It will be Arsenal who will pounce if City beat them to Rice.
City have no need to buy Rice when they have Rodri and soon Kovacic (+K. Phillips)

Too much smoke in the media City wants Rice to be just rumours.City have no need to buy Rice when they have Rodri and soon Kovacic (+K. Phillips)
Caicedo can comfortably play alongside Casemiro or in lieu of him. He’s a Quality DM and central midfielder. Would be the most flexible midfielder at the club, should he come here - certainly give us a level of scope we’ve not had in years.Do United need another defensive midfielder when we already have Casemiro? We need someone who would compliment him and play by his side.
He just did mate. You can't guarantee it.
He just did mate.
Did you read the article from the times? Not sure we have the 70-80m it would take unfortunately
Being used to lower the Mount fee.
Well anyone with an ounce of decency in them will be hoping he doesn't at least. And we don't need that kind of headline following the team around going in to next season anyway, to much of a distraction. You can't guarantee it.

Despite popular opinion, i think Caicedo Casemiro pairing would actually be quite offensive in nature. They could easily take turns to bomb forward given their engines.Caicedo can comfortably play alongside Casemiro or in lieu of him. He’s a Quality DM and central midfielder. Would prefer that then look for a cheap option who can progress ball in first phase too
I'm thinking the club feels spending 80-90m on Caicedo now and getting Mount for free next season is better than spending 65m now for Mount. Of course that will alter the spend on other targets now, but may need to spend lesser next season. So we have decided to spend close to £100m for a player who wasn’t the priority in the beginning. Not to mention the tight budget we have. Sounds bullshit to me. I’d love us to sign both Caicedo and Mount though if we could.
Oh and let's get agent Valencia on this case (again, given he's already recommended him to us).

Can actually picture Murtough and Arnold laughing it up over a pint, thinking they've played a blinderIf moving to Caicedo is a bluff, it's the worst bluff ever. Apparently everyone on this forum can see through it, why wouldn't Chelsea?
This is why the potential Rabiot signing was quite important, even if you don't rate him that highly, he's better than Fred/Mctominay/VDB and allows us to offload our midfield deadwood without spending a fortune. Big disappointment if he stays at Juve now.If and a big if we are selling Mctominay, Fred, VDB and aren’t opting for Sabitzer too then we would need 2 midfielders right? Out of curiosity what’s Caicedo’s best position? B2b or DM?

And yet he dreamed of playing for United and Chelsea have no CL. I can't imagine he'd take Chelsea over us.

Personally think Casemiro is better going forward. He has great vision, passing is really good going forward, creative, times his runs into the box really well, strong in the air. Defensively he is a tad bit sluggish and slow, takes just half a second too long with the ball at times and gives away possession. Think a quicker player with good tackling skills like Caicedo would complement Casemiro really well. And probably, as you mentioned, make us more offensive.Despite popular opinion, i think Caicedo Casemiro pairing would actually be quite offensive in nature. If City want Rice he's obviously going to go thereGreat Player.
Wrong profile of Player. I'd rather push hard for Rice instead of him.
This is very different and you know it, did you hear the audio when it came out? Or are you one the mad ones that's just completely dismissing it? Anyway that's the last I'll say on this because it's derailing the thread, but if you seriously cheer for this guy if he does come back (which I maintain he won't) then you have issues my friend.Press won't talk about it as they aren't result allowed.
No different from Paret
Benzema, Ronaldo, Partey have all been accused of similar without charge.
Did you cheer Ronaldo' goals?
I think it's often proven that when you have two CM's who are comfortable on both sides of the ball, they will be bold and will drive up the pitch knowing when and how to cover for one another and being very confident in their abilities should possession be lost. Not dissimilar to high-line CB's who inch further forward than they should because they, more often than not, will get themselves out of any trouble they find themselves in.Despite popular opinion, i think Caicedo Casemiro pairing would actually be quite offensive in nature. They could easily take turns to bomb forward given their engines.

Doesn't this guy fit better as can play 6/8
I'm not sure about that.Great Player.

Mount and Kane next season for free would be fantastic especially if we did pony up the 80/90m for Caicedo.I'm thinking the club feels spending 80-90m on Caicedo now and getting Mount for free next season is better than spending 65m now for Mount. If the above is true, I like that flexible thinking.
I'm not sure about that.
Caicedo strikes me as better technically than Rice and has proven himself in one of the best sides around at playing out from the back. It's hard to say Rice is the player to take our build up to the next level given he plays in a scrappy defensive side who don't have a lot of the ball.
