Perisic
Griezmann
Rose
Belotti

I'm surprised as to how many people on here are happy going into next season with Fellaini as a starting defensive midfielder...
Of the three who usually start, Herrera is the one who plays deepest. Fellaini actually played #10 in the final.

I would be a happy man just with Verratti and Griezmann for this summer.

Since that ain't gonna happen

- Belotti
- Griezmann
- Dier
- Keane

Griezman
CB - Dier? Keane? A Mourinho special? Pepe?
CM - Matuidi/Dier?
LB - Mendy or Rose
Fabinho - DM and RB.
Striker

6 in ;)

Griezmann £83m
Matuidi £12m
Van Dijk £25m
Belotti £35m
Perisic £35m

£200m give or take. Some strength down spine, Ibra replacement, new number 10 and a both footed winger for some competition.

Smalling might leave for 20m, Ibra and Rooney on frees, possibly Martial for a large fee.

Got to be more than 4 with all the noise on the net.

Griezmann
Keane
Perisic
Fabinho
Rose

If we get those then we're ready for an assault on the League and at least a quarter-final showing in the CL.

Griezmann 85m
Lukaku 70m
Perisic 35m
Fabinho 40m
Keane 25m

255m in total. We can bring it down to under 200m if we can sell a few players.

Griezmann
Perisic
Keane
Matuidi

Hopefully Fabinho also.

Griezmann
Fabinho
Rose/Mendy
Gimenez

That's a bit of muppet mode... But not impossible imo. Possibly a striker as well, but for that position I'm totally clueless

Engaging full muppet.

Griezmann 80?
Fabinho 45?
Perisic 30
Keane 25

Muppet

Griez 80?
Fabinho 45?
Sanchez 55?
Jose Gimenez 40(how ever the feck you spell it)
Belotti 50

Although that would probably mean Ibra leaving & one other attacker. Also means players like Andreas wouldn't get a game.

That way I will be a happy man if we only signed Verratti. I have no doubt with a world class Defensive Mid this team will challenge for the PL.

Well I have to do one with Griezmann in now as it is the one rumour seems concrete:

Griezmann
Marqhiunos
Renato Sanches
A relative unknown

Griezmann 85m
Lukaku 70m
Perisic 35m
Fabinho 40m
Keane 25m

255m in total. We can bring it down to under 200m if we can sell a few players.

Im thinking similar now......

With DDG/Schneiderlin/Depay to bring net down to 150m

It's tragic just how much work this squad needs. It looks as though we need a completely new attack to be honest. We don't really have one effective winger to my mind and Rashford is not ready (and may never be) to be first choice number 9. I've just scribbled down the best line up I can think of and it's like this -

De Gea

Valencia / Bailly / Rojo / Darmian

NEW DM

Herrera / Pogba

NEW RF / NEW ST / NEW LF

De Gea may go, and I'd probably be OK with Romero as number 1 given how much attention is needed elewhere.

Valencia is OK at RB for now, Bailly looks the part, but how many really see Rojo as a first choice CB? Likewise Darmian, he's the best option we have at LB but it's not ideal is it. There's no chance Shaw will become a top drawer left back for us.

Do we have a good enough DM? No...Carrick has time catching up with him, so we need to address this.

I didn't think much of Herrera at all (and no wonder) until last season when Jose got the most out of him through necessity. The squad needs so much done that he will really have to remain as a first pick; in a better squad he'd be back-up or you'd be looking to replace him.

Who is our left winger? Martial? He's a 9. And so far not proven good enough, he may come good but I doubt it. We need a top class LW.

Who's our ST? Ibrahimovic should go, thanks for last seasons goals (shame about the sitters) time to move on. Rashford is not ready and isn't good enough yet. So we need one of them.

Again, who is our top drawer RW? Mkhitaryan? He's better as a 10, but he's not good enough at all. Mata...again a ten.

We need a DM, LW, ST and a RW if you are talking 4 signings. Not far behind that is a LB then CB. Then maybe a keeper if De Gea goes.

This is a pretty negative post, I know. But seriously write down the best starting 11 you can from our current squad. Then objectively think about how many of them you would replace. It doesn't look good does it?

The targets are quite clear

Donnarumma/Oblak
Semedo/Lindelof
Matic/Fabinho
Griezmann/Perisic
Lukaku

Ideally buy and sell 8 players.

Hopefully:
Attacking: Dybala
CDM: Fabinho
LB: Emerson
CB: Van Dijk

What will happen:
Attacking: Griezmann/Bellotti/Lukaku
CDM: Fabinho
LB: Rose
CB: Keane

So if griezman has cooled off, it'll be a #9, a winger , Midfielder and a left back surely?

Lukaku
Fabinho
Perisic
Rose

Would prefer Lacazette or Morata to lukaku

It's not that depressing. We need a left-side of defence, a midfielder and then probably just need to sign one definite star as a 9 (Mkhitaryan can play on the right) or W, like a Griezmann, and then trust that with their age and talent, one of Martial or Rashford can break out. Mata is around to be productive and Zlatan might come back, so it's not like there are no alternatives.

4 big signings is doable. Mourinho did it when he came back to Chelsea and last year, without the CL, we got Pogba, Bailly, Mkhitaryan and Zlatan. If we could match that sort of summer with Griezmann as the massive Pogba signing, a Morata/Lukaku type as a big Mkhitaryan level get, Fabinho as the Bailly equivalent and then instead of massive wages but no fee for Zlatan, big wages and a big transfer spend on an LB and we're in great shape.

I don't have a problem going into the season and saying that Martial and Rashford are going to be competing for either the LW or the 9 job and it's time, with their talent, even only being 21 and turning 20, to win it.

And I'll add that if we wait a year on the LCB, that would likely be fine as well considering that Jones, Rojo and Blind all looked pretty good there under Mourinho this year.

We need 2 CMs (Fellaini has his uses but we can't be one injury to 3 players away from having to change tactics or start Fellaini), an LB since Shaw can't be counted on to stay healthy, and a star attacker who we can then build the front 3 around. Anything other than that, I think it's okay to be optimistic about our existing options due to their age (Martial, Rashford) or Mourinho getting the best out of defenders.

Just looking at your line-up and I'd say Mkhitaryan isn't going to work on left wing and De Gea might go, so you're talking 6/7 players to be bought there!

Edit: just realised I think you meant to put Mkhitaryan on the right, but still I don't think he's good enough there either. Still looking at at least 6/7 good players away from where I'd want to be with the starting 11! That's bad.

I think Mkhitaryan can play on either wing if we surround him with good players and our 3 man midfield can help us dominate games and win possession a bit higher up the field, create better transitions and so on.

Let's be honest, who the feck knows anymore. After Griezmann being a done dealio since the Ajax win none of us have the slightest clue what so ever!

I have no clue now. Seems like everyone have been linked, but no one will actually sign for us.
