NBA 2018-2019

Nobody's going to give up assets for a few months rental of role players.
Okay fair enough.

It feels like Lakers are keeping a bunch of guys on 1 year deals so they have cap space next year too. For Kawhi I guess.

Think I will be able to get behind Lakers in a series against Warriors after consideration.

Lonzo, Ingram, James, Kuzma and Randle isn’t that bad of a starting line up and quite likeable (Lonzo not his father). Hart, KCP etc. off the bench is what LeBron needs. They should get Napier.

From what I read, there is no way to get Kawhi without crippling their team. They are already in red zone, salary wise.

No, I never said you did, nor do I know who you are get the sand out of your vagina.
"Everyone just stop" right after I post about Kawhi and the Lakers? Maybe I was wrong to assume, but you can see why I might have.

And you chuck a personal dig in there, not knowing who I am, and I'm the one with sand in my vagina? Throw in a little insult to women as well.

I don't know you but you sound charming.

Who are you then? :)

They could easily get him. It will cost them a couple of future assets (young players / picks), nothing too dramatic. And they've got the money.

The difficulty is in agreeing with Spurs about what Kawhi is worth. And there's lots of factors here that tip the scales one way or the other. The temptation to get him "for free" next year is there as well, no doubt. PG might serve as a cautionary tale though.

Tyreke Evans has been receiving attention from Lakers and Thunder. I like his fit at both teams but I think Lakers don’t really have an easy way to sign him because they have already used exception to acquire Lance Stephenson. Thunder can offer him $5.3million a year and he might take that to play on a potential contender for a year. We will probably know either way over next 2-3 days.

Cavs are open to trading Kevin Love. As I already stated I think he is Suns bound.

If I was Kawhi I'd be really tempted to sign with the Clippers. He's said he wants to come to L.A. but there are two teams in the city. People (it seems) assume he means the Lakers when he makes this pronouncement but if he goes to the Lakers he will surely be seen as "Robin" to Lebron's "Batman." If you are a top 3-5 player in the League, do you really want that? Imagine if he joins the Clips and they can build a team too. If he comes out on top in a head to head with LeBron his basketball legacy is set for life.

I'm not sure if he wants to be Batman, to be honest. Not everyone does or can be.

He can win another ring with Lakers, he won't with Clippers.

Also, it seems that his preference is Lakers, but yeah, he isn't against going to Clippers.

It will always be currys team. Plus what are Klay Thompson and Draymond green? Huuuuuuuge bitches
No of course, I agree.

That it's Curry's team and that Draymond is a bitch.

KD gets a full pardon from me for life if he does this :D

He probably will. The Knicks could've gotten some great deals this summer, being one of the only teams with cap space. Instead, they're signing the likes of Hezonja for a year just to have max flexibility next summer. They'll go after a big free agent.

Noel has signed with Thunder. Not clear if it’s MLE or vet minimum but still hell of a deal for them.

Kevin Durant will no doubt leave warriors like someone said above it will always be Currys team KD is just collecting the chips before moving on and having "his" team. As for Lebron I think lakers were the absolute right choice they will get Kawhi if not this summer then next but not getting PG13 was a bad move. If they can get Boogie that would be fantastic for them. As for my Knicks I think we should of taken a chance with Porter jr but only time will tell. Also despite our market appeal considering how much of a joke of an organization we have been for years its very hard to attract top free agents.

It was debatable whether Durant was going to be the number one guy or the number two guy when he went to the Dubs. With LeBron and Kawhi, LeBron is obviously the number one.
It wasn't debatable after the first year though. Didn't stop him resigning.

Durant and Kyrie will team up on the Knicks eventually, I'm calling it now.

Why do people think that Durant is going to Knicks? He has been telling everyone that he is staying with Dubs. And they are going to continue winning, with KD getting finals MVP.

He ain't leaving soon enough.

I actually deleted the original post that you responded to so that we could avoid starting up the debate again.

As @Eboue points out, it was, is and always will be Curry's team.

Kerr said that Durant is their best player, pretty much every pundit rates Durant higher than Curry, and Durant got two final MVPs.

It is Curry's team in the sense that he was there earlier, but Durant is clearly Dubs' best player and second best player in the world.

It doesn't matter though. Him and Curry seem to have a great relationship, in the final game, Durant was actually trying to give to Curry the final MVP, and he tried to brush of when asked about him winning final MVP instead of Curry with 'does it matter, it is a team's game blah blah blah'. I don't remember a better partnership. It has always been a clear No.1 and No.2 (Jordan-Pippen, James/Wayne, Kobe/Gasol) or two very near No.1 not liking each other (Shaq/Kobe) but here it seems that all they want is to win rings, and who is better isn't one of the things they care about most.

Do people truly believe that because I really dont see Kyrie or KD going to the Knicks.

It has nothing to do with any of this. Who was there first, who is the best player etc... It is all to do with the system that they play and which best suits the team. The passing style with the constant moving and getting the best shot was built around Curry. They've added a bit of ISO to that since Durant arrived but when they overuse it is when they struggle. This is why it is Curry's team. He is the system! No more anyway or @Bubz27 will get upset with me. ;)

He's staying this year and possibly next. I'll be surprised if he sticks around longer. He's not at home there. He'll have won the rings he wanted; he'll have played with the great team he wanted. And he'll go to the Knicks.

The only way I see him leaving is if Curry declines fast (which might happen), but if they win another ring or two in the next two years, I just cannot see KD leaving. From all accounts, he is loving it there. And he is living in San Francisco, so I doubt that the charm of New York plays some role.

The more rings you have the less important they become. There are other challenges to seek.

Durant (I think) signed a 1+1 for one of three reasons. The first because he wanted to give management a break salary wise so that they would use their MLE (there was talk that they may not use it because of the luxury tax cost). Number two because next year he can sign a 5 year supermax deal or option 3 because he really wants to keep his options open. If it truly is option three then I think there is a very good chance he moves on.

Maybe. But then:

1) Durant seems obsessed with winning. He genuinely thinks that he is the best player in the world. He won't ever be rated as good as James, but he has a good chance of ending with more rings, more finals MVP and more points scored than James. That seems important for him.

2) By being in such a great team, he can prolong his career. He needs to spend less energy, he doesn't need to be at 100% every game. Longer he plays, more money he gets, better legacy he leaves behind. Durant cares about his legacy as much as James.

3) He seems to be loving it here, and is good friends with Steph and co, is having fun there. Heck, he can even coach there for a game if he wants to.

4) It is San Francisco, a great city to live.

5) Arguably more business opportunities than in any other city in the world.

I mean, New York with Porzingis and potentially Kyrie sounds good, but why settle for some good when you are already in a great place.
