Nani will reignite our charge to the title

I sooo want Anderson to do the same...hail the class of 2007!
Class of '07 struggled after its first year. Tevez faded, then left, Anderson stalled, then blew out his knee, and Hargreaves has barely played since Moscow. At least Nani has improved.

Said it for a while - needed a run of games and even if he had a so-so game, needs to keep playing. He's had a couple of those but, retained his place.

Just keep his feet on the ground and should become even better.

He's always had the ability to produce something special and change games, even when he was poor at times.

This kind of form was always coming. Just a shame some spastics don't want particular players to succeed for whatever reasons.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've always been a fan of Nani. Yes there was a time I believed he may be sold, not because I wanted him to be but because of his outburst about SAF. I've always said I'd love nothing more than to see Nani realise his potential, and it finally looks like he's now on his way to doing that.

Same here.

I think Nani is a fecking revelation...most improved player this season...

Yesterday he was up and down the pitch, helping in defense then leading the attack. He superbly made 2 goals, my MotM.

The only criticism I would have is that he was too keen to pass rather than dribble in the 1st half. SAF must have had a word with him at half time because he got the balance just right in the 2nd.

Great that he now seems to be settling in on the left and I feel he can now gradually take over from Giggsy during next season and the following year.

And to cap it all, in the interviews I have seen, he seems to be abloody nice bloke!

He's getting better and better.

I think his potential is HUGE. He can go past players with ease at times. Hope SAF keeps Valencia and Nani together on the pitch for the rest of the season.

as outsiders we can obviously never know but he always seemed a bit withdrawn from his teamates to me in previous years. whereas this years he seems a far more 'in' with the group - just my opinion of course but previously he seemed on another planet at times, SAF did say he was a very shy lad earlier in the year perhaps he's only just really feeling comfortable being here now

He seems so much more settled (and popular!) now and his performances over the past 3 months have been fantastic and i'm really pleased for him. If he can produce that over a season we've got our 1st choice left wing sorted

Has he scored in his return to form? There was the own goal by Almunia. That's the closest he's come isn't it?
Yeah, he hasn't scored since August, against Wigan. I'm surprised to see he's only scored twice this season, the other one in the community shield.

Four assists in four games more than make up for the lack of goals of course.

Very true, but he deserves a goal.

He does but lately he seems more content with finding team mates and not shooting from 30+ yards, its odd because since hes found his assist boots he seems to have lost his shooting boots

When you consider that Ronaldo took a few years to become the finished article and that Nani was living in his shadow for a few years, it is only now that he has had an extended run and has been able to develop. He's probably where Ronaldo was, say, 4 years ago.

I can't see him ending up as good as Ronaldo, but I think in a couple of years we'll see a world class player and Portugal with him & Ronaldo on the wings, could take the 2012 Euro's by storm.

Some lovely little touches & flicks in that video and some great ball control. That on the spot turn on approx 30 seconds was sublime...

I think Nani is in the Ribery category, just under the Rooney category and like most people, a bit below the Messi and Ronaldo category. So he probably wont ever be best player in the world, he can still be the best out and out winger in the world in terms of playing a winger's game, crossing the ball in and scoring some goals. And this is why I've always believed in him - because he has so much technical talent.

Also credit to United, I think this season we've seen "The United way" really seep into the games of Nani and Berbatov, two players who were always technically there but there were question marks over whether they'll effectively run the hard yards for the team when needed and fulfil the tactical needs of the team. If we can get Nani and Berbatov singing our tune, I think we can get any player to play with more desire and work harder no matter the question marks over their work ethic or mentality. Its what it means to play for Manchester United where the bar is set so high and unlike at certain other clubs like Madrid, the players get the support they need and I'm mainly talking about from the staff. We have our fickle and impatient fans too. But thankfully the backroom staff dont act in the same way.

He did well when he came on, you could tell straight away he wanted to make a difference and it meant something to him. Shame he didn't start.

I have no clue why Giggs even started. He has been out for an extended layoff and then as soon as hes health the SAF throws him back in. Nani should have started and showed why. Farrerria is a terrible RB and Giggs never once exploited that. We needed pace on both wings and Giggs doesnt give us that. He would have been better starting for Scholes

SAF has half of his mind on Bayern. I think SAF delayed the subs today, but I understand.

Same.

And same with Fletcher too, I think either he was advised or decided on his own that he needed to manage his energy levels today and not go 100% full burn from the first whistle like he does in some matches. In the second half we saw the Fletcher we've become used to seeing and I think the saved energy in the first half will go some way to his performance against Bayern.

Just a shame we didnt take all our chances against Bayern and then could have concentrated fully on playing this match.

Nani should have started. Giggs should be the supersub. C'mon Sir Alex.

Reds Bank on Nani

The Champions League is an accurate barometer of Nani's emergence as a force for United.

This season, the 22-year-old has a 100 per cent appearance record in the knockout rounds.

The Portuguese international was a starting cert in Sir Alex Ferguson's XI for the ties against AC Milan.

He followed that up with a place in Fergie's line-up in Germany last Tuesday against Bayern Munich.

Having missed out on a place against Chelsea on Saturday but impressing as a sub when he came on, he will almost certainly start against the Germans tomorrow night as the Reds bid to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit book their place in the last four.

Last season as the European campaign reached the key knockout stages, Nani was little more than a fringe player.

Of the seven Champions League matches from February 2009 onwards - against Inter Milan, Porto, Arsenal and Barcelona - he didn't start a single game.

His only appearance in those matches was a 22-minute cameo as a sub for Dimitar Berbatov in Portugal against Porto. That pointer to his status in the Reds squad this season improved with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, but injury set him back.

Now Nani is a key figure in Fergie's plans, a fact rubber-stamped by his new four-year Old Trafford contract.

And now the winger is looking further ahead and has plans to become a member of football's world elite.

"I'm very pleased with how things have gone. When you are doing well you wake up every day for training feeling happy and confident and that's what has happened in the last few months, and I'm working hard every day to keep improving," said the winger.

"The first half of the season was frustrating. I didn't feel good during that time because I had a couple of injuries and wasn't playing a lot.

"But the manager and my team-mates helped me and I'm enjoying things now and want to stay here for many years.

"I feel I have changed a lot. I have a better understanding of a lot of things - opposition teams, the way the game is played over here, the ambitions we have and my quality is better on the pitch.

"The team have helped me a lot, particularly the experienced players and now I am a bit older I have more experience myself, which has given me confidence.

"I always thought things would come good for me. I'm confident in my ability, I had a chat with the manager, and he told me he believed in my quality and that I am an important part of the team. He gave me my chance and since then I have done well.

"I want to become one of the best players in the world and I will keep working hard to achieve that.

"I want to keep working hard to improve everything. I have many ambitions to do more and more for this great club and for myself. I hope to score more goals, provide more assists and help us win trophies. It's great to know the club have confidence in me and I am delighted to have signed for another four years," he said.

"I'm so happy here and really enjoying my life in Manchester and I want to keep doing my best for the team."

Reds bank on Nani - Manchester Evening News

You gotta love the confidence and maturity oozing out of him at the moment. Hopefully he can help inspire our team against Bayern Munich because this is one of the biggests tests of our season, and we must not fail.

The best thing about his recent form was that despite playing brilliantly even in the big matches, the goals were still to come. 2 tonight, hopefully a few more before the end of the season. And then many more to come.

just what did he eat over the winter break?!!!!!. he has come back transformed. Its just phenomenal development.

I remember when he and babel where both signed weeks within each other. I thought Babel was the better talent .... but the gulf in class between them now is unbelievable.

As nani gains confidence, so his quality improves even more. Next year will be a very big year for him

Was really good today and was expecting him to get his hat-trick when he was 1 on 1 but it wasnt to be :(

Nani is become a wonderful winger. Can't wait for next season when he starts off in this sort of form.

I hope his performance isn't overlooked in the wake of defeat. Absolutely brilliant. I'm so happy for him.

If he never improves, but stays at this level consistently, we have one of the best players in the world.
