Want to remind you that both Mane and Kante are not just the flavors of the month. Both are playing well from the starts of this season and are very important players for their current team. And Kante is one of last seasons player of the season nominee, and one of the 3 players who were instrumental in an extra-ordinary title triumph.
They certainly are 'flavours of the month' in that both Chelsea and Liverpool are on good runs - while we have been fairly poor - and that usually sends this place into meltdown and people start to envy every fecking player from said rivals.
Anyhow, didn't Kante say he rejected us in favour of Chelsea? That's not really missing out on him, now is it? Also, I don't think Kante is at all what we need; if I could pick a Chelsea player to take, it would be Hazard, and certainly not Kante. I guess I don't rate him nearly as highly as some on here. What difference would Kante have made when we failed to beat Stoke & Burnley, or in the draw at Anfield or the Smalling infused nonsense at Stamford Bridge? None whatsoever.
I see where you're coming from with Mane. I have alluded to this in several threads that we badly needed pace on the wings and I thought it would be addressed over the summer. I agree that we needed a player of Mane's ilk / style, but not necessarily Mane. I think a player like that
may have gotten us wins in some of the games that were draws, but who knows? We can't sign every player on the planet. From reading the comments on here and by looking at his stats, I assumed Mkhitaryan was going to be the dogs bollocks but obviously that has yet to work out for reasons unknown.
I hope the wing situation will be addressed next summer but I don't see us signing a player like Kante. I would much rather a Gundogan style player.
