Anyone watched this guy play?

It looks like he has been lighting up the Ukrainian league this season (which isn't saying much).

We were accredited with an interest prior to the season starting and now it seems that we've officially put in a bid in for him. Shakhtar are playing hardball though which is to be expected.

Whilst he looks like he should be in a late 90's boy band he seems to be an entertaining player - quick, good control, good dribbler, solid finisher, is really direct with his dribbling and loves to take players on. He reminds me of Martinelli.

Hoping for someone who has more of an idea to provide a rundown of his ability, and pro's/con's, etc

Yeah, couples time for Shaktar, then watched the Ukraine playoffs for the World cup closely.

He's lightning fast, faster than Martinelli in a straight line but not quite as elite laterally or at what hockey scouts call "compete level" which is sort of just workrate/effort but it's also how hard and quickly you make the 2nd run in behind when the first is blocked.

Still pretty raw when he's not on the break cooking RBs. Good shot. Not totally dissimilar from Garnacho really, just a few years ahead and even faster, like Gareth Bale but at 90% and no signs he's going to become a physical forward like Bale did, which was sort of predictable in that he was a LB when younger and he was 6'1 and built like a 9 and not 5'9 and built like a winger like Mudryk.

Little bit of discussion about him here. Think he’d be a top signing for Arsenal personally. I’d worry much more about Dalot defending against him than Gakpo.

Looked bloody good in the CL, not sure how Arsenal will justify the price Shaktar want, but looks extremely talented.

Is that a good or bad thing? His time at United was before I started to follow the sport.

kanchelskis was superb, when him and giggs were on the wings for United, he was the better winger for me. Two footed great shot scored goals and ran defenders ragged. Mudryk will be an absolute flier. The fee is high and he’s arguably not what we need right now but what an exciting signing he’d be.

Think he's a good player but I'm not sure how he will do in tight spaces. He seems fantastic when running into space. Mind you I'm only observing this from his game against Madrid. I don't think he's necessarily a first team player if he joins Arsenal but gives them depth if either Saka / Martinelli are injured.

Seen Mudryk a couple of times in the Champions League. He does look good, absolutely rapid. Another left winger so can't see a place for him at United, but whatever team does end up signing him will get a very talented player.

He’s probably a similar level to Martinelli

Heard great things about him from here only. Hope he isn't better than what we have

Just watched him in the UCL and he was electric. Much more worried about him than Gakpo.

Saw him in the Champions league v Celtic, flying machine. Not sure how much he does defensively but very dangerous on the counter.

From what I've seen, he'll just be someone to compete with Martinelli and push each other on? Good for depth but I feel like Arsenal could do with some starter improvements before they make big signings like Mudryk to essentially replace ESR as a depth player.

Martinelli is one of the best young players in PL. Unless he is moved as a striker, what's the need to spend 60m on this guy ? Strange !

From what i understand we plan to have atleast 3 good wingers as wingers are essential in how we play as fullbacks rarely overlap. Viera can also play there if required as can Nelson. But the 4th choice would be ESR (when fit). And I have a strong feeling ESR can be moved centrally aswell.

After this the other players that we require are
DM (will replace Elneny in the summer)
LCB (backup for Gabriel)
I think both will be addressed in Summer.

We already have 2 player Jesus and Nketieh for the CF position (even Balogun). So there is no space for a dedicated number 9. Although we can still have one more who could cover both CF/RF. But the RW/RF market is pretty insane currently so difficult to find anyone good.

They are owned by a Walmart heir, tbf. Those guys are swimming in money.

The bastard!

Not too sure myself, it seems like a perceived depth issue.

For wide options we really only have Martinelli, Saka, ESR, Vieira and Nelson. ESR and Vieira can play centrally, and Martinelli could potentially play up top too.

But of those five only three have proven themselves and one of those three has been battling with injuries all season.

Nelson has had injury issues of his own and Vieira is not up to the physicality of the league as yet. Nelson will likely be moved on at season's end too.

My main question in relation to squad building is that both ESR and Martinelli have proven that they are quality options on the left, but that also seems to be where Mudryk plays too. Can he play on the right?

No he can't.

Depends if his agents are similar too ;)

As a player, one of the best wingers we have had. Was better than a few good ones before him, only not completely raved about as Beckham and ROnaldo followed him.....but way way better than any we have had since Ronaldo.

They are asking for crazy money. No way we pay 85 million for him, surely?

I don't like the idea of players holding out or making it difficult for their current clubs so they can push for a move. It seems that he's already made a few posts showing that he's been watching out games, so I wonder if he's going to kick up a stink.

Every decent player is worth close to 100m now. Clubs really are taking the piss.

At max a 50m player. I don't see Arsenal overpaying after the consequence of a signing like Pepe.

It's ridiculous. They referenced City's deal for Grealish as some kind of benchmark.

Seems like we've put in an improved offer, so hopefully they accept that. Otherwise I fear the Chavs will swoop in and sign him, and it will turn out to be another Hazard situation.

I imagine it would be 50 + some heavy incentives.
My guess is both clubs can't agree the fee and no deal in the end. The difference in valuation is just too big. Grealish and Antony transfer fee are used as reference and Arsenal will not go that far.

If anything clubs should be reluctant to spend as much because of the Sancho/Grealish transfer as even players playing in good leagues do not come with any guarantees. But it seems to be going the other way with prices rising further.

To be fair, he's their biggest talent in a decade and arguably Ukraine's. They've sold lesser talents for big money to the prem - Fred, Fernandinho and others to other leagues - Teixeira, Costa.

As someone who only has a passing knowledge of the player, if he’s this so-called wonderkind how come Arsenal are the only ones in for him?

Couple of things probably. He's made it quite clear Arsenal are his first choice and I think a lot of people would be in for him if the price was lower. I think the reports are just focussed on arsenal because of that first point.
