NBA 2016-17

D'Lo, Young and Randle were out, then Calderon got injured as well. They didn't have any PG at one stage.
Ah okay, tough luck. They might still finish with 30-35 wins.

I'm still not convinced Rockets are all that.
They beat the Warriors and Spurs and are 19-7 imo they are overachieving but MDA is making a difference and Harden isn't chasing high scoring games to preserve energy, they are fun to watch as well, really didn't expect that at start of the season.

Interesting to see the Cavs rest their 3 main guys last night vs Memphis. If I was Steve Kerr I'd do exactly the same next week for the Christmas Day game vs the Cavs. It's the third game in 4 nights for the Warriors and is also the last leg of an east coast swing. If I were Steve I'd tell Steph, Klay, KD and Draymond to catch a Friday night flight out of Detroit and go and spend Xmas with the family. I'd love to see what Adam Silver would do at that point but if teams are going to rest players you're not going to get a much better opportunity than this. Night off and Xmas with the family - can't beat that.

EDIT:I'd probably give Iggy the night off too since I'm a generous type of guy.

That'd actually be fun but I doubt they'll do that. Way too proud and hurt over last year's finals.

Are you sure Draymond will be happy with that after his comments wanting to 'crush' the Cavs the first chance he gets? :p

To be honest, I'm thinking that might be exactly the reason they would do it. The Cavs are at home and the Warriors are coming off a back to back two days earlier. This is a perfect opportunity for the Dubs to get blown out. Would they really want to give the Cavs that kind of ammunition for the future?

The Cav fans would surely be crushed. Makes up for the "Memphis 3". ;)

Well, can't say you don't have a point here. I just doubt that Warriors will throw away the first game against Cavaliers that they play after finals loss, even though at full strength they are probably still going to lose it.

I don't understand why Kings rested Cousins BTW. They need wins and every loss from now will be pushing them further behind the playoffs line. They are 9-16 now so it's time to start playing.

Nah, it'll be similar to last season's reg. season games. They aren't going to show their hand until the finals.

Durant: “Since I love you guys so much… I was recorded at 6’10” and ¾ with no shoes, so with my shoes on I’m seven feet.”

Fitzgerald: “So, the 6’9” thing, we can just put that in the past.”

Durant: “I just like messing with people.”

Ok.

Courtside interviews and fashion sense will never be the same again :( RIP Craig.

His ESPY Awards 2016 speech is definitely worth listening to for those who haven't heard it.

I'm getting up at 6 AM Boxing Day to watch that so they better not rest them! I want a really good game.

RIP Craig Sager.

Look at the reaction from the opponent's bench... nba is so weird, would be te equivalent of the Bayern bench going mad and all "woohooo" when messi embarrassed Boaten and scored in that cl semi.

It will be 8:30 PM game here, perfect.

Rockets were 9 down with 1.20 to play and got it to OT and then ended up winning.Meanwhile Warriors putting on an absolute show tonight.

There'll be no playoffs at Moda Center this year if Blazers don't pull their shit together.

Cannot wait for the Christmas Day games. It's become one of the highlights of Christmas for me, Especially when the Knicks play.

Lost by 2 points to the Spurs with our first choice C out, not bad Rockets, not bad.
This is not the game I would have chosen to point out how good a team the Rockets are. When you are leading by 13 with less than 5 minutes to go you should win - with or without Capela. Nevertheless I would much prefer to play the Clippers in the second round if I were the Dubs rather than the Rockets. Based on the season so far, IMLTHO Houston are a very, very, good team.

Great game from Isaiah Thomas against Memphis. Didn't expect at HT the Celtics would win this one. Also, the Rockets look really strong this year, it'll be interesting to say how they will fare in the playoffs.

I don't know what the reaction to the Bayern bench was, but it's happened a lot in football, more disbelief appreciation or something mostly.

Losing to Mavericks at home, new low.
What has happened? Last year, I always looked at the Blazers as being a team that on any given night could beat anyone. This year it seems to be the reverse - on any given night they could lose to anyone. On paper, the team itself seems virtually identical to last years. Don't get it myself!

Absolutely zero defense, hero ball from Lillard in every fourth quarter, very little effort. We are not making playoffs in this shape and it is pointless if we do because Warriors will outscore us by 150 in 4.

If there was a least valuable player award Evan Turner would be running away with it.

Clippers tried their best to bottle it against Spurs. Leonard is really fantastic, would be my current pick for MVP.

On other news, Warriors won again with a high margin despite that they were -10 on the second quarter.

Kevin Durant is running away with it so far.
Durant is probably my favorite player, and he's probably the best in the league, but I think that without Durant, the Warriors are still great, while without Leonard, the Spurs would fight to get into playoff. The likes of Parker, Ginobili and Gasol have been fantastic players but all of them are past it and the team is totally dependent on Leonard.

A bit like Thunders with Westbrook and Rockets with Harden, but Leonard is far more a team player than those two, in addition to being the best defender in the league.

I agree with that but the criterio for awarding the MVP generally isn't based on that. Golden State will win the most number of games in the league, by far, and Durant will end up as the best player for them and get the MVP.

I think it is. It is the most valuable player, not the best player, so if a player is very valuable for his team (and of course, his team does very good), then the player might get the award even if he is not the best player in the league.

For what is worth, I would put LeBron, Durant and Curry above Leonard in the best player category.
