NBA 2021-2022

Chris Haynes has basically echoed what I feared. Portland want to keep Lillard and use picks in the Summer to get veteran help for him. They wanted to use picks to get Ben Simmons but that is already out of question (and was unrealistic from the beginning I may add). They have strong interest in Jerami Grant and will approach Pistons with a significant offer. They don’t care about cap space, they just want assets to be able to trade for vets.

So basically we want to keep being mediocre but also want to keep pretending that it is possible to win the ring for Lillard at any cost. So our tanking job this year is really just down to how high the pick we give to Pistons is going to be.

Nothing specific to you but this is why I decided not to follow a specific NBA or NFL team.

I am sorry man. In addition to how United are fecking up things I can't take teams like Lakers, Knicks or Portland screwing up constantly.

To be fair I am more of NBA fan than a Blazers fan, they are just my ‘adopted’ franchise as I need someone to support and follow. But I still get a lot of joy from watching other teams play and following the league. There are many teams I root for when I watch them like Bucks, current Cavs and Hornets, even the shitty ones like Thunder I do enjoy watching from time to time to see their young players.

I was actually looking forward to see Portland become similar to current Cavs/Hornets in having a couple of super exciting young players and building for future. Seems this won’t be the same as next years team will likely be like Lillard, Hart, Grant, Nurkic and a few average veterans like Portis, Cory Joseph, TJ Warren or Gary Harris (just random names of players who are good but will ultimately lead us to 40-45 wins next to Lillard and Grant). Meanwhile Pistons will get someone like Banchero/Holmgren/Ivey with our pick (which will probably land around 5 or 6), someone similar with theirs and will be a thousand times more exciting. The other pick from Pelicans, if it materializes, we will probably give away for someone average too.

Breaking News:

Sarni
files for divorce. The diehard Blazers fan claimed that he was never a fan anyway.

My word the Knicks were poor in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Blew an 20pt lead to a very average Portland team.

LeBron becomes the top scorer in NBA history and they barely mention it? I mean, it's no 3-point record but still...

Jokic with a game saving and ending rejection against Raptors. Great awareness, rotation, and meeting opponent at the apex of their attempt from point blank. MVP play by the reigning MVP.

NBA top scorer for combined points in regular season + playoffs. He's 3rd all time for regular season. Not sure if Steph's record was for regular season only, but if it was for combined then that's a huge double standard.

Steph has both.

Losing to the Knicks was bad enough but the Dubs nearly lost to the Lakers. Who loses to the Lakers for heavens sake. ;)

Whats going on? Not having Draymond?
Not sure to be honest. The team is certainly not playing like it was at the beginning of the season. Draymond being out is definitely a factor but by no means the only one. Steph is still not shooting up to par. Until he does (if he does) the Dubs are not winning anything this year.

Team looks gassed, at least the guys with a lot of minutes like Steph and Wiggins. Need Draymond to return or Wiseman to become serviceable. I think the ASB can't come soon enough for the Warriors.

Feel that the Suns are overplaying Chris Paul too.

They do look a bit knackered for sure. If I was Steph I'd be tempted to pull out of the ASG.

He has become remarkably durable since he left Houston. I'd be tempted to rest him a little bit after the All-Star break though. They have a little bit of a lead as the #1 seed and could probably get away with sitting him against Detroit, Orlando, Houston, OKC etc

LBJ has scored 22 games 25+ consecutive points at 37, breaks his old records at 21 games.
Such an amazing talent, although I’m Jordan’s fanboy.

The sun's just continue to look so damn impressive. Chris Paul is so good.

Meanwhile my Nets team is falling apart. Injuries haven't been kind at all mind you. Need KD back soon or we can forget it. Some nice shots by Kyrie Vs Heat but almost seemed he was trying to play them on his own at times. Nash needs to go I feel soon.

He credit it to his vegan diet.
He played too many minutes since Cam Payne went down, and Elfrid Payton was backing up his minutes. Elf was decent defensively but couldn't shoot to save his life.
Tonight with Elf and Holliday being decent, Paul only logs 26 minutes, the least he played since I think the last 14 games.
Hopefully he can get a few of these games before the All Star break

Steph has both.

it was more entertaining than I wanted it to be for sure, but it was exciting stuff. So happy Klay is back.
LeBron missing that free throw was the ultimate ball don’t lie moment. GP2’s face when he missed it was brilliant

Can I just point out that in those 22 games the Lakers are 9-13 and a collective -65 when he is on the floor. Last night for instance he was 1-10 in the 4th quarter and was -11 for the game. I've given Russ a hard time over the years for padding his stats but James is a close second when it comes to piling up his numbers.

He's jacking up about 22 attempted per game and at least another 6 FTs. That's a minimum point total potential of 50 points. All that to say, he isn't that efficient on the offensive end and to your point, he has a negative net impact. Someone has to score and that's him, but so what.

I don't get your point. All I am saying is that scoring 25+ points in 22 consecutive games is a meaningless stat especially if you're not winning.

Nets have finally gone to 4th in the bookies favourites for the title. They haven’t won a game in 23 days !!

Scoring at a high clip at his age is great, but yes I agree with your point of the team not winning.

To that, he's scoring 25+ points because he's taking so many shot attempts and should be scoring 25+ due to his high volume.

He’s agreeing with you, broadly, as he’s saying LeBron’s scoring isn’t really helping the Lakers (as seen by the stats you provided) as he’s getting there inefficiently (as seen by his stats).

Hey, I'm slow. Next time if somebody agrees with me please just type.... " Yeah, I agree."

Thanking you in advance. ;)

James has a league average TS% and his assts-rbd stats are pretty good. In all honesty, I like to hate on the Lakers and sometimes James but his stats are impressive.

That picture is strangely nice. I don't remember seeing something similar.

It's quite disgusting to watch Luka play lights out and knowing the Mavs are gonna waste his career.

He is still super young. He will be 27 when his contract with the Mavs expires. Steph won his first ring at 27, KD at 28.

Being 9-13 isn’t really surprising when you consider who he is sharing floor with in those games. AD is the only player on their roster who would get any minutes at a team above .500.

Mavs are gonna need to draft a Klay and Green in this scenario.

I meant he could do a KD and leave the Mavs and win his rings elsewhere while still in his prime. He is just that young to take a chance with the Mavs for now.

They are terrible at drafting. The only two good players they drafted in the last decade were Doncic (amazing) and Brunson (well above average for where he was drafted, probably goes around top 10 in a revised draft). Admittedly they did trade like half of their picks during that time, and got some decent undrafted players on the cheap like Finney-Smith.

I don't think the players as individuals are as bad as you make out, it is collectively they have a problem. The pieces just don't fit. Be that as it may, my main point was the fact that James scoring 25+ in 22 games is fairly meaningless when you don't win. It's like all those triple doubles that Russ used to get. They look great on paper, in practice if they don't lead to wins, who cares!
