Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

There could be some regulations too from the FA about releasing medical information on players under the age of 18.
Good point. Adults can consent to information releases whereas until they're 18 players are incapable of legally consenting to information releases under English law.

Just a reminder that the U21's are playing tonight, away at West Brom. Kick off 7pm. It still says the game is meant to be on MUTV so fingers crossed.

Harry Amass called up to the England U17 squad for their EURO qualifiers. Lacey, J. Fletcher & Fitzgerald all miss out due to injury.

First game is tomorrow against Northern Ireland where he'll face teammate Will Murdock.

The England U16s and U17s are really something else. I'd say the most talented I've seen in the 10 year or so I've been following youth football and a lot of them are with us.

United academy with some good representation here.

TBF with the Spanish teams, their academies tend to be HUGE. Even 4th tier sides have Juvenil A, B, C sides etc. Man Utd don't have U18B or U18C sides.

Juvenil A, B and C are all just the names for their different age groups.

Juvenil A = U19s
B = U18s
C = U17s

Yet they play in the same league system. Cadiz Juvenil A play in the Division Honor (top tier of youth football in Spain) while their Juvenil B side plays in the Liga Nacional (the level below, which teams get promoted from/relegated to) and their Juvenil C side plays a couple of levels further down

But that’s just because Cadiz is such a cool club full of kids dreaming of becoming El Magico

Shea Lacey signing his first pro contract. Do one, Newcastle.

Manchester United U/17 defeated Carlisle United 3-0 in a friendly at Carrington on Wednesday night.

Victor Musa with all three goals.
I’m glad to see him get in amongst the goals. In the under 18 highlights I saw he showed some fight and physical application, traits that will serve him well. Like Wheatley, there’s something there.

James Scanlon is on the bench tonight for Gibraltar's play-out first leg against Lithuania. Julio Ribas has opted to start with more established names in his starting 11:

23 Dayle Coleing (GK)

4 Jack Sergeant
5 Louie Annesley
6 Bernardo Lopes
14 Roy Chipolina (c)
12 Jayce Olivero

10 Liam Walker
15 Niels Hartman
17 Kian Ronan
20 Ethan Britto

19 Tjay De Barr

Subs:
1 Bradley Banda (GK), 13 Christian Lopez (GK), 2 Tayler Carrington, 3 Joseph Chipolina, 7 Lee Casciaro, 8 James Scanlon, 9 Jaiden Bartolo, 11 Evan De Haro, 16 Kai Mauro, 18 Liam Jessop, 21 Michael Ruiz, 22 Dylan Peacock

Can someone make a thread for him like the other youth players have? Especially given the media attention he's gaining this week it'd be a good way to discuss his progress without taking over the general discussion.

The U14s beat Liverpool in the Albert Phelan Cup quarter-finals. 3-2 win after two of our players being sent off. Teddy Garside saved a penalty and JJ Gabriel scored the winner.

Apart from those two it seems like at least Tunde Shoretire, Kai Rooney, Gazik Ibragimov and Edson DeJonge-Seiros were amongst those involved.

We won the North section of the cup both in 2022 and 2023.

Albert Phelan Cup is an U14 competition. Kukonki is an U16 so couldn't have played. Anyway, great win.

Kukonki is an U16.

Unless there's a rule where you're allowed overage players (that I'm not aware of) he couldn't have played. Anyway, great win there are some very good players in that Liverpool side.

Could’ve been Mapengu.

Who’se younger relative is DeJonge-Seiros? FdJ?

Scanlon on the bench again for Gibraltar in Kaunas tonight.

40 year old Roy Chipolina and suspended keeper Dayle Coleing are out of the side, Bradley Banda starts in goal and Evan De Haro starts in midfield with Louie Annesley dropping to defence and Niels Hartman filling his holding midfield role. Scott Ballantine is promoted from stand-by to substitute.

Scanlon a sub again, when he and Bartolo came on there was a noticeable improvement in Gibraltar's attacking play but they just came on too late to change the result. A number of dangerous attacking runs from Scanlon.

Surely he is better than a lot of the players who regularly play? Is it because of his age? (Which, of course, is a legitimate reason)

Definitely because before this weekend he'd never played senior football.

Pretty sure he is the first United player to represent his country before playing a full game for our Reserves (U/23, U/21).
Nah he has a few U21 games under his belt. 90 mis in 2 games, vs Arsenal and Man City. Proper test for him will be in June vs Scotland.

The U18 Premier League Cup final against Man City will be played at Leigh Sports Village on Tuesday 23 April at 19:30 BST.

Our U12s won their second match in the MIC Cup too. 3-0 vs a local side VIC Riuprimer Refo FC. This means we’re already through to the last 16. Our last group game is played later today.
