Any ideas why it seemingly hasn't hit as hard in Eastern Africa? Temperature? Lifestyle? Without meaning to derail this thread too much...
Maybe a combo of temperatures and a relatively young population. Diseases like malaria and chikungunya have been doing ravages before Covid though so maybe that's why its numbers are insignificant here.
You didn't ask me but average age of the population must have a huge impact. Africa is a much younger continent (average age) than any other, by some distance.

Sounds good. Where I currently live (Malaysia), it was relatively under control around May (70+ cases per day). Then, the powers that be made some ridiculous decisions, leaving the country now with 1200+ cases per day and a faltering economy.

Salah got Covid by attending a wedding with a load of other people. Not the best thing to be doing currently.
Not really for this thread, but more sunlight and more time spent outside might be another factor. Vitamine D seems to help the body fight off the virus. And there might be different coronaviruses going on in the wider region that better prepare the immune system for this one.
Leicester have/had a load of injuries of their own and barely a word said about it. 3 of their starting defenders all out (Pereira, Castagne and Soyuncu) and Ndidi infront of them. Schmeichel, Evans and Fofana have all had knocks this week too

Didn't they actually break rules (Grealish a national lockdown and Foden/Greenwood at least team protocol while on duty)? I'm clueless about the current situation in Egypt, but the fact that the wedding could go through would probably mean that it was legal, hence Salah, apart from doing an incredibly stupid and ill-considered thing, didn't do anything which was actually illegal/prohibited, let alone in the UK itself. And it was his brother's wedding to be fair. I'd do anything to prevent a wedding party like that from happening in the current circumstances (unless Egypt is covid-free which it obviously isn't), but if he was dead set on doing it then and there, then you're not gonna say "Ah no, not for me". I get that people condemn him for it, because it was wrong objectively speaking, but he's also only a human being with family on the other side. No one wants to miss out on his/her brother's wedding.
So I get your point that different players get different treatment in the media, but I don't get your "let's see what happens here". Apart from Liverpool giving Salah a slap on the wrist for being inconsiderate, we're not going to not play him once he's fit again.

I don't buy the argument that this happened in Egypt. He lives and works in England, and should be subject to the rules of that country. He has not been in a "bubble" that national teams are subjected to, so thus he should spend some days in a quarantine?
I also strongly question the media concerning their treatment of players and clubs. I certainly don't hope that media in Europe resemble Fox and CNN where there are clear allegiances to this or that. Unfortunately, the media seem more concerned with creating news stories instead of broadcasting news. That being said, I have seen some criticism over Salah.

If you work at a company, and you travel abroad, should you not adhere to the rules of said company? First of all, travels should be limited to a minimum, but I understand that one wishes to attend a brother's wedding. However, I think it needs to be put into perspective. What were the rules in Iceland when Greenwood did not follow the rules for England? So he had rules he had to follow.
No you don't, there are recommendations of course but definitely not "rules".
He was there for international duty and I assume his brother specifically chose a date at which Salah could be in town for that, i.e. during the international break.
And to your first question, no you don't necessarily have to do that and that's not even what you said in your first post I quoted - you said that he should be subject to the rules of England whilst being in Egypt because he works and lives in England, which is simply ridiculous (all the more because he's an Egyptian to begin with).
Considering the pandemic, I doubt it is that ludicrous. For instance, according to the Norwegian government, if you are abroad, you should focus on the restrictions and advice given by the government. Do you disagree that he should have done the same? If Egypt has no such advice or restrictions, should he just follow them, then?
If he was there for international duty, then he "bursted his own bubble", so is he then subject to a self-isolation anyways? Just a quick read tells me that there is a 14-day self-isolation for travels to the UK, and that seems to include Egypt.

I don't disagree with any of that mate, what Salah did was wrong (yet understandable to an extent). It was just the notion that you should be subject to the rules of your country whilst being abroad that made absolutely no sense.

As much as I understand wanting to go your brother’s wedding, he really, really shouldn’t be partying with 500 people during a pandemic. Yeah, all true. Footballers are people of privilege and higher status whether they like it or not and that comes with expectations of responsibility. Walker, Grealish, Foden, Greenwood, Salah (and many more) have all made stupid decisions during this period.
