MLB 2022

No hitter watch with the Rays v Red Sox thru seven. You know, the traditional five pitchers used route.

Lost it in the tenth with a triple.

e - and the unlikely Kiermaier walks it off with a two run dinger in the bottom of the tenth.

Nothing in baseball feels quite as good as beating the Red Sox in any fashion.

We’re planning on going to the third game of the Washington series this weekend. Should be a beautiful day too!

Enjoy the game! Looks like Webb vs Joan Adon for the Nats. I wonder if he has any relation to the Giants Melvin Adon?? I tried to find something but couldn't.

More reports have come out following this incident. Turns out the hitter was taunting the pitcher as he rounded the bases and you can see the umpire issuing a warning to him as he rounds second base. Still does not condone the pitcher's reaction thereafter but does provide some context. I've seen mentions of both players being suspended (for games not expulsion from school) for their actions.

Really needed that sweep after shitting the bed against the Mets. Thanks Nats!

@Vidyoyo

Reading an article on The Ringer about Miggy's 3,000 hits and the likelihood of anyone else doing it and I stumbled on this outrageous line.

For now, all we know is that Soto, like those other all-timers who came up short of 3,000, is “losing” some hits due to an 18.7 percent career walk rate—the fifth-highest in history, behind only Williams, Bonds, a 1920s second baseman named Max Bishop, and Ruth.

Dude is historically good already at 23.

Thing is, he'll just fade into obscurity and could just make noise via Twitter or however. He's a douche and thought of himself pretty highly, so won't miss him. And neither to the Dodgers really, they just keep getting good players.

Edit - Just saw fresh allegations have come out this evening so I'll rescind my last comment and maintain Bauer is a weirdo

Disagree completely. Bauer is a tool but the accusations have always been against his sexual preferences and it looks like MLB is playing their high hand because he's shown up their deficiencies to control pitchers re: using sticky substances. His outspoken nature has shown them up massively and I expect his lawyers will be involved very shortly, as they should be.

As much as I love baseball, it's a weird sport at times like this. You have other domestic abuse cases carrying less punitive sentences than what Bauer's receiving. We had a similar issue last year with Castro at the Nats and he only received a 30 game ban, though it did seemingly end his Major League career. Ozuna only had a 20 game ban. There's plenty more examples.

Bauer is, right now, looking at a 324 game ban and you can't tell me there's a precedence for it. It's absurd.

Edit - Appreciate this is a sensitive topic and I also want to reiterate Bauer is a weirdo

The NFL and MLB and other sports, are able to rule independently of the courts/law. It's their workplace and they set the precedence. The inconsistencies are confusing, totally agree, but people's reputation play a role, right or wrong.

Ozuna was only suspended for 20 regular season games, but was also out of the playoffs and away from his team since his arrest in late May 2021 - at least that's how I've read and understood it. He also went through counseling.

Bauer calling out the MLB, rightly in my opinion, for game related stuff is fine. But it also opened him up to any repercussions down the line, such as a suspension that is deemed lopsided.

Yeah that's probably a better way of putting it. Him being so outspoken at this time is a stupid move on his part, though no doubt the catalyst for why.

I've edited my post as some fresh allegations came out after last night, a third woman coming forward. It's really not looking good for old Trev right now.

In more positive news - Nats hammered SanFran last night

Giants are annoying. Finding ways to compete now that the Padres have a good team and are in position to compete again after 10+ years of shit. Then of course there's the Dodgers, fecking Dodgers.

Jeremy Pena looks like a pretty handy Correa replacement. The rookie has been electric to start the season.

@WI_Red What's going on with the closer situation at the Giants this year? I've got McGee on my fantasy team and thinking about getting rid if he's not closing.

Kapler announced there would be no closer and it would be more about matchups. McGee, Leonne and Doval have all had opportunities. Also, it seems the Giants have decided to avoid close games. They are either getting blown out or blowing out their opponents (only 7 saves in 14 wins). I think they really want to give it to Doval (4 of the saves) but do not want to pressure him. I would take the risk and pick him up if he is available. There is a decent chance he blows up and is sent back down to AAA and McGee becomes full time closer, but a better chance Doval sticks and gets the bulk of the opportunities.

Looking through some Mock Drafts and I gotta say that what the Vandy coach did to Rocker, and then what the Mets did, is criminal. He should sue the hell out of all of them.

Cheers, I actually have both because I couldn't figure out who'd be the main closer and half expected Doval would pick up the mantle after some good performances last year. I guess I'll stick with them both and assess in a few weeks. McGee certainly stung me yesterday giving up 4 runs in the 8th!

What's the story here? All I remember is Mets thought he had some medical issues

That’s sort of why I posted that Tennessee player with the howitzer of an arm. I could easily see him getting ruined in college.
