There's is no chance Liverpool have got the finances to pay £45 net for players this summer without jeapordising the future of the club.

They'd probably have to sell Owen/Gerrard/hyyppia for that and there is no chance that that will happen...it will basically kill the club.

You'll get about £3.5 for those players
Redknapp - out of contract
Diomede - Has played feck all football for 2-3 years (out of contract?) and has been injured for most of the time. Who's gonna pay for him?
Nielsen - you will get feck all for
McAllister - you will get feck all for
Litmanen - posiible a couple of millions, but I won't be surprised if he get a free transfer, seeing as you paid nowt for him
You will no doubt have 20-25 million to spend in the summer, but there is no way you will have 40-50 million to spend. You overspent a few years ago, basically gambled on a now or never scenario, and parts of this spending was covered by loans. Add to that your massive wage bill that you have.

No chance, who says he got £30 million in the first place?
If you guys go for Anelka and Cisse I will be really surprised, for one you seem to go for the cheapo unknown players. Hardly the sign of a team with huge reserves in the bank.
One season of success (ONE BLOODY SEASON!) and the scousers are acting like they are the best team in the world, both on the pitch and off it.
You are not Real Madrid.
Maybe he has enough for Cisse, but not both and certainly he wont be spending £45 million. Any major world class signings are still a few years away from Anfield I reckon.

of course we're going to sign anelka.
GH has been pretty successful with his bargain-hunting, hasn't he? let me see, £4.5M on john arne riise, or a ludicrous £28M on juan sebastien veron?
there is no case for declaring veron anything other than a rip-off for what he's done for you lot....

my gods, you will twist anything to your bizarre point of view won't you? you should change your name to An Extremely Bitter Man.
the point i made was that veron cannot be deemed anything other than a rip-off at £28M - that fee was based on past performances yes, but in terms of whether or not you've had value-for-enormous-money, i don't think that you can make a case.
or can you?

We can't really judgeif he's been value for money before he's done here, can we?
So far he's been average - some superb games, some bad ones, mostly average ones.
BTW, what have I got to be bitter about?

Can you just remind me who paid £28 million for a player that has been pathetic all season. At Anfield earlier in the year, he was taken out of the game by Danny Murphy. And now its all cumulated in his error today.

Fuch off tosser, you know perfectly well that Veron is one of the worlds top 11 players. If Danny Murphy is so good why was so booes off the pitch a few weeks back?
Id hate to see how youse treat your really crap players like Heskey.

Murphy was booed by a minority[/B, who were criticised by the rest of us. It seems like Veron has come in for a bit of stick yesterday on Redcafe.I can think of alot of players that are better than Veron, maybe Zidane,Figo,Vieira,Gerrard

If you would care to read the reports written by ppl at yesterdays game Veron was not booed off. Murphy was booed off by the whole of Anfield in the Southampton match so dont try to bullshit me.
Veron came in for a bit of stick by a few fans who havnt been around long enough to appreciate that winning the league is bloody hard work.
The same people are so lacking in football knowledge that theyll just blamb whoever it was that was most expensive and preferrably foreign. If we had recently signed Giggs or Beckham for their market value they would have gotten it instead. A professional footballer knows this and its water off a ducks back.
So you managed to list 4 player that are better than Veron.
The only players in that list in his postition ar Viera and Gerard. Keane for starters is miles ahead of Gerard but thats another discussion.
Your basically saying that Veron is one of the worlds top 3 in his position. Thank you

Murphy was not booed off by the whole of Anfield, just a very small minority that, as i said, were criticised by the rest of us. As for Veron coming in for a 'bit' of stick, i think you should take a closer look at some of the threads, and in particular the 4 letter expletives used to describe him.
Nextly, Keane better than Gerrard ?!? Dont make me laugh. Stevie is a better passer, striker, header and tackler than Keane is. Dont get me wrong, Keane is a good player, but Gerrard is better.
I could name more players that are better than Veron, but i'm sure you would debate them all. However you cannot deny that Veron has had a poor season, mainly due to the fact that he and Keane cannot play in the same team.

Ask anyone in the world with a bit of football know how, Trappatoni for example and they'll tell you that Keano is the man.
Steven gerard got a few fancy goals last yr and has an inflated status since then. He's just another hustler and bustler in the Dennis Wise mould and tbh i wouldnt swap him for Nicky Butt.
Your point about Veron Keane is a bit silly too as Keane was out yesterday. Veron is struggling with the pace of the English game as do most south americanc when they arrive. Look as Asprilla, Angel, Juninho. Hell get into his stride soon enough and then i hope you have a hat that you can take off.

To suggest that Nicky Butt is better than Stevie and that he's just another Dennis Wise is utter bollocks. Stevie has shown that he is up there with the best in the world, sentiments that have been echoed by alot of world class footballers and highly rated pundits. Stevie has bossed the midfield against Keane on a number of occasions over the past few seasons, and the frightening thing for opposition fans, is the fact that he's only 21/22 and he will become even better.
Heres what Patrick Kluivert had to say about Stevie G.
Gerrard had two good chances for Liverpool and although he didn't score, I was still very impressed by him again. He's got the English fighting spirit but he's also a genuine playmaker with all the tricks. I've played against him three times this season with Barca and Holland and I've no doubt he's now a world-class player

As much as you hate Liverpool and their players, you have to admit that Stevie is a class act.

Murt you show how clueless you are again, Gerrard not simply a hustler and bustler and is nothing like Denis Wise, he's an excellent all round midfield and has the potential to become a truly world class player. His passing ability is supurb he has the ability top make defence splitting pases like the one he did for a certain Danny Murphy when he score against you lot (as well as the many others he has made. Passing, tackling, shooting, crossing and vision he has it all, he just needs experience and perhaps to improve his dribbling.
Stevieboy2k, Veron is a classy player, definetly world class the only problem is he does'nt quite fit in at united perhaps they need to reconsider the structure of the midfield, or perhaps he jsut needs time. Pires was crap during his first season and look what happened to him.
