He's exactly what we would need. A dribbler from midfield with the ability to get into the box and deliver that last pass. Probably a better pick than Sneijder.

It's bullshit alright.

Man, I was getting quite hard for a while, now it's all soft...

Sneijder is the top target inter are insisting on nani in return which the culb have agreed to but there are other offers on the table.
If we get sneijder then young is seen as the replacement for nani.

If we don't get sneijder then Sanchez is the top target in which case nani will likely be sold to inter and young would not be required. Again there are other offers on the table.
We would then look for a more cost effective centre mid solution possibly nasri but could be someone else completely different. Maybe kagawa, or Adam, but that is just speculation.

This is why our big dealings have stalled, bit of a stand off. Also why young was getting a bit miffed and was looking like the scousers were favourites to sign him last week.

Rodwell will sign.

Flawless. Absolutely flawless.

Manchester United Arsenal transfer news Samir Nasri could be subject cheeky £10m offer as could leave on free next summer - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Manchester United are planning a sensational £10million swoop for Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri.

The Mirror has learned that United are exploring the possibility of luring Nasri – who's out of contract at the end of the 2011-2012 season - to Old *Trafford in a deal that would enrage Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

United are understood to have outlined their interest in Nasri to a third party, although the France midfielder’s agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has not been involved in any preliminary negotiations.

Nasri’s reluctance to enter into talks with Arsenal over a contract extension, until he is satisfied with their spending and recruitment plans for this summer, has alerted the champions to his potential availability.

United boss Alex Ferguson needs to strengthen in central midfield and Nasri's creativity and goal threat suggest he would be a perfect replacement for the recently-retired Paul Scholes.

Although United are also tracking £35m-rated Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder and £25m-rated Tottenham star Luka Modric, Nasri may be a more realistic target as he has just the one year left on his current deal.

If Nasri does refuse to sign a new contract, Arsenal would have to cash in on him this summer for a knockdown price or risk losing him for nothing when he becomes a free agent.

And it seems United are ready to test their rivals' resolve to keep Nasri, who earlier this week refused to rule out the prospect of making the controversial switch by joining the champions.

“I don’t know if I will sign a new contract," he said. “Anyway, the discussions are ongoing.

“Do I want to go to Manchester United? First, we should see if it’s real and if it’s concrete.”

Arsenal have offered Nasri a five-year deal worth £90,000-a-week which remains on the table after his representatives asked for time to decide whether to accept it.

The 10million bid stood out for me

That will be reacted with a swift no

If we let him join a rival for the sake of £20k a week, the board is going to get slaughtered, especially given that the season ticket prices have gone up.

Sums it up. It will be Cashley all over again.

That's how negotiations work, lodge a nominal bid even if you know it will be rejected, it puts pressure on the "selling" club and turns the head of the player, and if in this case, Nasri refuses to extend, Arsenal will have no choice but to sell and little bargaining power to get an appropriate fee. If Nasri refuses to sign, Arsenal will be lucky to get £20m for him wherever he goes despite his quality and top season just gone.

Yup. Plus, chances are that the end fee (after many rounds of haggling) will be at a certain distance from the starting fee, so the lower the starting bid, the lower the end fee will be. At least that's my general experience from haggling, which may or may not be as applicable to football players as it is to taxi fares.

I see

In that case, at that price, you will get the likes of Milan, Inter, maybe even Bayern coming in with bids, which Arsenal will no doubt accept over any bid from us.

Unless Nasri really wants to join us, then that would make it interesting

"Ten million for Nasri? Are you trying to insult me?"

That's the be all and end all to this mooted deal happening. If he's open minded and willing to got to any Tom, Dick, or Harry then Arsenal will no doubt do just that. If he's hell bent on joining us though, they'll have no choice but to sell him to us at a knockdown price or just hand him over next summer for zip.

Either way, we don't know the situation. If I was to put money on it, he's using the Rooney way of getting the deal he wants, and if he doesn't get it he'll be off to Inter or Real. Footballer's are as loyal as stray cats nowadays so I'd be pleasantly surprised if someone like Nasri was adament about joining us with such interest elsewhere aswell, as I'm sure there would undoubtedly be if he went public about leaving Arsenal.

 Class.

Of all the transfers that we've been linked with I want him the most. He's probably the Arsenal player I dislike the most. He can be a real bitch but he's their attacking player, has shown some real Messi/Maradona/Onuoha skills and can make something out of nothing. Plus Arsenal would lose big time. I'd take him for more than 30m.

well nani will go if we as rumoured get pato rodriguez, so him young, valencia and park, with morrisson getting cup games would be the future wingers. Sneijder would be good, as would banega.

whoever it is, i hope Fergie moves fast. faster than he was when he was caught speeding on the hard shoulder.

So today has been all for nothing then?

That's exactly what being what a transfer muppet is being about, it's not about the signing of the player, it's as much about the chase, that's why Benzema will always hold a special place in the hearts of so many transfer muppets, he's the gift that just kept on giving....and continues to do so

friendlytramp mk II?

Why would buying a young AM be the end of our most talented winger?

Exactly. It doesn't matter whether we actually sign the player - the transfer muppet's purest joy comes from imagining the tears of rival supporters flowing over the advertising hoardings as he runs past them...while we laugh & pick up another trophy. :D

Well, it's in several papers now that we've had 'unofficial' talks with Nasri representatives who are not his agent.

Which means somebody is feeding the media. Obviously the question is why, and yes, pushing Arsenal to offer him better wages is a big possibility.

Even though I"m a massive sneijder fan, i might be tempted to want nasri more as he's 3 years younger, more flexible tactically, and would be a kick in arsenal's bollocks.

I don't want modric at all.

Jones, Young, De Gea, Nasri.....very good summer.

Okay, im going to be the muppet to ask the question.

Say we do get de gea, young, jones and nasri, will we have enough to beat barcelona in a CL final?

Nope. I think that only De Gea and Nasri would get in the 11 and VDS was better than De Gea is now and not sure Nasri is that much better than a 37 year old Giggs.....still I'd be pretty damn happy with that haul!

There's a more important muppet question. How will this Summer rank against the Halcyon Muppet Summer of Love 2007?

I'd love to get De Gea, Jones, Young and Nasri but I really think we're not addressing our biggest problem... a midfielder with balls of steel, we need a strong midfielder. Damn, I wish we'd bought Yaya Toure a year ago... City had Kolo Toure and a blank check though, really couldn't compete with that. We just need someone like him in my opinion.

But on the bright side, if we get Young and Nasri we'll be killer going forward.

I think we lack 'guile' over 'steel' and would be much happier with a Sneijder than a Toure. Saying that, a Toure style player would be welcome too.

We already have enough to beat Barcelona in a CL Final if we don't use shit tactics, Arsenal beat them in the Emirates, Real Madrid beat them in a Cup Final, they're not invincible. If you're asking will we be stronger than Barcelona, then no, it is practically impossible to match them by making transfers, it's certainly impossible for us unless we were to spend the best part of the £170m or so that's currently in the bank.

If we make the signings you mention we will have only one upgrade to our team from Wembley, I don't know how you can even think that would be good enough to make us favourites in a game against Barcelona. I think Ferguson realises that it will not be possible for him to overtake this Barcelona side, that's not what these transfers are about, they're about strengthening the squad and improving our chances, the same as any summer.

I'm convinced we had enough this year we just got our tactics wrong and had the unfortunate case of Fletcher not really being available yet again against them
