Muralitharan best bowler ever?

*ps murali is the one who bowled out Englands best batter "Pierson" in world cup 2007 super8.
Surely theres a better way to describle him.

As for the question, its about the chucking. If you dont consider that hes easily one of the best spinners ever, probably better than Warne. Then again i havent studied their careers that closely and wouldnt know who has performed better against the bigger teams.

yes .. he's the best bowler ever ..
warne isnt bad either

You wouldn't be suggesting the c word would you Plech. And I don't mean "Cheat".

Although .......... ;)

does his chucking help him spin the ball? I always thought chucking was just used to gain extra pace. What's the whole deal with his action?

Quality bowler but the amount of wickets he takes with the doosra is unfair,it's a terrible delivery and to me warne will allways be the better bowler as his action is a treat on the eye and fair. Also im english the amount of pain warne and the aussies have inflicted on my team would never cloud my judgement on what a great bowler he is.The best spin bowler and perhaps overall bowler to ever grace the game of cricket.

feck knows, you can only compare him to other spinners and I wasn't around to see Grimmet, O'Reilly, Laker, Gibbs, Bedi, Qadir and co.

Fairly near unplayable on a good day. IMO Warne, as great as he is, could only match a fully-firing Murali during his 93-95 period. The shoulder and finger operations took their toll, even though he eventually overhauled his game and re-emerged as the second best bowler in the world*. He was also rubbish against the Indians.

And I fecking love Warne.

*Admittedly the stats show he's been at his best in the last few years but I'm going with what I saw with my own eyes. In the early years, the bloke was just fecking mercurial. Biggest leg break I've ever seen coupled with top spinners, zooters and a flipper that came off the pitch like a badger with a fire-cracker up its arse.

Biomechanical tests were performed on Murali to find out if he really "chucked". The final conclusion was that he bent his arm too much for it to be called bowling. But the tests on the other bowlers showed that 90% of the bowlers in the Cricket World Cup chucked too. So the ICC extended the rules.

Conclusion: Murali bowls just as the other bowlers do. Legit and fair. Also research on his body shows that his limbs are different in the arm. Because of this he is able to spin the ball like he does.

If thats true and it probably is, then yes the best spinner i've seen and one of the best bowlers ever. Hes going to smash every single record there is. MR pointed out the important different IMO between him and Warne, which is that the latter always got absolutely battered by us, who are supposed to be the best players of spin. Whereas Murli even caused Sachin a few problems and i dont remember us ever taking him apart. Infact i think he actually took 7 against us once?

remember India V lanka in WC 99

where ganguly scored 183 and dravid 153 (not sure)
but warne was easier to play against .. more so in tests because many just kicked the ball with the pads, cant do that with murli

Warne we just took apart. Didnt Murli take 7 against us, when we got bowled out for under 70 or something, i think 54 maybe.

54 ,sarjah :(
pakistan players are good players of spin too , and kumble took 10 in an innings against them .. doesnt make him the best ..
that 7 wickets are not that important .. but he is a better bowler than warne IMO .
But then again warne might have been better if Australian wickets favored the spinners

He clearly straightens his arm. He's got an action that incorporates a proper action, but on release he spins the ball by just using his wrist. Difficult to explain but I know what I'm trying to say. And that's all that matters. As for Warne, he's always had a round arm action, more so than leg spinners from other parts of the world. Qadir, Kumble, Mushtaq to name a few, could bowl with a more perpendicular action. . . Warne's round arm is probably the reason why he's never had a googly.
