MLB 2024

And Rafael Devers doing Rafael Devers things

They are in SD, so no swimming this time. Giant's relievers will save that for home games.
Do they still have the giant glove at at center field? Last time I was there Barry Bonds had just hit no. 500 the week before!

What are your hopes for us this season?
Hopefully we get a WC spot and then we’ll see. The starting pitching could be elite by then end of the season if Cobb and Ray come back strong and Harrison becomes the ace the scouts think he can. There are not many rotations that I would take over Snell/Webb/Harrison/Cobb/Ray. Hicks is a lottery ticket, so we’ll see.
Defense was a huge weakness last year and it got an instant upgrade with Chapman, Ahmed, and Lee which should help the pitching, especially Webb.
The offense and bullpen are the big question marks.

Any tips on best/cheapest ways to watch MLB now? I'm so tempted to get the single team subscription (only really interested in the Mets) but $130 for the season when I'm not going to be able to watch the majority of the games because of time zones feels a little rough, especially when the subscription for all teams is only $20 more. I know people are going to recommend less legal means, but I've had really hit or miss experiences with them, and last season they were mostly useless as they seem to be really trying to crack down on them.

Strictly legal routes, MLBtv is your best bet, assuming you're UK-based? I took the plunge on it for the first time last season, and it's great. A little pricey, but considering you can watch your team almost every day, it's good value. And unlike the NFL and NHL streaming apps, I never have a problem with MLBtv. Time difference does make it a little rough sometimes but I catch up the next day when possible. You can also get the radio broadcast on demand, sometimes I listen to those at work the next day.

I'd suggest getting the full access one, as it includes the postseason too so you'll be able to watch the World Series and stuff like the all star game. You can even watch Minor League Baseball too, if that interests you. Another plus is you can pay monthly for the full access subscription, so if you're not getting the most out of it, you can cancel whenever. For some reason the single team subscription is a one-off payment only.

If you intend to stream on a browser, I'd recommend downloading the Privacy Badger browser extension. MLBtv plays a repetitive loop of archive footage during ad breaks, and it will drive you mad halfway through one game. Privacy Badger blocks it, and you'll just get the silent 'ad break in progress' screensaver instead. It's much better.

I can see Juan Soto getting upwards of $600 million in free agency. Steinbrenner better get his chequebook out.

Marlins have looked like shite which is disappointing but not really surprising. Only team to not hit a home run.

It’s going to be another sad year of following the Giants isn’t it

A win! Not just that, but they scored more than 4 runs for the first time in like 16 games (going back to last season).

Just noticed that y'all come rolling into town on Friday, don't like ya being on this hot streak.

It’s going to be a long season. Didn’t like the Chapman signing when it happened and it’s worse than I feared. He’s giving Schmidt level offense with marginally better defense for 100 times the cost.

Say what you want about premeir league refs, but however shit they are they have nothing on MLB umpires.

Regretting my TNT subscription mainly to watch the baseball.
Good grief Giants.

Not wanting Angel to be all alone on narcissistic shitbird umpire island our boy Hunter (whose dad was also one of the most pompous asshats in umpiring history) does his boy a solid.

I was watching the A's feed and they were mystified as well. Is there a precedent for an umpire ever changing his mind on a call if he realizes he is wrong (like he was here)? I have never seen one say "shit, I thought that was from the dugout, toss rescinded".

I highly doubt it. The level of narcissism of most MLB umps is surpassed only by the power of their union to enable their worst behaviors. I guarantee the PGMOL looks on in intense jealousy.

Boone has transcended to a level of ejections where he can get one just by admiring his manicure.
