Muppet Watch 2013 Edition

Out:
Ando
Rooney
Nani
Scholes
Fletcher

In
Ronaldo :) (Not really but I can dream)
Wanayama
Lewandowski
Tiote
Michu :) (Not really but I can dream)

I quite like Lars and Sven Bender, one of those two would be a good buy for us a i reckon. Perhaps Lars is the more 'gettable' of the two.

Anyways, a muppet thread

I've said a few times, but my overwhelming #1 muppet target would be Thiago Alcantara. I'm a huge fan of his, and would love to see him in the centre alongside Carrick.

After that, a midfielder with some defensive nous who is reasonably comfortable on the ball, perhaps Matic. I'd be extremely happy with this summer's work, and if of course, there was any opportunity to get Gareth Bale, then that would just be taking the piss.

With departures of Scholes, Nani and Anderson too I'd imagine. Would give us midfield options of :

Carrick
Matic
Thiago
Cleverley
Powell
A bunch of defenders/wingers/strikers

That's good enough for me. Obligatory muppet formations:

------------------------Carrick-------Thiago----------------------

--Only God Knows---------Rooney-------------------Kagawa---

--------------------------v.Persie------------------------------

Cleverley can then cover for Thiago, with Matic competing with Carrick. Should we get Bale, I'd imagine it would be at the expense of Rooney, so he'll play there. #Treble

Michu could fill your only god knows.......and loving your signings.

I'd like some young English talent to come in. The likes of Will Hughes and James Ward Prowse or such like. Luke Shaw looks exciting too but 4 left backs might be over kill!

It's kind of sad that there are so few British or Irish players that I would like us to sign. Bale and Zaha aside, I can't think of many we should go for.

Cheers.

As for Michu, I always think it's good to see some players in their second season just to be sure. He does look a player though.

I imagine my 'only God knows' spot would be filled by a combo of Valencia, Zaha and Welbeck.

Only Gundogan, Wilshere and Alcantara interest me. That is of players who are vaguely gettable.

Gill as Officially opened Muppet Season

Manchester United's outgoing chief executive David Gill says Sir Alex Ferguson will be backed in the transfer market this summer to continue their Premier League dominance.

United landed Robin van Persie for £24m last summer and it paid off, with the former Arsenal man firing his side to a record 20th title.

Gill is leaving his post in the summer and will be replaced by Ed Woodward, but the United chief says he will leave a club that is already planning for the next title.

"I'm sure all the clubs who missed out this season will be doing business in the summer - as we will be - with a view to come back all guns blazing next year," he said.

United have been linked with a whole host of stars when the window opens and they have already signed Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha for a fee that could rise to £15m.

The likes of Radamel Falcao and Robert Lewandowski have been mooted though, with Wayne Rooney's future open to question.

:drool::drool: A nice goodbye present please Gilly!

That line up would be ... unstoppable !

Goalkeeper: De Gea #1, Lindegaard #2, sorted here.

Central Defense: Rio hopefully signs a years extension so there is no need to buy here, Garay is probably just pimping himself.

Fullback's: Rafael and Fabio for the RB spot, Evra and Buttner for the LB spot, Jones, Smalling and Evan in the "Can do a job" category. No need to buy here.

Midfield:
I'd love to see 2 CM's brought in and I think Scholes will retire and Anderson will be sold. However I think Fletcher will give it another season, Carrick and Cleverley will be our 2 main CM's and Rooney and Jones will be in the "Can do a job" category with Giggs used against very weak teams in home games.

Wings: Nani will go but sadly Zaha will be his replacement, there wont be any Bale or Rodriguez. That will still leave us 6 options in Valencia, Zaha, Young, Welbeck, Giggs and Kagawa for the wide areas

Strikers:
Unless Rooney goes I can't see any buys here, if he does I imagine it will be Lewandowski rather than Falcao.

The way Fergie talked about Gill the other day I figured he was staying until after transfer deadline day, guess not.

One of Gundogan, Thiago, Modric, Moutinho, Cabaye. Even Fabregas if I go full muppet.
One of Lars Bender, Vidal, Matic, Strootman, Wanyama.
One of Isco, Bale, Rodriguez, Draxler.

Listed in the order I'd prefer them.

I can see us going after a CM target early this summer. Not kidding either.

Muppet mode would be a world class centre mid, and a world class winger. Thats all we need really.

So Gotze has signed with Bayern which raises the question, "Just what exactly are Gill and SAF waiting for? Why are they so slow in the transfer market? Once again their fiddling around has made us miss out on a target who had said he only wanted to play for United even if that isn't what he actually said.

AmIdoingitright?

2 Midfielders, Winger and a Striker.

For me:

Gundogan
Thiago
Rodriguez
Lewandowski.

Absolutely not realistic at all, but who cares.

Welbeck is not a wide player.
