Time to call it quits @haram .. when a poster like @Wumminator looks like nostradamus with his foresight compared to you .. you know you've had a mare. Quit the Mourinho fanboying and press the reset button. There' a decent poster in you.

Comments Jose made 14 years ago have come to bite him in the ass.

@haram You seem to be defending mourinho and so clearly trust him, Do you really see him improving us?

I want him gone as i don't see him getting any better, he has spent 300mn and yet every time he sees a half decent team he has us defend like we are stoke. He wants SMS, another mf or 2, cb and may be a lb next season which will see him spend atleast another 200-250mn. Yet the minute we will face a decent team he will revert to his disgusting anti football. I don't require to us to play klopp or guardiola footy but if we are going to give a manager 500mn i expect him to play decent football and try to win every game possible.

Mourinho i know for sure will have atleast 2-3 games every season where he will just look to defend and get a draw with no attempt made to even try to win. Last season it was Arsenal home and City away, this season Liverpool and Sevilla away and we may see similar stuff against City in a few weeks. Those addition 200mn will see us get better results but will the football improve? More importantly will his own attitude to go defensive change? I don't think it can.

We might win a trophy this season most likely even next season if he stays but do those trophies mean anything? Give any top manager 500mn to spend and he will win something but when you are spending that sort of money there has to be some substance to our football.

Yes, he will improve us. I have seen improvements in our team already as I have stated before.

It’s not fanboying. I am just patient. I could have just called the likes of Lingard and Mata shit when everyone else did but I can see where we are going. When people got on my back for claiming Mourinho knew what he was doing to play Mata on the right and that it provided balance. When I was defensive on Lingard after the Huddersfield match and his approach to football. Both of these players showed their quality after that. Mourinho knows what he is doing.

He made bad mistakes against Sevilla. I get people are emotional and that it was a bad result. It’s the easy way out to just call Mourinho shit after a bad result.

Just had a read through all this stuff from Spanish press, if this doesnt get fire in his belly then nothing will.

He's too detached from the club and it's fans - those comments exemplify this.

Not calling for his head but I don't think I would care much when he does leave the club. Pretty sure he'll leave with no leagues or CLs too.

That's the sad thing.

He's just not that invested or really passionate to care about it in an inspiring or motivating way. It's just all too professional and one dimensional.

And that completely shows on the pitch. Professional and one dimensional.

I respect the fact that he doesn't 'play to the fans' like some other managers do (insincerely too) but, when things go wrong, this attitude means that Jose can't count on the supporters' affection.

You're expecting too much.

Personally, our manager behaving like 'one of the boys' with his heart on his sleeve like Klopp doesn't make me much of a difference. I'm interested in his work. Rather than emotion I'd rather him bring in excellence. I don't think we play big club football. That's one of our big problems. If we want to reach the top again, we need to start playing football befitting of a top team. It's all well and good getting results a certain way. But the problem is that the same style doesnt translate well in other scenarios when you need it to. If we keep playing individualistic plucky percentage football, I don't think we'll reach a truly dominant level.

In behavioral terms, the one thing I'd like to see him stop doing is distancing himself from the result or performance. He often speaks of the players need to improve or train better or peform better. I'm sorry but no one is interested in a player letting you down. Youre the guy running the team.

The comments were startling to hear, but I think posters on here are confusing his intention. Mourinho's at war with the media, not the fans or the club. One of the announcers in the game screamed that "this is a catastrophe!" and essentially called it the biggest European failure in United's history. That's what his comments were fighting back against.

Well it's always stupid to say such an ambiguous statement to the press.

But it's funny to see how agitated the Spanish media are towards him, He left Spain years ago and They still want him to fail badly .

You can't be a huge club and have an underdog mentality. It's well and good to be tactical vs your Madrids and Barcelonas but you should be playing to the size of the club when facing opponents expected to be beaten. Before someone tells me no club is expected to be beaten, please, yes there are plenty.

The worst thing is this will only motivate him further to win it his way.. and more defensive-orientated football in big games.

Don't want to read so much about it really. Very disappointed with him so un professional looks has no clue what to say, has no courage to come out and say I did something wrong.

If you guys are pissed off at the performance this week, just remember on this day 4 years ago Liverpool came to Old Trafford and beat us 3-0.

Times are much better now, folks.

He's not the players it was his fault, it seems.

‘The double of Ben Yedder has demolished the house of cards that Mourinho has built by squandering nothing more and nothing less than €405m on signings in his two years at the head of the ‘red devils’. Sevilla certified the umpteenth failure of a Mourinho who has lived for 18 years a legend that was built in the press rooms, but that is not supported by any football argument. The only value the Portuguese coach is known for is his verbal incontinence.’

Ouch!

Obviously would love to see a more expansive and confident approach but I can also appreciate good coaching even if it isn't free flowing. The baffling thing for me is that he promotes his brand of football but it's so sterile, I think a bit (or rather a lot) of passion would massively help. It's almost going through the emotions and it shows on the pitch.

If you're going to do something, follow it through and embody it. As you've said and as the press conference today partly confirms, he's distancing himself from expectations and speaks about himself, Utd and the players in almost third person. It's a job and a project he's trying to do professionally, which in some ways is commendable but there's no energy beyond the template. Sometimes you just need plain old enthusiasm to motivate. Football is not a science.

Another really interesting post match interview with Mourinho tonight.

@gif_lord any chance of a clip of the full interview? Was around 10 mins ago on BT sport.

Fully ripped into the players for not doing what he had worked on for the past 2 days. Also accused several of lacking personality and desire.

Singled out Matic for an excellent game and McTominay for showing that personality and desire during a poor game for him.

Buried the players today.
O agree with him that some are hiding.

Seemed pissed. It was cowardly from us again tbh. No caution to the wind, just passing backwards and sidewards when approaching their box and crossing in predictably every now and then.

So he's basically saying his players aren't listening to him (like as if that's not an insult to his management ability). And not just one or two of them.

Well I'll guess we might see if Man Utd are about to become the first club ever to side with their manager over the players.

Can't see it myself.

Tonight was poor but I can't imagine he said anything publicly tonight that he didn't say to them privately after Tuesday

It's not just today, they've been hiding since December when we went through that poor patch.

Took Jose a while but finally he comes out and says it like it is. I back him on this one, about time the players deserved it for the shit they have served up in 2018.

he doesn't mean the back four (unless it's Shaw he's scapegoating again) - Lukaku scored, so that's Lingard, Rashford Mata & Martial then - all of whom, he leaves out & shuffles around even when they are playing decent.

Yeah so he pretty much said what has been said about some of the players ever since the Moyes days and what has been highly underlined in recent days due to Sevilla match but watch him be the cnut here because he dares to speak ill of our players.

His press conferences are the most entertaining aspect of what he brings to the club.

He's an absolute fanny. His ego is so big, it's got its own postcode. It's all about him. It must be like needles in his eyes that this club is bigger than him. He hates any suggestion that his style isnt equipped to how this club is ran.
