Now we need De Gea's contract extension to top it off and then it's been a fantastic January. From excellent news to more excellent ones! These last few days are superp.

So what does this actually change? Other than, presumably, give him a nice little bump in his salary.
Makes me wonder both parties' reasons for opting for such a short extension. Did the club not want to extend him longer or was it his personal preference? So what does this actually change? Other than, presumably, give him a nice little bump in his salary.
Confirms Jose is committed to the club as long as we want him. Gives us more stability both for the existing squad and to attract players this Summer. So what does this actually change? Other than, presumably, give him a nice little bump in his salary.

This is smart move. Things change very fast in football.
Glad that we're locking up our needed personel. Time to do the same with important players whose contracts are starting to run close.
One very optimistic view on it is Jose must have been assured we're willing to spend big in the Summer and he believes we can overhaul City next season and win big trophies.
His original contract was for 3 years so signing a new one for effectively the same period of time at the halfway point of his current deal seems like a pretty logical move for both parties to me.Makes me wonder both parties' reasons for opting for such a short extension. Most likely done to ensure there is no lingering doubt with him entering the final year of his original deal. Otherwise not too long of an extension, ofcourse he probably got a pay hike.
It's a one year extension. The club can decide they don't want to activate the extra year. For someone that attracts top names and brings stability we've actually come out as bandits for not committing longerI'm not sure how to feel about this.
I'm not one of those #MourinhoOut crazies, and it's obvious he's the best manager we've had since Ferguson.
Sure, he'll get us results and win trophies - but at the risk of sounding like a right top.red, that's not why I support United. What got me into the club was the magic of our attacking football, something we don't always see under Jose and the oft-defensive style of approaching big games is tangibly different to what I'd hope to see a United team play like.
Still though, I think we need the stability right now and it's good the rumours of him leaving for PSG have well and truly been laid to rest.
