Besides, I wasn't actually saying Warne was any harder or easier to read than Murali. There's little to choose between them - except on grounds of fair play.
If Warne hadn't lost all that time through injury and the ban though, his figures would be unbeatable. He had to totally change his style after his injuries, tribute to his strength of character and intelligent, canny cricketing mind that he emerged pretty much as good a bowler, in a different way. Incredible player.

saw Hampshire play when they last came to Gloucestershire...everyone was there to see Warne to be honest.

I have nothing against him personally or against Sri Lanka but as Plech points out he just runs in and chucks it. Just because a rule change and weeks of remedial training can get him within the rules a few times under test conditions in no way disguises that during games his arm is bent far far more than can be explained by his wonky arm.

What if a majority of the bowlers in international cricket regularly chucked according to old standards, and all did occasionally. And the old standard was basically unrealistic and rubbish and the new one made sense. And it was changed to accomodate most of the bowlers out there because the previous norms were not only unrealistic but consistantly crossed by everyone. What if that were the case?

How does straightening the arm help a wrist spinner? Even if he does chuck what use would it be to his doostra? Doosra is bowled using his wrist and fingers and how does bending of the elbow help it?
If he were from England or Australia he would have never been called in the first place, Lee and Mcgrath were said to be bowling with elbow flexions of around 15 degrees which is similar to what Murali bowls.
Elbow straightening gives extra whip on most deliveries which increses spin. His doosra is so illegal it isn't funny. His elbow is almost at 45 degrees FFS.

Amol can feck off with his anti-Warne campaign though. He absolutely ripped through the Sri Lankans and bowled well in Pakistan. Just because you cnuts managed to stop being rubbish long enough to make him look ordinary, which, while admittedly being the only reason I consider Murali better than him, doesn't mean that he's anything other than one of the greatest bowlers we're ever likely to see.
I was going to provide Qadir's and other wrist spinners' stats against India and frame an arguement about wrist spinners being more successful on hard, dry surfaces, but the absolute dearth of any other decent wrist spinners who've played many matches against India after 1960, and Murali fecking being one of those rare ones, put paid to that.
