Name four players you think we'll buy in the summer

Belotti
Fabinho
Keane/lindelof
James
Oblak

I don't think he will sign more than five first team players. He did say he likes working with a small group

My personal opinions

Moyes
  1. Fellaini -
  2. Mata -
DOnt get me wrong, I like Mata, but both of these signings were so not what we needed and cost near 70m odd 4 years ago, awful window for me.

Van Gaal

  1. Herrera - Decent signing, as well as he has done this year he is still a squad player for me tho, love the attitude mind
  2. Rojo - Didnt know much about him, awful left back, proved himself at cb worth y of a squad spot next season
  3. Blind - Average left back, poor centre back, decent cm (where he never plays?) Versatility makes him a good squad player tho....see where Im going ;)
  4. Di Maria - Akthough I would have preferred Alexis Sanchez, a good signing for me. He started really well in a midfield 3 with Herrera and Blind, got injured and then was used on the wong, total waste of his talent, he never settled to be fair anyway
  5. Falcao - a gamble with the injuries, but I was happy we risked it, just didnt work out
  6. Schneiderlin - Never been more than average, poor signing
  7. Depay - huge flop...totally agree
  8. Schweinsteiger - he was way past his best, still thought he could ave an influence in the dressing room tho
  9. Martial - ridiculous fee but a good talent, hope he turns it round...he is a striker tho not a winger!
  10. Darmian - started well, been ok...a decent squad signing...here we go again
  11. Shaw - has hardly played in 3 years....yeah shame, he has all the talent
  12. Romero - top 2nd keeper, too good for a number 2, glad we have him th
We have spent millions on squad players and stellar names that didnt work and youngsters that havent made it yet

Van Gaal really screwed us over with his signings. Even Moyes did better. But he played his part by giving Rooney a 5-year contract. Just taking a look at our signings,

Moyes
  1. Fellaini - never established himself in the starting 11. But proving to be a reliable squad player now.
  2. Mata - arguably our best signing. Which says a lot about our other signings.

Van Gaal

  1. Herrera - was misused and then underused by Van Gaal. Only now he's established himself in the team.
  2. Rojo - everyone wanted him sold until this year where he amazingly turned it around.
  3. Blind - a success under Van Gaal but will never hold a permanent spot under Jose.
  4. Di Maria - worst signing
  5. Falcao - worst loan deal
  6. Schneiderlin - hardly played
  7. Depay - huge flop
  8. Schweinsteiger - another flop
  9. Martial - brilliant first season but struggling now
  10. Darmian - playing well after 2 years
  11. Shaw - has hardly played in 3 years
  12. Romero - top 2nd keeper
  13. Valdes - played one or two cup games before fallout with Van Gaal.
If we take our best XI this year based on performance, only Rojo, Blind and Herrera will be in it. This is out of 11 outfield signings. He also sold Chicharito, Keane and Van Persie for good measure.

Although I like Mata he was never the right signing for us, just Fellaini wasnt either, truly awful window from Moyes. But Van Gaal I think was even worse, he has been a top top manager yet he spent millions on mainly average players, over played youngsters, criminally misused DiMaria who was excellent at first in a midfield three with Blind and Herrera, gets injured Blind is then moved to centre back where for me he is poor, DiMaria was moved outwide where he wasnt anywhere near as effective, though he failed to settle anyway. Martial and Shaw were two quality signings but havent worked out so well this season, Martial is a striker though like Rashford, stop playing him out wide! We have a good and big squad, I think we have a few very promising youngsters in Mensah, Tuanzabe, Rashford and I think Perreira too. I think Mourinhos window was by far the best, at the same time though we actually need the squad to be smaller but far more quality in the first eleven and lets not forget for different reasons just how many possible outs there could be DeGea, Shaw, Darmian, Jones, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Fellaini, Carrick, Young, Wilson, Januzaj, Bothwick-Jackson.
I know a lot of people say you cant do too much in one window, now Mourinho has had a look at the squad I really think we WILL sign more than four players, maybe even six or seven and at least that number will leave too. If I were to guess I see 5-6 in and 6-7 out

In :

Oblak 40M
Keane 25M
Fabinho 50M
Bale 60M
Griezmann 100M

Out :

De Gea 60M
Jones 10M
Rooney free
Zlatan free
Januzaj free
Shaw 20M
Darmian 10M

I see a lot of people say Keane.....I've watched him a number of times and he seemed to me to be more of a Shawcross level player who has done well in a defensive team

We should be looking for centre backs who are at the level or should reach the level of Stam, Vidic or Ferdinand.....

we made a mistake in selling Jonny Evans given the injury records of Smalling/Jones and I think Keane would go into the category of these players as depth...I suppose LVG really shouldn't have given Keane the boot either but I suppose he had intentions of Blind as a CB

Just not convinced Keane is the answer - in fairness I haven't watched him extensively

Greizmann,Aurier,Mendy,Fabinho/Silva(unless people actually think were getting 3 players from Monaco lmfao)

Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael, with a Splinter thrown in as part of the coaching team.

But in all seriousness, I think that the James rumours seem to be true, and as much as I think that we could do better, I will trust Jose's judgement on that one if it comes true. I still hope that Griezmann comes though, especially if Rooney and Zlatan are not around next season.

As such, I think the following players will come in:

1. James
2. Griezmann
3. Fabinho
4. A CB (I really can't think of an experienced CB, 27 to 31 years old, with quality and will want to join us/club willing to sell though)

Notable Ifs: a new LB if Shaw has lost all of Jose's confidence, a new GK if DDG leaves, though I like the look of Joel Pereira and think that he could turn out to be a great keeper in the mould of Van der Sar. A striker if Jose thinks Rashford is not ready to lead the line, maybe someone like Belotti, Morata or Lukaku, though I have a feeling that we will rely on Martial and Rashford to lead the line, and we might offer Zlatan our facilities to train while out of contract and sign him up again sometime in December on another short-term contract once he regains fitness.

I can't see more than 6 signings coming in, and at the very most 7 signings with Jose perhaps getting a older, cheaper player to serve as backup and source of experience for the squad. For those leaving, I would say not much, maybe 3 or 4 from the current first team. Rooney, one of the English CBs and perhaps Ashley Young who wants more regular football.

N.B. I doubt Atletico would sell United two top players without trying to screw them into paying ridiculously over the top fees.
One player I would like United to sign is Van Dijk, although it looks unlikely. He could form a great CB partnership with Bailly. I also wonder if Mourinho is contemplating offering Terry a short-term deal, although whether he would come to OT anyway is another matter.
The biggest, and most obvious caveat though to this summer's deals is whether United win the EL or not. There is most likely two lists of players being targeted depending on whether it's EL or CL football next season.

Keane is much better on the ball then Shawcross. I think under Mourinho he would improve even more.

who would you be looking at ? Vidic was hardly a big name when we signed him,

this is what I think we will buy
Keane
James
Griezmann
Fabinho.
and I would be happy

this is what I really want
Varane
Griezmann
Aubameyang
Tielemans or Weigl (I know he is injured)

I've no idea but that's were the scouts come in.....

the individuals who identified Bailly have shown superb judgement as he looks a brilliant player and prospect....

From what I've seen Keane doesn't seem to be in the same class bracket as Bailly.

Some of the signings from nowhere over the last few years (Mahrez/Kante/Bailly/Delle Ali) show you don't have to offer 60 million for a Varane or Marquinhos

In - Bernardo Silva, Keane, Matuidi, Griezmann, Handanovic
Out - DDG, Smalling, Martial, Rooney, Shaw

--------------Handanovic
Valencia---Bailly---Keane---Rojo
-------Matuidi-------Herrera-----
Rashford-----Pogba------B.Silva
------------Greizmann------------

Definitely coming: At least one striker (hopefully Griezmann and/or Morata), Replacement for Carrick (no idea who)

I could see us buying: right back, centre back (due to the injuries)

Question would you consider this a good window if Greizmann or Bale along with Perisic & M Keane where the ones to arrive. Rooney, Shaw, Darmian & Fellaini where the ones to leave? I am convinced this is what will happen..

No, we'd be losing 2 fullbacks and a CM.

Jeez, how much money do you think we have in the kitty?

James = 60million if reports are believed. Griezmann is 80 million clause. and POOF. There goes our budget. So where is the money for Fabinho and Keane coming from? China? Rooney?

For those saying M.Keane.
This is the same player who was with us for several years and got loaned out to many clubs. Eventually Burnley agreed to buy him because a better club would not bite.
Is this the player we are talking about?
If so, we already have Smalling and Jones who are both superior to M.Keane.

Why do fans want a defender of such low ability?
And unlike Baily/Vidic, M.Keane is not a hidden gem. Everybody knows how good/bad he is.

This strikes me as the "we must buy Ron Vlaar" signing. This player was so bad, he was released by Villa, who in turn were so ridiculously bad, their players were relieved to get relegated. Basically, that Villa side was probably worse than Sunderland.

Guys, we need to think bigger. We shouldn't be focusing on players who battling relegation or heading for the Championship.

Oblak is in the list in the case of if madrid do go for De Gea and whatever we get for him would be more than what would be spent on Oblak. This also is a less crazy list than the ones I have seen. We also sold a few players and got players off the wage bill that's counts for a lot.

Belotti 40mil
James anything more than 45-50 is crazy
Fabinho 30 mil
Keane 25
If David leaves it will be for around 40-50 that's my guess so Oblak 30. That puts the net spend at less than 200 mil.

I don't think we have a fixed budget. If we win the Europa, the prize money and qualifying for UCL next season is already worth close to 40m Euros. Add in the Depay and Schneiderlin sales, I would say that we can spend up to 200m Euros comfortably. Even if it is too much, Woodward will just remind Jose that he will need to balance it out a little by making sure he does not spend in the winter transfer window, or to sell the fringe players like Januzaj to generate more fund. In fact, I won't be surprised if our total spending, before we consider player sales, to cross the 200m Euro mark. Jose already said many times we want quality, not quantity, and if you want quality, you just have to pay and there is no way around that.

Probably desperation at having perma-crocks Jones and Smalling stealing a living. I'd actually prefer a cone at this point, at least it would make it to the pitch come kick off.

I just want bale, I can't believe people still dont rate him. He is immense. Would be amazing to see another British player tearing down the wings and banging in crosses

I think if he wasn't injury prone everyone would want him, we can't spend 80+ mil on someone who spends so much time on the treatment table.

Is Griezmann a proper striker? What I mean by that is he able to lead the line by himself, or does he usually play with another striker ahead of him?
