NBA 2021-2022

It’s the claim that KD is unguardable is the one falling apart quickly with this series.

This was always used to justify why Steph would be double teamed in the playoffs when KD wasn’t.

TBF, Steph is the superior passer compared to KD, thus the need to double. With that team, it was pick your poison. Slow down SC or make him pass first, then he'll go to Klay or KD. That was unfair.

But Boston have top on ball defenders starting with Smart and Tatum. Once the ball is in his hands, KD has a tough time passing it to nobody else aside from Kyrie.

Boston, Miami, and Milwaukee are three of the best defenses in the league. All in the East. Tough sledding for anyone coming against them.

also superior handles and longer range.

Was just coming on here to find out why the Nets have gone 3-0 to the Celtics. Impressive stuff and great video analysis, thanks for sharing.

Glad you enjoyed it! I can take no credit; as I said it's an excellent Youtube channel that for me is almost appointment viewing.

It's interestingly almost the polar opposite of what the Bucks did last year vs the KD and the Nets - the Bucks almost never committed a second defender to KD and essentially dared him to beat them on his own (and if his feet were 4 cm smaller he would have done). The Celtics instead have decided to take him out almost entirely at the cost of free looks for the Nets' role players - they've generally done well but when an offense is built around isolation scoring, limiting the best isolation scorer has an outsized impact.

Assuming that they are hopefully swept, where the Nets go from there? Do they trade their stars and rebuild the normal way or do they persist and we all have a laugh for a few years?

Depends on how they assess Simmons this summer I think. What they are missing more than anything right now is playmaking on offense - they get bogged down into iso sets far too frequently which are easy enough to read and as the Celtics have proved can be nullified by modern switching defenses. They miss Harden's scoring far less than they do his passing ability - despite Harden losing a lot of his ability to blow past defenders he was still the best passer on the Nets by a mile.

They badly need a pure point guard - Simmons at his peak could absolutely be that guy, but if they decide he isn't then they might consider moving him and the picks they got from the Sixers for a capable veteran.

The other looming question is whether or not they give Kyrie a max extension - for me that has the potential to be a dumpster fire given his injury history and bizarre behaviour. For me it's pretty clear they chose wrong - if they'd traded Kyrie instead of Harden I think they'd be far better. But for whatever reason KD sided with Kyrie.

If the Grizz/Wolves series goes 5 and the Grizzlies win,, then game 1 of the Grizz/Dubs series would probably be April 29th. (Same day as game 6 is scheduled if Grizz/Wolves goes 6). This would mean that game 2 would be either May 1st/2nd and game 3 would be May 3rd/4th/5th. If Grizz/Wolves goes 6, you're probably out of luck. Game 1 would probably be May 1st/2nd and game 2 May 3rd/4th/5th. It's not impossible you could still make it if the first 3 games only have 2 days between each one, but more than likely there'll be at least 1 of them with a three day interval and that would put you at May 6th at the earliest.
Thinking about it, is my best actually for Grizzlies v Wolves to go 7 and for Wolves to win? Warriors then have homecourt so Game 2 could be around that date.

If the Wolves win you're almost certain to be in town for either game 1 or game 2 of a Dubs/Wolves series. Game 1 (if Wolves win in 7), game 2 if Wolves win in 6. I suppose you could get really unlucky and game 1 is on the 3rd and game 2 on the 6th, but the odds are definitely in your favor.

If GSW lets this shit goes to 5 games, they taking a piss for real, end this misery, i mean look at Denver starting 4 outside Jokic, haha.

The refs are definitely bent against Denver, in particular Boogie Cousins, a couple of just ridiculous calls against Boogie.

Absolute joke that Draymond wasn't given a technical for that as well, given that Boogie was given one. Oh wait, that would've meant Draymond would've been ejected, can't have that.

My lads been playing basketball at school and he’s duly convinced me to buy a ball. We’ve been down playing at the local park a few weeks and it’s decent fun. Now I’ve started watching it on sky and it’s a decent watch as well. I don’t think my missus can cope with another sport, she’s going to end up in an asylum :lol:

You can’t be serious after that half. Draymond got called for the foul and the technical was called because of Boogie instigating an argument. It was soft but that’s because Boogie has a bad image but there was absolutely no reason to give Draymond a technical there . Denver just took 23 free throws in the half, not sure how many you would want really

Pretty awful performance by the Dubs. All over the place on defence and just so many needless fouls

Nuggets disintegrating under pressure in the fourth. Wild shots, bad defense and showing offensive rebounds, Warriors scoring with these almost every possession.

Jokic really needs to take control in offense, he's barely taking any initiative.

Yep, he just caring entire team on his shoulder for the entire season. What more initiative would one want? It be nice if Jokic can turn into Jordan or Shaq in their prime but there is a reality how much white guy with average athleticism can do.

Poor game from the Dubs, but they still nearly pulled it out. Back to Chase it seems.

What I did think was interesting was that not a single Nuggets starter had a positive +/- for the game.

Or a single Dubs player off the bench for that matter.

Wow what an end, Nuggets pulled it off. Jokic looked absolutely gassed at the end

Big shots from Jokic (and assist), Morris and finally Barton in the end. Also, Jokic called the Warrior's alley-opp play from the timeout, you could see him telling Austin that they're going to lob it.

Shoutout to Bones as well, those couple of minutes where he hit 3 threes was brilliant! Nuggets gain some respectability from this series.

This would be decent series if JM and MPJ are healthy, now we have to watch 5th game thanks to GSW. Jeff Green the starter, tonight like he didnt even play.

Stopped following the NBA decades ago, but have heard about the Simmons saga recently. Is Simmons as big a pussy as it appears or is he legit injured to where he couldn’t put some minutes in?

Kerr really does my head in sometimes, what a terrible loss to keep the series on. This game is classic example of why I don’t see the Warriors winning the title, they have far too many days where they can’t do basic things right & just foul like crazy

What seemed crazy to me where the amount of free throws the Warriors missed, only 71% from 32 free throws. It was also the imminent night of Jordan Poole returning back to earth after those insane 3 games.

Picture of the Playoffs

I just don't get how one team could get 27 more free throws in a game
Free throw disparity is nothing new, we've been facing this issue for years already.

We managed to overcome it in the regular season because the team played well, and that's the bigger reason why we're dropping games right now. We're just not playing well at all this series apart from Ayton and CP3.

Poole kept forcing it, he needed to let his game flow naturally. The hype went to his head

I think the ring is going to the east again this season
If the Heat take care of Philly then I can't see the Bucks or Celtics stopping them. This Heat team just feels like once they turn that defensive switch on, no one can score on them and they have so many 3 point specialists to finish you off.

I think (to some extent) that's @SinNombre point. Steph gets guarded like that all the time.
Steph has been defended like that once this season. He had 3 points, 4 turnovers and hobbled off injured after 14 mins. And as intensity is 1/3 of the playoffs in regular season, we can only assume Steph would get 1 point, 12 turnovers in 5 mins.

Wow great analysis
