Mykhaylo Mudryk

what's brilliant about this is that Mudryk was all about Arsenal and even commented on how he couldn't turn down Arsenal b/c of how much he admired that club....now he's at Chelsea

It’s a strange one

Wasn’t he pictured in an Arsenal top?

I don't blame him, a professional footballer is about to move to the Premier League on big money. You'd be excited about a bunch of clubs coming in for you.

Arsenal were stingy cnuts over a few mil, what can he do? Awkward, but more so for Arsenal, as everyone thought he was practically theirs.

Yeah it's weird, but the desire to play for Arsenal in the first place was weird but I guess they're currently top of the league and it appears to be an exciting time for the club but now he's gone to Chelsea it's obvious he really didn't care where he went. A bit like Enzo Fernandez seemingly wanting the move to Chelsea when in the summer he'd likely have way more suitors, these players just want to play in the PL and they don't care what club it is. Can probably throw Gakpo into that as well as everything we read he had eyes for us and now he's at Liverpool

Its great him watching Arsenal all this time to try force it and he goes to Chelsea

Chelsea is really playing FM in real life. Completely baffling decisions these past couple of seasons.

Like Shaw was openly celebrating Chelsea goals less than a year before joining you. Harry Kane was at the Arsenal "invincibles" bus parade as a kid.

A player being a fan of one club then joining the other is hardly an unprecedented situation.

I mean that wasn't the reason.

His wages at Chelsea are apparently double what we agreed with him...

I don't blame the club for not matching it. If Chelsea want to throw money at him, go ahead.

What? this was a player openly saying he wanted to move to Arsenal a few days ago and pictured in an Arsenal kit.

And you’re comparing that to a teenage Shaw and Kane.

Come on

You cou'dve wrapped up the deal long ago, you tried to hardball Shakhtar which left the door open for Chelsea to swoop in because of injuries and Joao madness.

Point Is, if he's performing on the pitch he could have a Tottenham shrine in his basement for all I'd care.

Can see both sides. Fans just want clubs to go in, pay the fee that's asked, and walk out with the player.

Unfortunately for a lot of teams it's not as simple as that. Buying clubs will have their own valuation and won't want to stretch that too much.

Even City walk away from deals if they feel they are getting done over. It's frustrating for us fans that just want shiny new toys, but well run clubs generally buy to a strategy. The problem is when owners like Chelsea just buy to we'll pay what it takes strategy, then it's hard to compete against that.

SSN reports £88.5m fee. Pretty much €100m. After the £98m on Lukaku Chelsea haven’t half spent some money lately.

Most expensive transfer of the season just ahead of Nunez at £85m and Antony at £84m.

It is €70m base plus €30m in achievable bonuses

Those bonuses are tied to Chelsea winning the PL and CL so if that happens Shakhtar are more than welcome to the extra £20m.

I have no problem Edu walked away from 70m + 30m add on. Every club has a budget to work with. Just move on and see if there is other alternatives in the market.

Apparently Arsenal offered the same bonuses but Shakhtar felt Chelsea winning the CL was more realistic than Arsenal, despite not even being in the competition next season.

No chance that’s true

That’s if you ignore the fact that Mudryk’s fee is made up of over £20m of add ons, whereas Antony’s is the guaranteed fee. Same for Nunez’s fee too.

Assuming the add-ons run all the way through the contract and don't have a fixed time limit, there's also more chances of triggering the criteria with an 8,5 year contract than there would be with a normal 5 year deal so in Shakhtar's eyes our offer might have appeared more tempting?

Either way our offer was seemingly €5M higher than Arsenal's so there's that too.

It doesn't matter at this stage and from Shahtkar's point of view Chelsea is definitely a club more easy to deal with. Chelsea met the asking price and closed the deal within a week. No dragging or back and forth.

It will be interesting to see the development of two wingers Antony vs Mudryk. Both similar transfers while both are not proven to be half worth it coming from smaller leagues.
Short term i am happy for him not choosing Arsenal as already a high flying side in PL this season, only a injury scare to their key players could bring them down. Long term Chelsea have a wealth of attacking options for next year which looks scary.

Sorry, that was badly phrased by me. I meant €30m if the bonuses are achieved

Chelsea are crazy for this. Do they even need him?

100m for this guy is absolutely ridiculous. Football has gone crazy. 100m is the new 30m.
