Well, who wouldn't like seeing Vidic, Rio, and Evra kissing the Big Ear for the last time in red shirts? Just imagining it almost bring tears.
We had less possession, less attempts, and less passes than them. We may have been better, but we didn't "outplay" them. It was a relatively even game all in all.
This doesn't change anything. He still needs to be sacked.
Even death did not want to give him a break.
Yes because beating olympiacos is the same thing as beating Barcelona...jaysus can we let the sack talk die for one night? Felt awesome to rekindle the spirit of what our boys did against Barcelona at OT 30 years ago. Funnily enough, RVP's pen was around the same time we scored our first goal against Barca that night. Football bloody hell
but for fecks sake mate i'm not even putting it on that kind of level. Of course you expect to win these games. We almost got knocked out but they were not clinical. Still and yet, it was an enjoyable game and for the first 60 or so minutes a solid team performance. I had my gripes from tactical standpoint and other things but it was just nice to see players putting in a lot of effort and for moyes too.Yes because beating olympiacos is the same thing as beating Barcelona...
Great come back or whatever, but they're a shit team, it's on par with coming back to win against a relegation candidate like we did with stoke earlier in the season. You expect to win these games by this score line, just not lose the first game.
True. I'm delighted we finally had a good night where we had an important win, not just a win against west brom or crystal palace that doesn't really do anything. I'm just saying people shouldn't get too carried away. We're in the quarter finals and a lot depends on who we draw. Whatever happens my opinion on the manager is the same, and he should still go, but yeah I'm happy for him. You could tell how happy he was at the second goal.but for fecks sake mate i'm not even putting it on that kind of level. Of course you expect to win these games. I dont think he should be here much longer but on a human level, I sympathise with him. For once, he can have a good night's else. Reality will settle in soon but considering how shite we've been i'm trying to enjoy what little bits of quality and good football we see

i dont think anyone is getting carried away. football is a funny game though. i didnt expect that performance although i was hoping for one but the moments this game gives you is really really special. pretty soon my head will come to roost and tell me how much i'm overreacting but i was over the moon when RVP struck the third. just feels good to enjoy a moment like this. because we got west ham and city coming up and who knows where we'll be by thenTrue. The sad thing is that our bar is pretty low nowadays.
We beat Olympic-fecking-Kos and not Bayern Munich. Twelve months ago we would not even have blinked an eye lash winning at home to the champions of the Greek Super-League.
Now I'm aware that we are even worse domestically and as erratic as any team could get. We are being managed by a man who, as nice a fella as he seems, seems completely overwhelmed by the task at hand. We have gaps and holes everywhere and are relying on a 40 year old god to drag us through glorious midweek matches.
What the feck are you talking about? They've just won their domestic league. In March.
They also qualified from their group ahead of Benfica (who've just schooled Spurs at White Hart Lane last week) and just behind PSG, a team who many rank as the 3rd/4th best team in Europe at present.
Cut the fúcking bullshit. Tonight was a marvellous result. To know you need to win 3-0 in order to progress and then going ahead and achieving it is no mean feat.
Give the man some due.
Moyes has yet to address the holes in our team. He deserve the opportunity to at least replace the aging and inefficient players he was given. Moyes was given a team that needed immediate changes and he failed to do that last summer and winter due to circumstances like not having the right players available and/or wanting to analyze the type of players he had. Come this summer, I would believe he would make these quality addition and things will be much better.
Even though I despise his philosophy, he has the correct work ethic and passion for a United manager.
I have to be honest, I didn't bother waking up for it in the first half after seeing the lineup ( the match was at 3am here). Then got up in the second half to check the scores when I needed to go to the toilet. Ended up watching the second half, but I honestly didn't have any emotions when rvp scored. Ended up watching that crappy last 20 minutes as well.
I honestly hate moyes after the season he's put us through.
We only won the league comfortably because the others were so poor. Do you honestly think that players go on performing at the same level for ever? Far more experienced and qualified people than you or I - and probably anyone on here - have recognised that Moyes was handed a squad that had given all it had to give and now needed major surgery. That will happen in the Summer. If there's no improvement in both performances and results by December I'll join those calling for Moyes to go, but not until then.He was given a squad that while far from perfect it has won the league comfortably. After taking the CHAMPIONS and spending more then 60M we're still 7th.
You sound more like you've fallen out of love with football.

In my view 3rd or 4th was always an unreal expectation. There's no excuse for us being 7th. You'd have had a point if we were 3rd or 4th, but 7th is absolutely abysmal and Moyes has to take the blame for it more than anyone else.
1st to 7th... We could have sold van Persie and Carrick before the season and I still would've expected more than 7th.
Then allow me to join the crowd:In my view 3rd or 4th was always an unreal expectation.

For a team that won the league and was bolstered with two multimillion signings? In my view 3rd or 4th was always an unreal expectation.

These fecking players cannot give Moyes the football he wants. He's done tremendously well, players have been letting him down.Just give up, he's one of the remaining die hard moyes can do no wrong brigade. Even Rpitoda has mellowed down lately
Fergie said he left the club in a great place with a fantastic mix of youth and experience. Was he wrong? We only won the league comfortably because the others were so poor. Do you think he left the 7th/8th best team in the country?Yes he was.No doubt it's what he wanted ,but i don't think he left the club as he really wanted it.
I believe his retirement came around quicker than he thought. As a result I agree that I don't think he left the club exactly the way he wanted. However, I still feel he left the club in a good place, league winners with good mix of youth and experience, add to that a very promising youth team. The squad is nowhere near as bad as some are making out, It's a better squad than Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and possibly Chelsea, City being the only exception.Yes he was.No doubt it's what he wanted ,but i don't think he left the club as he really wanted it.
