It's an option to buy rather than a clause. He only leaves if we say so.
I'm still not sure Chelsea ever really wanted him for more than to prick Liverpool about.
Considering how Cuadrado has struggled to settle so far I would suggest that the slow pace can suit fast attacking players there.Perhaps his great start at Fiorentina is more to do with how poor Serie A has become rather than how good Salah really is.

You're right. If Chelsea has the option to say no then it's a meaningless clause.Option to buy usually means that a team who the player is loaned too decides. In this case Fiorentina.
Maybe it's different with Salah.

If I'm not mistaken, it had to do with Mata leaving for United. Mourinho okayed the deal, provided he was getting another attacking midfielder to bolster the squad, so we quickly moved for So alah. It was always a long shot he was going to become a starter for Chelsea and when given a chance, he looked out of his depth. Perhaps his great start at Fiorentina is more to do with how poor Serie A has become rather than how good Salah really is.
Yes, Salah scoring important goals against Spurs and Juventus in vital cup games must mean the Serie A is poor...
Playing as a second striker with freedom to be an all round threat then he becomes an absolute machine. God knows how chelsea let him go without giving him meaningful game time. Madness I'd say.
Who would he have displaced in our team?Playing as a second striker with freedom to be an all round threat then he becomes an absolute machine. God knows how chelsea let him go without giving him meaningful game time. Madness I'd say.
He's burnt prem teams before over and over again he earned his move to chelsea. He has recently given spurs a do over(something he did while at basle too, roasting walker). He was extremely impressive vs chelsea too while at basle. Juve is one of the fittest, most physical teams in the world, gave them a roasting too. I'd say its more a matter of him not getting a solid chance at chelsea than him being poor/average. We've seen with chelsea that they sign players, barely play them and then move them over. Serie A isn't much worse than the prem anyways.shite league as well, i wouldn't read to much into it. When he's burning away from players in the Italian league, safe to say he was matched the majority of times here in the Prem. We're a fit bunch over here and didn't suit his game.
Depends on the set up, reckon he'd be wonderful if chelsea used a diamond, then he'd play as the SS, as hazard plays at the tip of the diamond.Who would he have displaced in our team?
There would be no width at all if we played like you just suggested. It's something we already struggle with at times.Depends on the set up, reckon he'd be wonderful if chelsea used a diamond, then he'd play as the SS, as hazard plays at the tip of the diamond.

Sort out the rest of the team and many teams will be struggling to cope with Chelsea. In the current set up he could have played on the RW but I don't think that'd get the best out of him as the freedom to be an all round nuisance transforms him really, defenders haven't a clue on how to pick him up. Chelsea gets no production from the RW spot and haven't done so the whole season. I'd say its one of the main reasons why your team has looked so stale in attacking terms at times. He carries a goal threat only inferior to Costa in the chelsea team, surely that'd be an asset to the side?

As you say, in an attacking sense we get almost zero production from our right side. Willian has been very important to how José wants to play but does nothing offensively.
I think Cuadrado will become a much more important player for us next season straight away. He'll hopefully offer what we need. It's pretty clear that he needs lots of games to get up to speed with both his teammates and the league itself. When every match is basically a final for us for the remainder of the season José obviously doesn't feel like it's a good idea to have a brand new player in there struggling.
Those 3 players are all very effective in wide areas. Hazards become one of the finest players in the league playing outwide, Salah has played loads outwide and Costa loves to drift into wide areas. For real width(I.e when teams sit compact) you guys have 2 of the very finest offensive fullbacks in world football(Cuadrado and Luis)There would be no width at all if we played like you just suggested. For sure. Easily the player I regret us selling the most. I've said here a number of times that I'd rather have him as our #10 right now than Oscar.Considering Kevin de Bruyne is very productive from the right wing at Wolfsburg (he starts centrally but gives a lot of assists from the right), would you say letting him go was the bigger mistake than Salah's departure to Fiorentina?
I hope you're wrong about Cuadrado. I think if he settles completely and actually get a run of games he can be deadly in our current setup. Pace and trickery on both wings with he and Hazard stretching defenses and with Costa making his usual brilliant runs. Couldn't see anyone in the PL dealing with us if Cuadrado plays like he did at the World Cup and with Hazard constantly improving. Those 3 players are all very effective in wide areas. All offensive threats needed will be covered especially in transition while the link up in terms of forward play will go up a level.
Personally I don't think its going to work out all that well for Cuadrado even next season in the current set up even if played as a RW. I've always felt he works better and is a bigger all round threat when he's on the left drifting in thus creating space for the shot or linking up with the fullback. On the right he's often limited and is only useful when there's a lot of space to work in. He's a line hugger on the right, and even when drifting in centrally isn't all that effective cause he's right footed. In essence I don't think that he'll be that much of an upgrade if used there next season.
Don't think De Bruyne would be all that effective if his starting position was as a right wing. He drifts in there in order to play those killer balls. Its a whole different dimension to get the ball there and being expected to make something happen.Considering Kevin de Bruyne is very productive from the right wing at Wolfsburg (he starts centrally but gives a lot of assists from the right), would you say letting him go was the bigger mistake than Salah's departure to Fiorentina?
Pogba as a 10? Why?I hope you're wrong about Cuadrado. I think if he settles completely and actually get a run of games he can be deadly in our current setup. We just need one or two surgical transfers.
My ideal team for next season would be:
----------Costa----------
Hazard--------------Cuadrado/Willian
----------Pogba----------
----Fabregas------Matić----
Azpi/Luis--Terry--Varane--Ivanovic
-----------Courtois-----------
Don't think Salah is a player we'll miss at all. He'll be a very good player in a lesser league, though.
I was thinking more of a box-to-box in a 4-3-3.Pogba as a 10? Why?
