Mourinho extends contract to 2020 (option for a further year as standard)

I'm not sure how to feel about this.

I'm not one of those #MourinhoOut crazies, and it's obvious he's the best manager we've had since Ferguson.

Sure, he'll get us results and win trophies - but at the risk of sounding like a right top.red, that's not why I support United. What got me into the club was the magic of our attacking football, something we don't always see under Jose and the oft-defensive style of approaching big games is tangibly different to what I'd hope to see a United team play like.

Still though, I think we need the stability right now and it's good the rumours of him leaving for PSG have well and truly been laid to rest.

Tbf i thought most teams in the past didn't care so much about parking the bus. You have player like best / ronaldo / giggs tearing against second tier defender of the 90s. Compare them to defender of today's epl team where almost every one of them is a multi capped internationals

He has done a solid job so far so it's not undeserved, still a bit worried about the upcoming third year where things never got better for his teams, hope it won't be the case here.

At this rate he is going to break the record for the longest stay at the Lowry.

Bet the Manager of The Lowry is made up.

Can we really just move on from this, seriously. It's getting boring! He's addressed it like a hundred times and it just appears to be an issue to everyone apart from the ones who really matter.

Really happy he's staying. Hope he stays for at least 10 years. Great news!

Fantastic news. Puts rumours to bed that he is potentially jumping ship. And the club aren't leaving themselves open to a huge pay-off should a falling out occur with a Moyes style contract (which it won't of course ;) )

Top week.

Good news for the stability of the club, which is something we've been desperately searching for ever since Fergie retired. Hopefully that will transmit itself to the players on the pitch in the coming seasons.

We're definitely heading in the right direction, even if our consistency at the moment needs some work

Surprised at the low-key reaction by some here. It's a symbolic move as well as an intelligent, practical one. It silences the rumours that Mourinho wants to go to PSG and it adds to the sense of something being built here with Sanchez signing earlier this week. Mourinho gets some financial reward for the good work he has done, we get a bit of added security without committing ourselves to a Moyes-style contract length.

Woody looks super happy, that he can now focus on getting that condom partner for the club.

Money Utd

When i worked abroad 50 percent of my salary is spent on housing.

250k for a year at lowry is a good deal. That's like 2 weeks of mourinho's salary for a housing with 5 star room service. I can live with that. If he bought a house he'd spent that money for maintenance and upkeeping alone, not to mention having to instal securities and probably hire a few helper, and going out for meals

This happened only at Chelsea really. And looking at their managers list since Abramovich took over, he did well to survive as long as he did :D

Brilliant news. Also very smart to not offer a long term contract. I feel he will stay till 2020 and that would be great. Can't see him leaving before winning the PL.

Yes, I agree :D

That ends all the PSG speculation then. It's a good move, it allows Jose to think more long-term and the players know they will have him as a manager for a while more, which gives him more control I reckon.

Here's hoping it all works out in the end
The point about signing players is great. They know who the manager is going to be. Players looking at say Chelsea, now have no idea as I cannot see Conte being there. Great security for the club.

Upping his price for when PSG come calling in May. Good thinking Woody!

Good news this, Jose is doing a good job.

SAF and the Glazers agreed that the manager should be earning more than any player at the club.

Maybe Mourinho needed a wage bump after the Sanchez signing?

Great news either way!

I have no problem with the fact he is staying in a hotel as opposed to a home in Cheshire or even a city centre apartment ala Pep.

It was just a light hearted comment mate. I think we will be able to move on.

The rest of the premier league and Europe, be afraid. Be very afraid. Manchester United is coming back!

I'll only pay any attention to this once we get a video of Jose playing Utd Road on a grand Blüthner and not a moment before.
