Makes sense. We have two bench strikers, which includes one that needs game time and confidence to find the net and is a year away from being out of contract. I reckon Macheda will go out on loan to Sunderland or something similar to see if he's going to cut the mustard, and i'm not sure about Welbeck maybe on loan again or something else, who knows.
Ideally you want 5 strikers in a squad. Hernandez, Rooney, Owen, Vucinic, Welbeck
Would be a solid strike setup. Don't forget at one point we had Ruud, Rooney, Saha, Ole and Smith all vying for spots. Almost of similar strength and all of them could find the next very regularly.
As Brad said before he left, Ferguson seems to be over his Berbatov love in.
Given how Hernandez played last season, if he doesn't think Berbatov is good enough on the bench to get over Owen, why are we paying him double his wage. Berbatov is a good player, but he needs to play almost every game and be the main man to get the great performances out of him. Given there's been almost no talk of a new contract from United's side i'd say they're looking out for offers.
