Nba 2011-2012

Troy Murphy is good enough to start for the Lakers instead of McRoberts given their shitty lineup, at least till Bynum comes back.

Perhaps Cuban clearing all the cap room to make a run at Howard/Williams next season is backfiring. Then again, he may have decided to make do with this season with the next 3-7 years in mind, and Chandler would have tied up precious cap room for four years (at $15m per season).

It's also possible that the longer Howard remains in Orlando the more likely a trade occurs by February (with whomever). The Mavs might go for Howard this season and make a free agency run at Williams. Have no idea how/if they could do so financially and what parts would have to be traded for Howard. If they don't get one of those two it could be a return to mediocrity once Kidd moves on as one would expect Dirk to begin to fade by 2013. I say they miss out on Howard but get Williams next summer (unless Howard ends up in NJ/Brooklyn and Williams resigns).

Reading on the 'net some fans are calling for Carlisle to stick this kid, Sean Williams, in to provide some hustle and energy in the post. Thoughts?

BTW, the last time the Mavs started 0-2 they won 67 games (but were bounced out by the Warriors).

A really beautiful box score for the Pacers last night.

...............points..re's.assists.steals.blocks
Granger......16......4.......3.......2........1
Hibbert......16......14......2.......0........3
Hansbrough.15.....13......0.......1........0
George.......12.......7......2.......1........0
West..........11.....12......3.......0........2
Collison........8......0.......5.......2........1

Very even contribution from everyone, great rebounding. Of course it was only the Pistons, but it's a encouraging start.

Lakers struggling against Kings. I never thought I'd say that. Jveezy will be thrilled.

Holy hell! I can't even watching the highlights...

Marcus Thornton has a great stat line from this one, and Tyreke Evans must be healthy to have gone for 35 minutes, as much as anyone for the Kings.

I'd say the most glaring issue is the Kings going 9-18 from 3 and the Lakers going 1-16. That's the game right there.

Only 11 turnovers each is encouraging.

Definitely thrilled, though there's still a lot to work on.

60% from the free throw line is unacceptable.

But Thornton was definitely amazing and the team worked well together as a unit.

Yes, very encouraging first game by the Kings. I told you GooDevil, we'll be better this year, despite losing Dalembert. Tyreke looked healthy and played great defense, and Thornton is a beast.

How long before Kobe starts losing patience? He apparently wasn't consulted on who should replace Phil, he's pissed we lost Odom & he knows the other players on this team are not good enough to get him another ring. Another loss tonight and there could be a meltdown in hollywood.

San Antonio should be a great bet to win the West. It would be very exciting though to see OKC or Memphis win the conference, I think that will be your 1-2-3.

LOL! What a funny sequence! Wade blocks once. One minute later he blocks again. One minute later Rondo had a clear path to the basket, saw Wade running towards him, didn't know what to do and just threw the ball away! hehe.. You got to see it.. Very funny (even if you are not a Wade fan, I swear!)

This Norris Cole kid looks a pretty good player.

Yep. Could be vital. OK, you've got the big three (or big two-and-a-half, really) but you always need more than that and obviously it's hard under the wage ceiling. Getting a steal like that in a weakish position such as PG could be the difference. Now, about a center...

Thank god the Lakers won. Artest is getting minutes now that I dropped him from my fantasy team! Sounds like it was a tremendous defensive performance, if McRoberts and Ebanks can play defense that well then they're okay with me. But they'll have to keep it up.

That Norris Cole kid has some balls doesn't he, that said I do think being in the same team as D.Wade and LeBron may help him an awful lot, the space that creates makes his job much easier. Then again you still have to work on the catch and shoot 3's and what not, got a great IQ too, I think he'll be the Heat's Rondo and he looks an absolute steal.

Cole is exactly what the Heat needs, to fill those total-brain-lock periods the Heat goes through in the fourth quarter (which killed them in the finals last year).

He will need to do this more often though. Far more often. Still he shows a lot of promise.

Looking forward to today's game. Interesting to see how a tired Miami Heat can fare away from home.

They ain't tired, the Heat are in phenomenal shape much better than anyone else anyway, I think they've only let leads slip in the last 2 games as they are still adapting to this new spread offense of theirs.

Well Charlotte do have an advantage today having had 48 hours rest to Miami's 24, and they are playing home..

Miami look more cohesive this year than last year. But they still have those periods occasionally when they simply don't really know what to do in offense. They had these moments last year, and it costed them dearly in the finals.

And they need to crack the code of the "zone defense!".

Yeah, the Heat seem to be winning by attrition. Dallas and LA have basically chosen to get worse, Boston is getting too old. The Spurs are good but got knocked out easily in the playoffs and Duncan is getting old, so that just leaves the Bulls, who have Boozer who disappears when it matters. That's about it for elite teams.

A good bet to win it all.

They should try passing and moving, instead of constantly trying to beat their man 1-on-1. It's called basketball!

I read somewhere that Spoelstra copied this idea from the NFL. Rather than have set plays the Heat offense is spread out and they attack more randomly and freely. It's an interesting tactic but I'm not sure if that will work in the playoffs against better defenses.

1st Quarter: Miami 20 - Charlotte 32.

And they do look tired compared to their performance yesterday, AND compared to Charlotte.. Now what? They are the most athletic team in the league, agreed, BUT they also RELY on their athleticism more than the other teams, so once they lose that advantage (or lose part of it), the question will be: Do they have other ways to win a game??

Let's see how they answer this question in this game..

Augustine heard I dropped him from my fantasy team and he's out to prove to me he should be starting in this league.

But I still think you shouldn't call a grown man 'DJ'.

That's how I've always played NBA video games, never thought I'd see a coach take that path though. Especially without a great point guard! Though obviously they have others who can create their own shot.

Well, ALMOST good news for the Heat..

Wade IS back, but doesn't look 100%..
And Miami outscored Charlotte by 14 in the third quarter, but they still haven't got the lead yet.

3rd Quarter: Miami 69 - Charlotte 70.

That's what you get for getting Pau Gasol for Joe Johnson. If I knew that he was available so cheap I would have made an offer!

My guys aren't doing well in the fantasy league anyway, so don't worry, Pau will suck now that I have him.. Besides, Johnson and Young are good players, and have good balance to their stats.

What a play! Bosh blocks, James saves the ball and throws an I-have-eyes-on-the-back-of-my-head assist across the full court to Wade for a dunk!

That's my boy! Gave me f*** in fantasy points, BUT WON THE GAME!

He doesn't look fully fit though, hope it's not serious..

So Miami did prevail in the end, and found a way to win, which is a good sign.. Everybody will be talking about Bosh in this game, and obviously he had a big hand in the win, but James! 35 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists! The man is on a mission this year.

And the funnies part is that the refs missed it, and didn't give the basket! (Although considering the force and speed James threw it in with, I wouldn't blame them)..

And Thaddeus Young, I'm not going to lie I don't like Gasol. I think Johnson+Young is a fair deal.
