NBA 2015-2016

I love the way you just throw isolated stats into the mix, as a means to prove/disprove a point.

*Utah averaged less Opponents PPG than any other team in the league last season. LA (Lakers) and Detroit(tied for 18th) averaged more PPG than Memphis(20th). Utah,LA and the other team all failed to reached the playoffs last season, and Memphis got to the Conference semis.

A United forum (in 2015) is also the worst place to use an isolated possession stat to prove a point.

* - Example of how an isolated stat is pretty useless.

Not even going to bring up Miami's problems (both on and off the court) last season. As they were well documented.

Pretty obvious you dislike Miami.

Cleveland
Chicago

Then any combination of Atlanta Washington Toronto Boston Milwaukee
Don't you think your Pistons could get into that mix as well? I mean you started 3-0 against Hawks, Bulls and Jazz.

I've seen some of the Knicks games and I must say they look much better now. If Melo stays healthy, I think they will make the playoffs instead of the Bucks.

Washington,Toronto, Boston and Milwaukee over Miami?

Not agenda driven at all.

Heat fan? Welcome buddy. No need to be upset, you must be new here. Here is a short introduction about Eboue to save you a few heated discussions in the future:

1- Lebron is his favorite player, and he's the best player ever.

2- He hates Miami for two reasons: he's a Detroit fan, and because Lebron came to Miami.

3- He likes Cleveland, mainly because he hates Miami.

4- Chris Paul is the best point guard in the history of the game.

5- Westbrook is the worst point guard in the world.

6- Kobe Bryant is the 2nd worst shooting guard in the world.

7- Wade is the worst shooting guard in the world, and he really hates him.

8- Josh Smith is the worst human being in the world (and that includes his basketball skills).

9- He hates Miami.

Having said that, Miami are anything but predictable this year. I have high hopes too, the problem is, and will always be, injuries. Also don't expect Miami to make a big run early in the season, but if they stay healthy they can pick it up after the all star break when they start to develop some chemistry. Interesting season ahead, let's see how it pans out.

Yeah, pretty much used to Eboue at this point. A healthy Miami is a top 3 team in the East, no doubt about that.

Are you a new member?

Understandable, 2 top 5 players though (when healthy).

If KD and Russ stay fit then I expect to make the West finals and would be disappointed to lose. I'd understand it though considering how good the Warriors are likely to be, and the Spurs will no doubt be very strong again. It's probably championship or bust regarding Durant though. Can't see him staying unless he gets a ring.

It's not an isolated stat. You have no idea what you are even talking about. No one with half a clue uses points per game anymore because teams play at different paces. If you can't figure out why points per possession matter, don't bother to respond.

I only used that example to show you how an isolated stat is pretty useless. I also haven't dismissed Points per possession as irrelevant, i have simply highlighted the fact that it shouldn't be used to purely discredit a team on it's own. There are plenty factors to consider.

Using only Points per possession to discredit Miami is crazy. I don't see you using it against Houston and Memphis who were 9th and 10th in the West.

Points per possession and points allowed per possesion. Houston and Memphis were 5th and 6th in per possession margins. Because Memphis had the third best defense in the west and Houston the fourth.

Harden doing a lot better tonight, hopefully after starting 0-4 we go on a winning streak, too early in the season to count the Rockets out.

I have not been a big fan of Kobe for a long time but, I think he has gotten some unfair flack over the last few seasons for his contract and people blaming him for the Lakers not signing big free agents. Saying all that though but, he is killing the Lakers right now. There might not be a player hurting his team more than Kobe is right now. Him being on the team is hurting what should be the Lakers main goal developing their young players. His insistence to shoot it every possession is taking valuable touches away from Russell, Clarkson and Randle. With Kobe's influence along with Lou and Swaggy being in the rotation there is "I am going to get mine" mentality effecting the whole team. And Russell has struggled to fit into the offense since he is the only perimeter player bar Huertas who is not just gunning out there. At this point it would be toxic for the Lakers if Byron Scoot and Kobe are here next season. The Lakers need to be a high tempo, high pick and roll, space and pace team to get the best out of their young talent.(Edit caveat: I do wonder though if Clarkson and Russell can work well together long term they might be too similar).

James Harden: 37 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks in a 110-105 win over the Thunder. He's back.

Harden :(. Had to step it up against OKC. Blowing a 15 point lead or whatever it was was so frustrating. 4-0 with the Raptors at home would have been such a good start.

10k + posts in the newbies? :(

We will get KD soon, my friend.
Nah I was messing with you. I think this is my 6th year here, being the only Miami fan here for years. :(

About KD, till now I'm just excited about this season. We won't win it or even reach the finals, but we have probably the most interesting team in the league. Hopefully we stay healthy this year.

We'll have the whole off-season to think about KD, but if we really want to have a shot at him, we really need to perform well this season.

Tough game tonight by the way.

James Harden with 46 in win over the Clippers, 4 wins in a row now, 2 40+ points games for the beard in b2b games, Dwight Howard with 20 points and 20 rebounds tonight too, I know the 3 losses in a row were bad for the Rockets but the only won that really hurts must be the Heat game.

The Beard is on fire.

How is Lawson playing?

Yeah that quarter was pretty one-sided. Also Drummond's stat line

Warriors next game too, will be interesting.

Warriors are on a whole different level to start the season so far.

It's truly unfair.

Was watching the Grizzlies Warriors game. We held them to 21 points in the first quarter and I'm thinking "this is good, even if they win it'll be a quality loss". They proceed to outscore us by 50 fecking points.

I was hoping the Knicks would find a way to sneak into the playoffs this season. But, even watching them win yesterday they just do not look like a potential playoff team even in the horrible East. I do not think you can survive in the NBA these days with guard play this bad. Calderon does not look like an NBA player anymore his lack of athleticism always made him a cone on defense but with how slow he is now he can not do much on offense either. Vujacic is showing why he has not gotten consistent minutes in the NBA for a while. Galloway either looks good or horrible with no inbetween. And Jerami Grant is only a rookie. Afflao is coming back but, he is not the type to completely change a teams fortunes. Porzingis does look like a potential star though.

Porzingis really looks great so far. Too bad he actually really seems to like playing for the Knicks, I'd love him to jump ship at the first possibility just to laugh into the faces of those Knicks fans that booed him at the draft.

Hawks look even better with Bazemore instead of Carroll so far, which is great. They haven't played the strong west teams so far tho, so we'll see.
