Nba 2008-2009

Yeah the lottery is a load of shit

I think it's an awesome idea, but it could do with some fixing:

The NHL for example has a 8 position either way deviation, so the team who barely misses the playoffs cant nick it.

Pretty much so teams wont feck off their season to get the best player possible.

mavs trying to move up and avoid the lakers. it they can move up to sixth they might hang for a while. if they end up at seven or eight and have to play denver or la then they'll go out in the first round. my mavs have played pretty well of late.

Portland is a sleeper folks... reminds me of NO last year, probably will lose due to lack of experience but god what a fun team to watch.

The Spurs will be out first round, Ginobli's loss is such a dagger

I don't see Portland as a sleeper as everyone is so close in the West, the only team that is really guaranteed to go through are the Lakers, although I think the Nuggets will as well becasue they are playing so well of late, and are going to be rewarded because of their #2 seed.

I spoke to John Amaechi in Tesco earlier. Former basketball players like peanuts apparently, he had a whole basket full. That is all.

He was a different breed, shit player tbf, didnt he get a phd in philosphy or polisci

Hehe, the nuts reference was not an attempt at a joke on my part by the way. He actually was purchasing an obscene amount of peanuts; I guess he must have been having a party or something. It says on his Wiki page that he was planning on returning to University to get a Ph.D. in psychology Alex, not sure if he has actually done it. He was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by Manchester Metropolitan University for his charity work etc in the city though. He seemed a decent bloke, though my initial thought was that his listed playing height of 6’10 is probably inaccurate.

dallas wins tonight (over new orleans), utah loses (to s.a.), means dallas is tied with new orleans for the sixth spot in the west. if they beat them again on sunday they'll have the sixth spot with two games to go. much better spot than a week ago. :nervous:

feck I want the Nuggets to play Utah in the first round, not NO or Dallas. Dallas would be the toughest for sure but I bet the Nuggets could still get through it, Utah would be doable as would NO although Paul is the best point guard in the league, but Denver has the best defensive PG which somewhat negates Paul unless he is absolutely on fire.

Nuggets have a better chance against Dallas than NO or Utah. No one knows what NO or Utah are actually capable of. Utah has the talent to surprise many teams but do they have the toughness ? NO have a great player in CP3 and you cant really negate great players. An aging Kidd and Dirk are probably easier to negate.

That's the thing though with Billups the Nugs can negate Williams and Paul to a degree, if Dirk gets hot I dont see Nene stopping him. That's one reason I wish the Nugs would have kept Camby as he was a great depender.

The more I watch the Blazers, the more I think that they are capable of being the dark horse this season who will probably upset a side or 2.

With the Lakers losing, have the Cavs sealed home court for the finals and MVP for James ? I doubt they'll drop 2 of the 3 remaining games.

Good to see someone else on here.

To be frank, The West is Lakers, then everyone else... they could very well be the best of that everyone else bracket.

This is right, they were the best team without Bynum and he is back now

Another masterclass from CP3 - 31 points, 17 assists and 9 rebounds in the win against Dallas.

yup. good game by paul. now dallas needs help. they have to win out and hope n.o. lose their last two (both road games...at houston and s.a.). they play houston tomorrow with no rest. houston's last game was friday. dallas has two home games. minn tomorrow and houston on wed. i think n.o. has the toughest task. dallas can still get sixth but i don't think they will.

We did it!

The Kings have clinched the most ping pong balls for the lottery! No worse than the 4th pick!

Rubio or Griffin please.

n.o. getting killed right now, dallas is in a fight. :nervous:

edit: n.o. got killed and dallas won with a last second shot. still alive for the sixth spot. :nervous:

For the hornets to miss the playoffs they have to lose every game and the Suns have to win every remaining game

i'm so sorry. when i saw your post, and the name hornets, the city of charlotte popped into my head. forgot about the bobcats .

well...this is how it ended up in the west-

1 LA Lakers
2 Denver
3 San Antonio
4 Portland
5 Houston
6 Dallas
7 New Orleans
8 Utah

n.o. and utah ending the season poorly (4-6 and 3-7 respectively in their last 10)

and the east-

1 Cleveland
2 Boston
3 Orlando
4 Atlanta
5 Miami
6 Philadelphia
7 Chicago
8 Detroit

with only cleveland, boston, and philly ending the season on a positive note (above .500 in their last 10)

Boston going into the playoffs with no KG, and depending on how long they go, he's done for the year.

Clevelands berth in the finals to lose now.

PREDICTION TIME !!!

Cleveland 4-1 Detroit
Boston 4-2 Chicago
Orlando 4-1 Philly
Miami 4-3 Atlanta

Creating: Cleveland - Miami & Boston - Orlando

The West:

Los Angeles 4-1 Utah
Denver 4-3 New Orleans
San Antonio 4-2 Dallas
Portland 4-3 Houston

Making: LA - Portland (SICK series) & Denver - San Antonio

I honestly think that NO will be tougher than SA without Ginobli for the NUggets, yeah the LA Portland series is reminiscent of the one in 2000, the comeback by the Lakers in game 7 was sick, that alley op that sealed it was pure class. Portland really has done well in the draft recently, Roy was a great pickup, as was Oden although I dont know how long LeBron's father will last he is a dominant figure in the middle. Wish the Nuggs still had Camby

Portland look like they are in trouble, Houston are a scary team even without McGrady

the key to beating houston is to run yao to death. once he's tired there's no one else on the team who can really carry the team now that mcgrady's gone. artest is a nice complementary player but not a cornerstone type.

I agree, Artest does have a great offensive game every few weeks but Yao is their key, they would be the 2nd best team in the West if they had all of their team healthy.

Well we just learned that Derrick Rose is pretty good.

You're just knowing this now

To be honest that game was painful to watch, the shit shooting and poor play by Boston's offence was just a sight to be shocked by.

Somewhere Bill Simmons didn't sleep

I'm picking the Mavs to "upset" the Spurs. Not that I really care about the NBA. Figure the Lakers will take the title this year.

There were ALOT of Mavs fans in SA last night, and Dirk looked good :wenger:

Goodness me Portland better win game 2 or a sweep is in order, that wasn't the Blazers team i've been watching and been impressed by all season.

Fair analysis, the question is will it happen?
