprise. Two highly talented players, but also fragile personalities.

Fair enough. He always struck me as complimentary player on defense, but not really his thing. It's good to know he always he had it in him. His game is so impressively well rounded now. Great to see.

Yeah and to be fair he started out that way - first couple years he relied on his athleticism but as he's matured his understanding of where to be and how to use his physical tools has come on by leaps and bounds. Tough to shine in a modern defense when you're trying to put out fires generated by Kyrie and Kemba mismatches though!

Personally think his improved passing is what has taken the Celtics to the next level - in large part because they have realized they don't need to sacrifice their defense to generate quality playmaking on offense. Smart's absurd improvement on that end as well over the past few months is the other key factor - he's now consistently a net positive on that end, which marks a big change from his first few years in the league.

Raptors pull another one back. Pathetic showing tonight by the Sixers

My beloved Sixers are going to bottle it - no Simmons to throw under the bus this time though

Injuries are the great equalizer, especially for a sport that demands superstars to carry their team throughout the playoffs and get them in positions to win.

Embiid is a shell of himself since his injury and can't take over like in games 2 and 3. And Games 3, 4, and 5 have been games where Raptors either won or close loss. Clearly they are in it and have made good adjustments.

Greatest duo ever in basketball or something

Their offense wasn't going to be pretty with two ball dominant players. Combine that with no wing defenders, no Joe Harris, and a green coach in Steve Nash...shouldn't surprise people that Nets crashed out so hard.

Raptors forcing game 6 at home is big. Philly will be shutting themselves if it goes to game 7.

feck outta here.

If he got bullied all summer it wouldn't be enough.

Hope he's bullied out the game or bullied into getting some backbone and addressing the flaws in his game

I agree he looks like a very complete player now, wonder if playing with Smart might have helped him.
But he is just amazing.

I know the Sixers didn't wanna pay Simmons for sitting out this entire season but what about Brooklyn ?
What was his outfit for Game 4 btw ?

No one knows - he didn't even sit on the bench!

It does at least seem like his back injury is legitimate? Can't really deny him his salary on that basis.

What would make his back injury more legitimate ? No one knows for sure, pure speculation but to me it seems like he deemed it not worth it to play when his team lost game 3 and the sweep was a reality.

The next generation of superstars are really starting show their true colors, and I love it. So different types as well. Tatum, Luka, Trae, Ja, Ayton. Hopefully Zion will somehow get healthy/lose enough weight and do some crazy things.

Oh sorry I didn't mean for game 4 specifically - I am inclined to agree that this is a bogus excuse.

I just meant on a more macro level since he went to the Nets - the herniated disc seems to have been a real thing; he did have an epidural after all. Think that's in contrast to his time with the Sixers and on that basis Brooklyn probably can't argue they shouldn't pay him.

If anyone can bottle a 3:0 lead it's Doc Rivers. He's gotta be the most overrated head coach of all time. He even made it into the NBA's "Top 15 of all time" list and nobody knows why.

We'll know soon enough by the fact if he gets a surgery or not. If he does then it would be a guarantee of a real injury and if not, it would be open to interpretation.

Cause he managed to achieve a single title with prime Garnett, Allen and Pierce!

Maybe, Durant will realise now, what a mistake it was to leave GS! He thought he can become an NBA champion again - by bringing a few pieces together, just like that.

Take that for data!
All time classic line!

Best U25 player in the world. Yep. Scary

There's still Doc for that. And Joel's injury :(

Mavs need to put the jazz in the trash next game already.

Shaping up nicely for next round. Celtics va Bucks should be apocalyptic, and the west series should be pretty good too. Memphis have no quit in them, Mavs have Brunson playing unconsciouss right now and that gives them more than an outside chance, esp if the Suns are withoug Booker or against the Pels(full strenght suns would be another story) and Heat vs winner or Raptors/Sixers has a lot of potential for chaos. Heat vs Raptors would be like watching two heavyweights try to fight underwater

His mistake was leaving OKC, and leaving OKC for Golden State in particular. He jumped on that bus to ride Steph's coattails to two free rings and still didn't find the sense of fulfillment he desperately wants. Now he's hitched his wagon to one of the most overrated and dysfunctional players in the game. He'll end his career as one of the best individual players ever and no real basketball 'home.' I guess he'll be welcomed back in Golden State but he'll never be loved the same way Steph, Draymond, and Klay are.
